His name is "Tommi" ... that is all.

This is all very interesting.... Kayne Barrie Here, this is my area of things, if you want my help by all means ring, my only comment on the above is, $460 is not much for that job to be done properly, as someone else has said, that it is critical to get the set up right or it will be noisy and wear prematurely . If you had/have contacted me about this job, was I too expensive? just curious because I get a lot of referral for this and wondered what you consider to be a reasonable price for this (to be done once;)

I'm looking for a E30 m3 block, will consider anything and am open to any suggestions of where to find one over sea's if need be, Cheers, KB.
-
sorry just read that properly, yes you can, but be careful as you can over tighten easily and crush the pinion bearings, the most common cause of diff failure is after the seal or flange is changed people dont tighten correctly.

Lol, yip thanks Brent that bit of info was handy in getting engine over the line!

Thanks for the help Guy's, they have given me despensation to run the car even though it is slightly to modern, they are happy it's in the spirit of the event, so yay! cheers and merry xmas! KB.

Hi David, have tried real oem, 535i is listed as 3/87, cheers, KB
-
Thanks Grant, yes that is what I meant, I've found 520i (M20), 530i (M30) and 535i (M30) as early as 3/87 but that's the earliest so far, Wiki does support my hopes a bit with it's wording but I think I'm gonna need a bit more as wiki is wiki!

Hi Everyone, I need a bit of help, I want to enter my car in a classic event and it requires the car/body to be first build date pre 1-1-87, I need any info to support that, a chassis number, parts listing any sort of bmw history book that says they were built before then, for example I know most BMW's that have a model year 1990 can have a build date 9/89 because of shutdown oversea's but can't find anything to support it, any help would be appreciated, Kayne.

Hi Guy's and Girl's.....and other's? I'm after any damaged 240 getrags, any condition considered, any model, may pay $$ depending on approximate condition, even if you think it is utterly shagged, I WANT IT! doesn't need to be local, will pay freight, can message me on here or call 0274 975 330, cheers, KB.

it's an old E32, it's not worth anything no matter how nice, you might aswell do the conversion from good stock! I may have a manual conversion for sale soon, I'm looking at putting a six speed behind my V12, like Lance on here we used the standard ecu's and DK throttles and it works really well (better then alot of modern fly-by-wire set ups) and way cheaper, feel free to PM me on you will find Lance very helpful and well reseached on this aswell, cheers, KB.

Thanks heaps for that Michael, Perfect, KB.

Hi, I'm involved with a BMW job at the moment and need to re-loom part of a engine loom, where can I get the terminals Male and Female for the the big round plugs on the firewall (same terminals as the big round diagnostic port). any help would be appreciated, KB.

Hi guy's, Ray from hellBM has posted a link to youtube of some incar stuff from the rally if anyones interested, it's in the video part of this forum, Cheers, KB. ps. Close ratio box coming.........marchish.
-
Yip just cut and weld, it was the the most expensive part of the whole car, that and the clutch/flywheel, but it was worth it, it feels awesome as a manual, I hope to have it at some track days soonish, KB.
-
Hi Ian, we used a 265 Getrag (bolt on bell housing type) it came out of a US e30 m3, was just a cheap easy option and from experience they are pretty tough, KB.
-
Polley, you hit the nail on the head, hence the idea to build it......Fun +gst! I will try to cover the questions asked, mainly built to run on gravel......just because! targa maybe, if we can make it reliable, mechanically not a big deal to fit, but wiring was a bit of stress, cheers MT I'm sure we'll get it along to a practice day or two for the bmw meets but not allowed to enter as David said because it was not a factory option, as for the v8 versa's v12? nothing sounds as phat as a v12 I'm sorry, enough said! will post some video stuff on you tube post the rally this weekend, glad you like it, cheers, KB.

Hi Guy's, in my fiddling around with e34/e32 stuff I found there is some track difference's between the models, the 750 has slightly wider arms then the other 7's ,maybe the 540I has wider arms then some of the smaller capacity 5's, worth looking into, KB.

Greg. I may be able to help rescue that LSD unit if you are interested, email me some detail if you want [email protected]

Hi Ray,that would be an easy conversion for Sammy J not too much $$, this a e30 we're talking about here aye? KB.

I've got a 3.15 in a med crown and pinion, but I also have a 3.07 in another option, give a bell at work tomorrow and I give you a couple of idea's , Kayne 09 441 4994
-
Hi Sammy J,did you get this sorted ? what ratio did you end up with and what did you think? and if not I can help with a couple of options, KB.
-
kiwi535, I've just stumbled over this and apologize if I gave you a bum steer on this I may have misunderstood what you were asking? 3.15 ratio (std m3 ratio) is way tall and only any good for jaming a toilet door open!power wise that diff will be fine, can have the ratio changed easy too, with 1:1 top on 17ish inch tyres you will want to be on 3.64 with a s50 (Aaron Harris has this set-up). I'm happy to answer any questions on this but I keep getting spam rubbish sent to my email from this site so I don't get the messages anymore, so I will keep an eye on this topic (and because I'm interested too), Kayne Barrie

Hi Guy's (my first post so hope it works ) Dave these engines are a personal favourite, no dramas and heaps of grunt! Could you be tempted to move the motor back? I know moving the firewall would be a hassle but the balance difference would be huge, great project, KB.
