  1. Hi Y'all. I'm curious, my baby has a genuine 1 lady owner e30 320 with original gold rims, 14's I think? Well She wants to do the 17's look... So i been seeing lots of 2nd hand mags on ebay, off various makes and models, some look okay, but they all reasonably cheap, people upgrading newer model cars etc. If we got some of these conversion spacers, dunno how wide they are, negligible? stud depth? We can change it to 5 stud... get the idea? But what will fit and what wont in terms of height and offset/ Shucks I may as well buy her a set of springs and struts too, I'm a generous daddy! This is WA, we dont have WOF's for cars here, drive them til they drop! Dont bore me with technicalities, which models would fit if it were a 5 stud and possibly wider? offset? This shite confuses me...
  2. Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric for me! 245X45X18 $1600! looked up a few reviews before I decided what to buy!
  3. Um, gotta add my story here! i'm gunner get one if I ever go on a long haul again, I don't spped around town, maybe 140 at night on the freeway, if it's quiet... But last year I drove from south of Perth to Onslow, 1500km's in 12 hours. I only exceeded the speed limit a couple of times, all the way from Geraldton to Carnarvon, then there to Onslow... 180-200km/h. long desert roads.. BUT I GOT CAUGHT a few weeks later, 167km/h just cruising from Onslow to Karratha, cop car behind a road train. then the same cops, same place on the way home 127km/h, cos I saw them... $1000 fine, impounded 28 days, They let me drive back to Onslow! 6 month disqualification. valentine 2 Is about $1000 or close. But the coppers here are using lasers now. They are charging about $1600 from memory for a set of reversing sensors mounted by your No. plates to block the laser! The old radar guns and speed cameras are being pushed out to regional WA, country towns, the lasers are for the flash cops in the city. Now they are introducing cameras under overpasses which time your journey, if you come in under time, you get a fine! Just nail it after the last overpass and take the next off ramp, if I wasn't a responsible mature age driver.. Cheap radar detectors, no such thing, plenty of videos on ewe tube etc doing comparisons, handy thing called the interweb, they do all the research for you. Me I'm not gunner bother!
  4. But Shirley I can take that drive plate off and take it to a shop with a press? Or strip it in my drive and get the mobile mechanic out just to press them in and out. It's my daughters car, so it's not like I'm gunner be stuck there with no wheels! Or does it need to go into the shop? I gotta take it there anyway, get another rack for it, Has to see the car to know which type it is. I've been to T/A too! nearly got killed, only whitey in a garage full of bro's! Lived to tell the tale... Andy at Beemer Motor Workshop Maddington, Perth that is. Looks after me, lot's of spare parts, nose what he's doing and doesn't charge the earth!
  5. Hi Y'all. Is it easy to change the rear wheel bearings? I've seen the diagram on real oem. Can I do it in my driveway? Do I need to press the bearings out or anything? It's got a leaking rear seal on the motor, do I need to drop the crank out to fix that? If so, someone else can do it! I've got to change the steering rack, so If I have to drop the front end to get at the sump I may as well do it al at the same time... Or take it to my mate Andy at Beemer Motor World. Every time She takes it to 'the garage across the road' or something, they come back with ridiculous quotes. Time and again, take it to someone that knows what they're doing. Get it done properly in half the time. Even if I do end up having to pay for it myself.... But, yeah, wheel bearings please?
  6. I woke up monday ann my car was gone, but there was an e30 in my garage.. I knew I was drunk... It's idling poorly, drops out and surges... Wood this just be an unrelated issue, clean the ICV, or perhaps related to the electrics? Still waiting on the right coil... Also, are all ICV's the same? I've a couple spares, 1 off an e23 ann another out of an e34 525. I scavenge bits from any cars that pass my way... Mind you, Del's car has a new one. Just curious?? Cheers Y'all. from Mt Keith, in the middle of nowhere!
  7. Yup, it was the rotor, had 2 lend her my car while I was away at work, and she's scraped my mags! Still waiting on a new coil, they kept giving us the wrong one. It's idling like crap now, I'll clean out the ICV when I get back, have to lend her my car again. And yeah, that e28 needs a good home, I'm paying storage on it & I'm over it! FREE TO A GOOD HOME!
  8. Yeah, cheers, checked that, all good. New pipes, hoses intakes etc when we bought it...same thing happened to mine e34 once, 'kept running at 4000rpm! Couldn't slow it down, scary, but fixed that... It's running pretty hoary, even at idle. Changed the coil, fine, but not for long... PS buy my e28! see your mate that was gunner buy it, anti...
  9. hi Y'all, Quick question, quick answer?? '90 e30 320i auto... "Dad, my cars playing up... can I borrow yours?" So I swapped cars. Hers was running like the spark plugs were all hammered closed.. Missing and farting around. So I took it home and swapped the coil out of the old e23 735. Improvement straight away. That was the problem, coil's shot... BBBut, after driving round for an hour, the same problem recurred, rough at idle, not pulling away. Clears at about 2500 rpm. So after searching round for an auto shop that will sell a coilo, no luck. I came home and scoured my junk pile for another coil. Better again, but still farting around... So have I lucked upon 3 coils 5 minutes from the bin? or is it something else? It had a new fuel pump about a year ago and has all the injectors serviced. The fuel pump was an aftermarket, not oem?? Normally idles fine, so I' thinking electrical...? Any quick fixes? Or do I have to put her car in the shop and leave her mine for the next 2 weeks? Cheers Y'all.
  10. Yeah, but what about around the other way?I get heaps of stuff from US TMS etc. still cheaper than NZ!
  11. Wht did I move here? Um, maybe jobs for everyone, making, maybe 4 times what I was making at home! There's a few ozzies left here, but were slowly taking over!
  12. These ones were about $300 US! Hard to beat that?I'm in Western Australia, so shipping from NZ probably a bit prohibitive, Think US is closer? I wonder if I can 'swap' them around? put the front header on the rear, an VV?
  13. Pretty much says it all, wood these headers fit a Right hand drive e30, my daughters car. they're a lot cheaper than any I've seen, but wood they clear the steering? Could easily 'adjust the down pipes? Yeah or nah? http://www.bimmersport.co.nz/forums/index....st&id=33760
  14. Yeah I kinda figured that wood be the case, computer wiring injectors maf etc etc.Started looking for an old e23. Found an e32 750! But nah they want $ for it. Mind you i could strip it... Plan on reinforcing the front bumper and radiator shroud. IMO that's what kills most of the Demo Derby cars, taking a hit front and centre... Use a little strategy, side swipe the front of cars to smash their steering, use the back of tha car, and generally stay out the way of people. I'd like to win it. and I reckon with some german grade steel round me I can, biggest worry is cooking the engine, electric fan, solid mount the motor... I could use that e28 I have sitting in Invercargill in storage, costing me $ I'll never see again...
  15. I've always wanted to dress down an old tank to put in the demo Derby. I've just come home from a night out at Kwinana Motorplex Perth, just 10 minutes down the road... Holdens and Fords smashing it up.. There was an old merc in there, which did well, T boned a XB wagon and tipped it over, got hooked up and retired with a blown radiator, shoulda kept driving til it died! Anyway, my new dream is to get an old 7 series, an e23, strip it out. have to make a fuel tank, which would be problematic, but not impossible, electric fan, solid mount the motor, weld the doors.... Have Mein Furher standing out the sunroof, German Marching music or Hitler speeches on a loudspeaker! just for a laugh, Not a nazi! i'm sure it would become a targdet! But the steel is far harder than the aussie tanks! so My only problem now; is, the electrics? how can I strip out the dash and everything and leave the wiring for the computer, the engine etc? can I simply run a live wire to the engine harness, or coil? Is this possible at all?? plan B would be to drop an old V* in it and do away with all the wiring, but Wouldn't be the same as the big 6! I'd only buy a wreck, e23's are cheap cause no-one wants to fix them (still got 1 here but it's too good to wreck!) Promise I wouldn't destroy a good car just to get my kicks! So please, if anyone can shed some light on this, and not get bent about the Hitler stuff (He had Merc's) i'd appreciate it. Cheer's!
  16. for Sale $500 giveaway price. '86 520i e28, cant say howmany miles, but reasonably tidy. I cooked the motor teasching my sont o do O's & 8's on the beach. Went to australia for 6 months & left the car at cylinder head specialist, a mate of mine. Was meant to be mates rates but the woman in his life would have none of that. head's been welded, milled, xrayed cat scanned etc, engines been out, new frost plugs. never touched the bottom of the engine, but still spent over $2k. It's sitting in a containaer out of that southland weather, costing $ in storage & i aint never conming back, not down south anyway.. It's pretty tidy & always went well, for a 2l... Obviously it's deregistered. I'd like to get more for it than that, it's cost me $3k + all up. it needs a radiator & a new battery. Has acouple of rusty spots on the rr door & the control arm bushes were pretty clunky. Sorry about the stupid bonnet scoop, it was a good idea at the time... I'm dumping all my crap & clearing the container, costing me more than the cars worth. gotta mate in Invers has the keys for the container if you wanna look, but $500, as is, trust me! I steam cleaned it too. Before i put it away it sat outside for a year!
  17. Hey mate, thanks for that, i've found an ebay store for raceland, the listings for headers for about $128.. but no way of contacting them thru the ebay store...Also there's a raceland which sells models. Do you have a link? what do you think about the headers in the picture I posted? reckon the front pipe can be modified to fit? Will the actual headers fit? Cheers.
  18. Hi Y'all thanks for that. I've got no intention of transplanting engines, it's perfectly fine as it is. The exhaust is a bit patchy so I thought we'd replace it , front to back. It's my daughters car not a doorslammer, we're just looking for a bit of a performance boost, maybe a chip as well. She'd be mad happy with this and a new set of wheels (gold bbs basketweaves std), drop it a bit... New Question: I'm posting a picture of these LHD headers, I'm wondering if the front part of the headers would clear the steering box etc, and just manufacture the dump pipes to suit/ IME the flange is a PITA, we're not dropping them for racing, so we'd probably weld them solid.
  19. Hi y'all e30 m20b20 headers, Western Australia. My daughters car, we've decided to put off buying an e46 for now and spend up some on her e30. I've been looking for a set of headers, there's some on pelican, shorties with separate front pipes, and a reasonable price. there's other full length headers, but they LHD and the best part of $2k. Anyone help us out with a link? Usa is a good buy for us in ozzy at the moment. Also doing the suspension Eibach/ Bilsein, what rims would fit inside on this package? Bilstein sports drop car 1.5". This is all just for looks really, there's no racing. thanks Y'all.
  20. I must be doing something wrong, e34 530i ann I do easily 600k's on a tank, 11.3 on the readout. have had it down to 9.3 average, dunno how to reset the mileage, or how it works it out?? And for you south Island blokes I gotta e28 I gotta give away, check buy sell on here. it's awesome on gas, it's been parked up the last 6 years...
  21. Hi Y'all. Sorry can't upload photo's from here. But i got an '86 e28 520i. this was my first BMW, several years ago now I cooked the engine, teaching my boy 0's & 8's on the beach. I left it at cylinder head workshop in Invers with my mate Paul that runs the drag cars... he's taken the motor down, welded and milled the head, had the motor out, changed the frosty plugs. It's all complete now, back in the car and has been sitting in a container about 3 years. Needs a battery anna radiator to go. But has been sitting, may need a lube? I was gunner have it fixed up and give it to my daughter, but we all moved to Western Australia. I'm gunner come back over there shortly, it's costing me money in storage & I'm just over it. It's rego has long expired, it was branded as an M520i ann it's a South Africa build. I think it's a sports model or something, has all the extras, sunroof, spoiler, fog lights... So really I don't want anything for it, perhaps my body weight in alcohol? I can just dump it, but I'm putting it out here in the hopes I can find a good home for it! i'll see if I can find some photo's but the body is tidy, no rust. It sat outside for a year, so I steam cleaned it before I put it away. reply here with mobile number if you're intersted. save it from the wreckers! cheers.
  22. Yeah thanks, I've had the car 3 years and never bothered to fix the passenger door lock! Can open the drivers door with a dead battery. Didn't think you could, consequently never tried it... I know where the battery is too, thanks. Thanks y'all anyway!
  23. Hi Y'all. quick story.. My daughter who occasionally apears on here as Bite My Wire.. nice e30.. She's now assistant manager at supercheap rockingham Perth WA K' so her friend gets ajob there. The friend who got caught driving my girls car a year ago and got it impounded... So she 'borows Adele's keys outa her bag & goes for a drive. The Police rock up.. "cum out to the car park, where's your car" OMG where's my car..? Girl had borrowed it, accidentally run somebody over... It's her third offence, so if adele had lent her her car, which she would;'t... straight to the crusher! As it is she had no hesitation laying charges, faced with the option of having your precious car crushed for something someone else did... what else could you do. think she's looking for new friends!
  24. Um, duh. the drivers door opens! Duh, cos my last e34, ann my e23, once the batteries dead you can only open from LHS! Anyone know what size the speakers are? My daughter works at supercheap I usually get her to look up parts for me, then gobi it sumwear else. Also enquiring all over for a rear muffler TMS, pelican have supersprints at $727 $US Asking about remus too, but cant find anything older than e39... Speakers, exhaust.. could go a new set of tyres too! All work ann no play! Yeah I tghought the same thingabout lasers, they handheld, not many of them about in rural Pilbara. They had to let me drive the car back to Onslow ann hand it over to the local cops within 7 days, cos they couldn't leave us stranded in the desert! No storage no impound no towing.. and I got caught on the way home at 128. At least I learned my lesson ( DON'T GET CAUGHT AGAIN)
  25. Um thanks, how do I charge the battery if I cant get into the car?Dont plan on going anywhere until december so radar can wait. Good brand for exhaust? supersprint is $727 US on pelican, looking for comparisons. Was trying to find the speaker sizes WITHOUT taking them out! But thanks!
