This wasn't what I was told when I went for mine. infact he jacked it up to check before certing it. He also measured things like the fact my steering could go lock to lock without any rubbing.

Sorry not trying to be a hater, really not. But having the car that low (cert or not) is infact illegal. 100mm from the lowest point of the vehicle is the lowest point. Just another thing on the handling thing, Anything above 100kph is just dam dangerous with this little suspension travel. You hit the bump stops at speed around the corner at this speed and only one thing happens, massive weight distrobution away from the tires cause no grip. In an e46 the other thing this causes is the subframe to tear away from the unibody. It will happen in 6mths - 1 yr running this low. Once that happens the only one to fix it is replacing the unibody section as repairs dont work. the cost of the work runs into the 1000's Just something on the 19's. on compression the tops of the tires will hit the plastic inner gaurd liner and eventually wear through to the bear metal. sorry if its sounds like a go at ya but just giving fair warning of what will / does happen when you run the e46 shape at these heights.

The most sought-after engine in production today is the BMW N54 series straight-six which has garnered some of the celebrated awards such as the International Engine of the Year honor and coming in some of the much loved vehicles such as the 335i Coupe and Sedan. The N54 generates 306hp (225kW) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque in its standard form. BMW has a recent power uprate for the 3.0-liter N54 bumps power by 20hp (15kW) and 37lb-ft of torque. The consequence of these enhancements is faster sprint and more flexibility for the 135i Coupe and Convertible, and 335i Sedan, Coupe and Convertible plus cars with 7-speed dual clutch transmission. The speed boost for the 335i Sedan equipped with the kit is 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds about 0.2 seconds quicker than the regular version. From 80-120km/h is reached in less than 0.5 faster. The upgrade kit comes with both software and hardware parts intended particularly for these specific versions but the lineup will very soon extend to include other BMW cars that employ the N54 powerplant. Other revisions consist of a new intake, upgraded cooling fan and a second radiator. Source: http://www.4wheelsnews.com/bmws-n54-series...official-boost/

ITBs only give you minor increases in power at that literage. Some one has done it (s50 ITBs onto m5x) and it gave them a whole 3 horse power difference for a whole lot of hassle.

Fail ... have a e30 with 360000kms on the clock and original engine. It turned 23 the other day. Still tight as hell and nothing wrong with the it (not blowing smoke etc) e46 is just about at 130ks and fine. The thing is (with any vehicle) servicing. Im sick of people moaning about BMWs breaking down. When in fact its the owner whos broken down and to tight to service the things. back on topic ... Go to Botany motor works or BM Workshop if in AKL

An AA insepction wont pick up much. I would say get it taken to glenn @ Botany motor works for a proper pre-purchase inspection before you buy it. Things to look out for. Open up the bonnet and have a look at the chassis rails, have they been bent or replaced? Check the radiator .. is it brand new? or can you see if the fan is a bit broken ? common signs its been in a frontal. For e46's the things that go wrong are: * Gearbox, reverse gear drum failure. (messy and expensive gearbox rebuild) get mecahnical insurance * GM5 failure (central locking stops working on hot days) * Cooling system failure, radiator, sensors and water pump get crusty (go brown and fail) * Rear sub frame failure. Subframe can tear itself from the unibody. (only a problem on seriously lowered cars or very rough treatment) Those are the main bad ones that your AA report wont pick up.

hehe where was that and I hope I wasn't tailing it ? Think the last time I swung the ass in the e46 was the bimmersport meet

Was out driving between the shore to glenn's botany motor works and up to rays today .. and OMG. on about 5 different occasions nearly got rear ended by people just not concerntrating on what they were doing and locking it up behind me. Worst one was coming down the bridge. A fairly new mini pulled onto the median strip and put it hazards on, next thing everyone around me was obviously watching it. two car in front of me lock up as traffic was slowing and end up in other lanes narrowly missing other vehicles the lady behind me do the same and ended up in the parralel lane. and the car behind her also. Takapuna, traffic suddenly comes to a stop, person behind me not watching, locks it up and again I hit the accelerator to avoid being rear ended. This time only missed me by inches. If I hadn't of been leaving my usual 4 cars in front gap and accelrated to stop the persons behind me hitting me. I would of been writing a 'hybrid is no more' thread. a combination of drivers with bad tires, useless drivers and wet weather = fun times driving the AK today :/ /rant

NavCoder v2.6.0 Released (International Version)

Few warnings about buying cheaper wheels. Because in 19 format your running quite a low profile tire (35 and 30 in the rear) if you hit a pot hole hard enough. Non forged wheels will bend. Its happened to me 3 times with my old non forged 19s. Not saying dont by them, just beware this is a real problem. Again, go have a look on e46fanatics.com under there forum showroom and check out some more styles before committing to wheels. Also if your after some lowering springs. I still have these for sale. http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....c=14576&hl=
