  1. Yea on that note... I heard they do things like change the shifting points etc etc, so you feel like your going faster, but your power/ torque actually suffers.
  2. Cheers for the honest reply. Yea I think I already need some resonators as is haha.
  3. Ok. Can you give me a bit of detail on the sound? was it loud or just the type/ pitch. I have a fairly loud muffler already (being straight through). Cheers.
  4. thankyou... thats to well said. You see these average cars with these plates that the owners obviously think they are gods gift to the world, and then comes along a car worth 10x it with just a standard regulation plate, and puts them in their place.
  5. What about 'E3RTY' looks quite cool and subtle...
  6. Yea your right, my mate had one from the dealer like that, doesn't make them any better though haha. Its more ones that state the obvious or are just are not-car related or the ones those hard guys have that say 'banged' or 'lowrd' or 'bagged' or 'gee' etc etc. Ones that are more subtle and make you think arn't so bad, but its still the number plate at the end of the day, and sometimes I rekon they draw to much attention away from the rest of the car, which I can only see is positive when your a business ect. Anyway back on topic and help come up with some good ideas for bmw plates.
  7. Hadn't seen your plate before... I would say that is an exception to what I think, as to people other those those knowlegable about BMWs it simply looks like a normal plate. And its cool cos it keeps people guessing what you've done to your car (i looked this one up about a year ago (got the same motor) and it wass available then)). Its more people that have plates like 'runvs' or, 'bmw123'... well done buddy your making it really obvious your cars a bmw... I think the badge might give it away.
  8. Well I guess thats warrented given your 318ti and its tasteful badges... no disrespect. No I'm all for BMW culture, the personalised plate issue is far more general than bmw... it doesnt make sense to me to pay hundreds for the piece of metal that you would rather not have on your car (other than to abide by the law), which draws even more attention... I would rather people look at the wheels/ body/ paint or listen to the sound than look at my plate. That just my opinion and I know there are people out there who hold the same. Each to his own.
  9. Did this come of your 328i? so if I put it on my 97 it will fit perfect? Also it looks pretty new so whats your reason for sale?? Is it realy noisy? Also what it made out of? Sorry for all the questions, fairly interested. Cheers.
  10. Why do you want a personalised plate? I dont see why people get these... they look tacky and draw attention to probaly the most useless and ugly piece on the car (the plate). If your a business then I understand, or if your cars not so cool, and you make a joke.. but otherwise why... I've never quite understood the appeal.
  11. The idea behind this new legislation is great, but its flawed and won't change anything. Calling realy isn't a problem, as somone stated, it's the talking that distracts drivers focus (not the physical holding of a 100 gram device), why not just ban passengers?... possibly if driving a manual holding a phone doesn't help (but then again most manual drivers are smart). As for txting, well if your stupid enough to text now, your gona be stupid enough to do it after Nov 1st, and hows any cop going to see somone txting, they don't have laser vision. I guess it's can only do more good than harm, but why not spend the time and money rulling out 20inch crhomes and quad big-boy exhausts, there far more anoying.
  12. Hmm cheers, will have to have a think about it. Not to fussed about quicker wearing rotors or even bit dustier wheels if they are noticably better than stock, but if there realy no better on the road, may go with stock.
  13. When you say you went back to stock/OEM, did you mean because there was no difference (the mintex wernt any better)?? I'm looking at Mintex, Brembo or EBC, they all seem pretty good and easy get, but not sure what's best...
  14. The brake pads on my 328 are worn, particularly the rears, so time to replace them. The car doesn't go on the track but it gets some hard wear so looking for something above stock. Any recommendations? cheers for any help.
  15. Did you have plain plates on? or black ones (...also any stickers or anything). I ask because I have been pulled up for black ones once, but never plain ones, even when cops have been right behind me for 5 minutes... Also IMO (unless your realy strugling) I wouldn't loose sleep over having german plates... I've had them for about 6 years (a couple of mates also have them), and between us only one of us (me) has been pulled up... and that was for the black plates which are pretty obvious. I have heard of a few other people with the same problem but I'm happy to get slapped with a warning or $200 fine one every 6 years to keep the better looking plates... It cost me more to get the legitimate thing.
  16. Cheers for that! yea that would be the final touch, have always liked something about the square ones but most people prefer the m3 ones.
  17. Haha, yea man! it's one of the best bmw colours, use to only like black but now realise how boring it can be.
  18. woops forgot to attatch...
  19. Some people wanted some photos after I applied this stuff (I think one might also be on the site), I've attatched a few photos. Not to bad! my paint job was fairly average to start with aswell. (m52- i think a few people get that problem every once in while)
  20. Lol trying to get away without puting your own car up! new members need to just put some pics of there car up! just do it. I've used this stuff, before it came on bimmersport, and it is pretty awsome i'll get some pics sometime, I think I might have already put some up with it on a few months back.
  21. In some cases. But take your car for example... without being personal I would rather have used the 30k plus whatever the car cost in the first place, n have an m3, could even get an e46 for that and still have money to do stuff to it, and I think it may turn a few more heads. One of my favorite sayings: you can make a s**t car good, but it's still a good s**t car...
  22. This should be stickied, and serve as a reminder to people not to fall into the same idiot trap, then look back and realise how many cooler faster cars you could have owned for half the price... Damn some people must be feeling bad
  23. I would personally save the $800, leaving mself with no need to choose between two colours, and sticking a plate on my car that detracts from... wel the car, and the majority of people think is stupid. But Blue! yea goes wth the bimmer badge, n black looks like u cudn't afford a colour printer
  24. The only thing that will get the job done properly (if you have alot... ie: in the hundreds of stonechips), is a respray. IMO I seriously prefer natural stone chips than freckly, half-pie looking touch up dabs all over the front end, it looks like you tried but failed, kinda like those bubling tints people DIY. It is good for some of the larger spots though. I've had quotes from about 10 different places for resprays, all atleast $500... they must do a full frontal respray- blend, as it is a metalic colour it will never match so they won't do just one panel, they do the whole front, blending into the arches. It's anoying how e36's are stone magnets. At the end of the day as you said unless your within 2m's and sun shining directly on the car it's impossible to see them, after a while you realise your either prepared to get a respray, or spend the money on something more worthwile.
  25. http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/archive/i...hp/t-48032.html Looks like the same problem, just different car, but all stakers are the same basic design. Don't no if it'll be usefull but the first BMW forum disccusion I found, theres heaps of other random diys out there.
