Why is it a 5 minute job is never a 5 minute job.
DRTDVL replied to JaseNZ's topic in General Discussion
the best is when a 5 min job turns into a 3 week job as you suddenly go, while i'm at it i might as well do.... -
Anyone got a spare front bumper / valance / lip i could just line up against my spare bumper/valance, i've been looking at the shape of the E30 bumpers and would be very interested in how different the shape is to the 205 bumper. vs

Morning everyone... After calling most places today and being told that it's not available, and one rude lady basically laughing say thats far too long for a wheel bolt and they don't exist... grrr I'm looking for EITHER M12 x 1.25 x60/80mm bolts or M12 x 1.25 x 60/80mm studs.... Now i know there are two types of studs press in and screw in. Can anyone tell me the against for the screw in, as for me to use the press in kits i'll need to disassemble the hub to press in the studs... not something i want to do... I've found this place http://www.valleyrallyspares.co.uk/products.php?cat=8 and http://www.priracing.com/product.php/709/9...-overall-length comments and concerns?

Help Urgently required for my E30 Please
DRTDVL replied to Italiano_87's topic in General Discussion
we use to have fun with the new guys and drilling holes for m8 and m10 bolts... so many would drill a 8 or 10mm hole... then wonder why the bolt didn't properly. -
Personally i'd take your car back to standard, get 1-2 years of good clean insurance history AND driving history (avoid tickets! they will want to know if you have had any in the last 5 years!) then look at modifing your car... or just modify it in ways that will not effect your insurance. Lets put this nicely... if you have modifications not listed on your insurance policy they can (and do) have the right to not cover the car as it is no longer the car they agreed to insure. They run on a tick box system basically: mags = yes = tick tints = yes = tick lowered = yes = tick oh sorry you have too many points in our system we can not insure you. I know this as i've just gone through it with my gf's car (2.0 Peugeot 307 - nothing fast or fancy) also we are both over 29 and she has a very clean insurance history/driving history (tickets, fines, etc...)

the pug boys rave about 0 toe in the front... but it will make the car twichy... a few of them are running 1-2 degrees pos - but things supposable get rather funky at speed epically on a rougher surface. there is also comments about fwd creating some natural toe in when on power - but have no idea about that... not that it's relevent.

1 year old 95 Nissan Bluebird SES - drivers rear tyre blew out going around a corner, fished into a bank, launched the car, and then spun 5 times against a row of trees. Bent axles, bent chassis, broken engine mounts, wrapped the radiator around the block... was doing 95 in a 100zone when tyre went pop. landed perpendicular to the road across the ditch... it was fun opening the door and falling into the ditch.

maybe it's me but I think this has to be one of the dumbest comments I've seen for awhile. You congradulatim him for causing 12 grands damage to someone elses stuff??? Get insurance in YOUR name as soon as possible so you can build up a history with an insurance history so when you older and looking to buy a nicer faster more modified car your not starting off as an unkown. Just remember if you do dumb stuff and cause damage when the car is under anouther persons name - they get the resulting in lose of no claim bonuses, bad insurance history, increase premiums, and possiblely rn the risk of having their insurance cancelled as they become too high a risk. Take this as advice from someone who did 38grands worth of damage to a single car in a single car accident while being a named driver on someone elses insurance policy.

Don't worry i'm at the point where if it's less than $200 it seams cheap

seriously man, it's not about the money... a lot of it is basically just spanner time. the biggest costs have been the little things like paints, bolts, washers, etc... they have add'd up soo damm fast. it's unreal. i got the solid bushes about 6 months ago second hand (new never fitted) and never had time to fit them. I've had a good friend MLM give up a lot of his time and he's been a godsend with helping me - i wouldn't have gotten anywhere near as far as i've gotten without his help... I can't stress the benifit of having someone else helping me enough, even if it's just for the chats while working on the car - it lets you get so much more done... Also it's great because they/he's thought of so many other ways of doing things and just things i would have never have thought of doing. Also as a calming factor too, Matt's seen first hand what happens when i get frustrated.... WHOOO BFI!!!!!!!!! what was it an hour with the tap set Matt? Having a friend to help = BIG Motivator

can you measure said spotlight please, so - height, width, depth (to wrap over so covers clear lens completely) I'll see if you can use remains of the sheet i'll order...
-
i was always told when fitting one to take the weight off the towers. i've heard of people using a turn buckle and pushing the towers out before fitting the brace.
-
hahaha i don't... i want to all be done and all it needs is the oil changed, air filter cleaned, and tyres/brake pads replaced... I've now owned the car for over a year now... and i safely say there has been very few weeks where i haven't been working on the car or working on something for the car. But yes - it's coming along nicely... It should be interesting to see how it drives with the larger torsion bars and the solid mounting kit.

classic car motorsport on sky had the e30 series and the open class on last night.

Hybrid - Do you want to measure your lights up you want covered? I'm going to measure the pug ones tonight to see if we could get away with ordering one large sheet vs a couple small sheets. Looks like they have sold out of a few of their films... will wait till they get more stock

Had a good weekend with some work progressed on the 205. Work completed: - all bushes removed from rear axle and new group a solid mount kit fitted (group a mounting kit). - removed all gunk from new torsion bars, sanded down, repainted with zinc paint (red) - swapped over torsion bars from 18mm to 19mm bars - refitted rear axle to the car - refitted exhaust pipe - looked at possible ducting path for cold air feed for intake system (90% complete on intial design) so almost set the following on fire: - garage - meths bottle - 205 racecar - plastic tarp - plastic lower dash console (removed from car) - wooden cabnet items actually set on fire: - knee pads - speaker wire - contrete floor - haolgen lights note to self: rubber bushes will retain enough heat to flash ignite meths, which when being poured from a bottle will not be good, quickly moving bottle will result in flying flaming meths drops/streams... Do not do again! Using 6inch g clamps as a press works very well when mated with 50mm square galv washer plates to increase surface area over the bushes. When I was refitting the exhaust i noticed the exhaust gasket was screwed so replaced it with z new one I had laying around.
