The easiest way to check for blown speakers is run a 15khz to 40hz test tone threw @ -8Db RMS youll quickly hear any fuzzing and can more or less work out what speakers doing it. Give me 10mins ill make one up for you.

+2 for stance ... only problem with that dudes car is hes banged up the sills by the looks of it dropping off curbs. Couldnt think of anything more pain in the ass than driving around auckland any lower than that in a LWB car. If you want it too look lower get bigger wheels. That way you get the stance, the low look and the non pain in the ass ness of being able to get over curbs / speed bumps.

Excellent post about solving problems in ZF 5hp24 transmissions

This is exactly what I had done to mine. Accept the reverse gear cast casing in mine had already bit the dust and exploded putting metal all through the valves and channels. It had a full rebuild with new seals + o-rings / oil and clutch packs etc etc. -
cheers ... so buggered now though

They look like a drunk russian hung the panels. They have varible gapping and un-even curving between panels. Many of them are made from fiberglass and just carbon fiber coated to keep costs down and they all use low grade resins so they go yellow in the sun after a period of time.

Just remember the beta will run out in October-November when its released as retail

Running it now on my new laptop. Awesome. Starts faster than XP and has some pretty nice features in the rich media side of things. Finally a OS I can actually get on with. Never gave vista a chance and im glad. Only thing im not a fan of is the fact your not an actual admin. However I have found a nice little registry entry that allows me to right click on a directory and take ownership of it. EG c:\windows c:\ doc and settings.

I think the best thing is if he gets out his digital camera and takes a bunch of photos and posts them here.. otherwise we are all guessing.

Hmm go mono block and 6 spoke dude ( ... get as much outward offset as possible and keep it tight to the gaurd line) 18 inch MO1885 @ 8.5 .. in white (in otherwords the second pic) The rear offset in Pic 2 sucks, it pretty much is default. If your paying the $$$ for new bro get custom offsets and have the gaurds mildly pulled. It will rock the panties. Dont do what everyone else does and settles for safe default offsets. Do your home work and measure the sh*t out of them.. hell even come over and we can measure the several sets of wheels I have here.

Westy has since ripped his e46 to bits however we may have others ... will have to check. Happy to help out where I can still.

What heat gas bulbs you running ? How new are they ? need tech info! The gas in the HID bulb only lasts around 2 years life span of normal use and can dull over that time. If your running 8000k they are quite dim yes. I would look into 6000k ones (white/purple). They are not cheap .. you looking around 250-300 for two. Also have a look at your height the self levelling system maybe on the blink and just dropped them too far if they are OEM .. if they are aftermarket .. re-adjust them if after market you have have a damaged back focusing plate .. is the beam level line straight and sharp ? Lots of things cause this problem.

Any news on 46 long headers ? Did they come through with that 'specail' RHD design in the end ?
-
Hmm I would say 225 on a dunlop direzza or falkin. 35% profile tire. Even maybe some guard rolling. However, at the end of the day you have the wrong offset weels for the car. Im not sure what e34 offsets are, but I would say those are wheels that run a much lower offset (they stick out more) and are designed for another type of vehicle.

Nice write up fella! .. A lot of general e46 info in there, epspecially around the sub frame problem that might help some of these guys dumping them down so low think twice about thier 10-20k e46 purchase.

Winter tire requirements ?!? . We dont live in europe! ? it barely even gets cold enough for snow half way down the island.

So from this: check the fronts should really be more than 8.5/235 on an e34. Next thing you can do is buy a champhered tire Like a falkin fk-452 or Dunlop Direzza. You shouldnt be running 285 on the front?! pics of the side of the tire wall please with the sizing on them. We should be able to work out the rest from here. If the wheels are correctly orientated then the only things you can do to help are champhered tires (maybe even slight under sizing) and getting your guards pulled. from the first photo I reckon you can drop down a width sizes easy enough and just run a non striaght wall tire. Was it bought from a dealer ?

Put it this way, his the only car that keeps up / matches with me on runs. We actually had a drag race from stand still and he beat me off the line and for the first 100 meters. for a 328 e36 its one seriously quick car. I have done the same thing with standard e36 3.0 M3s and are pretty much matched with them. Just goes to prove that torque is everything Peak horse power figures dont really mean too much. Another thing on westys side is the lack of weight his car has as it has not auto gearbox anymore me e46 330i = 231bhp ( a bit more up top with my exhaust) e36 m3 3.0 = 282bhp After driving a 3.0 m3 and the straight afterwards jumping into my 330 the big thing I noticed the m3 was issing was any real balls down low. So all of its power was 4000 up and its real power was at 6000.

Under full compression I think you find the tops of your front tires will hit the plastic inner guard and wear through. I know because it happened to me and Im no where near as low as you.
