Ohhh.... genuine kits.... hmmmm i guess thats why there are so many knock-offs....

Hey guys, It's his car - let him do what he wants... Only soo many tech2 on weaves the world can handle...
-
i think it will look good... depending on which clear lights you get, there are some really tacky ones out there... but ya you will not get any money back on the car... don't think i've spent 5grand on mods the car is now worth 3 or 4 grand more...
-
It doesn't have to be a massive job in doing head work... depending on the quality of the factory work, just removing the as cast surface of the ports can get a 4-8% increase (measured) in flow. You could do that at home no probs... Some 120/150 grit hard rolls for polishing and your sorted! Improving things like seat cuts and grinding out the ports to make them much larger is where it gets hard/expensive. Probably the biggest improvement i've seen on most factory heads is the valve seat to port wall alignment - for some reason factory heads almost never get this right, there is always a small lip (in some cases not so small)...

Modify car will NOT increase the value of the car... you will 99% of the time spend more money then you could hope to get back on the car... What do you want to do the the car?
-
are you going to paint the front bars black? also that dash looks kinda shiny... would recommend getting it flocked...
-
i found bimmersport doesn't like remembering you if you log on with the same username from multi ip address...
-
your a wheel slut
-
maybe someone should do a FAQ on basic upgrades / rough cost / gains...
-
i think you will find a car persons definition of a boy racer and a non-car persons definition will be very very different... a car persons view will tend to try and create a differance between Blairs wagon and the rubbish cheap unsafe cars out there... a non car person will see Blairs car and go yup boy racer's car...
-
i don't think it's that specific really... i think generally if you speak to people like my aunt or my parents... if you mention wrx, evo = instant boy racer. loud, lowered car = boy racer legal or illegal mod's don't really matter people can't see - most people can't tell if your car is sitting on 20k of race suspension or no springs on the bump stops...
-
sorry man - i thought the car was already in auckland.
-
Top engine mounting plate area on the 306's do the same thing over time the metal fatigues from rocking of the engine, people think the top mount is shot when it's really the mounting plate for the top mount has torn from the body of the car.
-
Just so i can get my head around this: Car = in auckland at the moment Your friend is going to drive it to where ever you are and then your going to send the car back to auckland? why not call Mike, talk to him about getting the car delivered to him and see how much extra he would charge for the engine swap (I.e he removed the current blown engine and puts the new one in) then talk to Mike about getting the engine thrown onto a pallet (if you want it back) and talk to Dutchy about getting the engine shipped back down to you and then have your friend pick the car up later after all the work is done...

i always dread taking the racecar in for WOF's.
-
why why why.... some one explain it to me... i really don't understand it... maybe it's just me... BUT why spend uber money on the car and leave that stupid damm woodwork in the car... ????? it's awful!
-
Ashkan - do you have content insurance? you might be able to get it covered under that? I know with the racecar insurance i've got 5 grand worth of parts not fitted to the car covered under it's insurance...
-
I can find mine of Rapido's, Apex's, and Bravo's - i'll touch them up and make them a nice series of Bimmersport Wallpapers if people want...

-
Hello Brocky... Glad to have you about on the forum... I'd hazard a word of caution to mod's on your car at your age... only for the insurance hike your no doubt looking at / potentially not getting insurance... I'd check with your insurance company about lowering and increasing wheel size.... not sure if you have to mention you have add'd a factory bodykit to your insurance or not... car looks in good condition tho man...

Fuchs make Silkolene - very good oil, used a lot in motorcycle racers bikes
-
buy a 205 or a 106 spend 10k on suspension and go fast bits, and have a hell of a lot more fun... (also 205's are just as brutal to muppet drivers at the limit as a 911 - well maybe not as but close)
-
rock down to jaycar or tricky dicky, and have a look at the small electronics toolkits, they have some very small needle nose pliers in them typically that you can get into places like that and pull them out...
-
I've got Valvoline Racing 50 in the 205 at the moment as it was a good deal, but i'll be shifting to Motul Crono V300 for the next round of oil changes...
