w3rdthe man wants economy... the truth is spoken get a honda or toyota but on the topic a well looked after e30 (not 318i cos they're slugs) imo is a better option than an early e36 for the money you pay anyway.

alternatively a filter from repco is approx $15

wtf !!!!!???????since when were there cv's in the front of a rear wheel drive? the knocking from the left rear is either the wheel bearing or more likely one of the bushes, you can test your shocks simply by pushing down on the car hard and letting go if it pings up and stays up the shock is generally fine, if it wallows up and down a bit its f**ked. the running rough business does sound like an intake problem. maybe your afm is sticking or a hose is split bla bla bla. cv's in the front

i'm pretty sure there is already a topic on this but anyhow.... little flaps halfway up on either side lift up to reveal allen key style lugs, undo them and pul out stereo, unplug stereo. rewire new stereo, (may require cutting off plug?) install new stereo following the instrutions if new, use the easy sleeve method where it simply holds itself in place and can be removed using the removing tools. something like that, it's childsplay really.

no need to brag ........ we know you're cool

cheers for the help guys. i retested to see if there was a spark and i got one so.. i removed all the plugs to see if i'd flooded it and they seemed fine, i replaced them anyway and tried again! i believe its a fuel problem so i squirted some fuel into the manifold and tried again, still no progress!! i am now left with an undiagnosed problem thats either electrical or fuel related and i don't know what to do except tow the bitch to ernst, or shall i slap in a new fuel pump and see how that goes?

I have diagnosed why my car will not start, it's not firing! the dizzy is sick. i have been told that the problem is generally not in the cap or the rotor and a whole new dizzy is usually required! BUT... what else is there other than the cap (points) and the rotor to go wrong? I NEED HELP......... shall i attempt to mend the dizzy or shall i remove it completely and replace with a second hand one, if so how do i do this without f**king up whatever else is attached to it? knowledgable advice would be much appreciated, thank you

like somebody said the majority of police only flick their radars on when they see you and its too late for you to slow down! everyone i know with a radar detector including one person with a V1 and jammer have been caught speeding! if you get a detector you will speed! you will get caught! and you will be really pissed off! so the moral is don't waste money on a radar detector just learn to control your urges to speed and choose the right time and place to do it, and be more aware of what's goin on around you! thats my strong viewpoint on the topic at the moment anyway.

can get you a hydraulic trolley jack for 20 bucks! and axle stands for an extra 20
-
so............ the owner of the rs4 i drove just lost his license for speeding, so his son (my mate) had to drop him off in it, apparently it did some serious 4wd drifts so dunno bout that understeer thing, (atleast not with traction control off) . somehow the valentine 1 and radar jammer let him down! also my friend has an escort passport bla bl bla radar detector and also got a ticket. kinda puts me off radar detectors aye they are a false sense of security eh.
