I agree with the notion of car companies not engineering engines thouroughly. Holden V8s are nothing special, as they are just the average Chevy engines from da States, just Holden badged. Add to that the 5.7, and in some cases, the 6.0L capacity, and it seems hopeless. Even the 5.4L V8 in the Falcon range isnt too high-tech....although FPV does manage to tune it to a good level. Aussie manufactures take the "there's no replacement for displacement" rule a bit too far, IMO. Making more power with less capicity is no hard task...Look how much power BMW made with the 5L V8 in the E39............ Or for a more everyday-car comparison, look at the V8 Nissan has made: 4.5L, 250kW in base spec....and they havent even begun tuning it yet.......
