  1. Yeah, 30Amp, tried a few different brands to make sure it wasnt a cheapie too.
  2. Hey guys, quick question; Got moss growing on some parts of rubber around my windows. Any decent ways to remove it? soapy water or something? oh, and also my rear window demister fuse (under the passenger seat) gets unbelievably hot when in use. To the point where it melts the fuses plastic (doesnt blow the fuse) and deforms it. Any ideas if thats normal?
  3. The E34 normally does about 13L/100Km around town with a lot of stopping and going. Open road the missus can get it down to about 9.5, whereas my best is only 10.5! Different driving styles huh . It was running quite badly a wee while ago, getting about 18L/100k.. rough idle, lack of power etc turned out to be the pipe from the airflow meter to the engine inlet had worked itself loose, bloody hard to see! had me a bit worried though! Also, what do you guys reckon about running wider tyres.. you reckon it affects fuel economy much?
  4. My E34's temp sensor is the same, just hanging down keeping it real.
  5. Yeah, I think you did it the right way.. whereas I did it the wrong way.. For a stone chip and deep 'scuff' I applied the touch up paint in a square shape, being stupid enough to think, "itll blend nice when its dried". Then applied the lacquer thinking the same thing. Now the chips gone, but you can see a nice little square... hmmm
  6. Yeah _Matt_, Id also be keen to know the process you took. I recently used the BMW touch up paint, looks a little rough and on a sunny day it sicks out like the proverbial dogs bollocks. I think I need to sand the lacquer down?
  7. Just for anyone's information who has this problem in the future, dimmer switch was at fault. Replaced and now everything's back to normal. Easy fix! Thanks again Brent. Now, whats next to go wrong! Place bets now..
  8. Huff3r, is that Woodbourne? Can see my old barrack room! Small world.
  9. Communications and Information Systems (CIS) Technician.. basically deal with the radios and computers.. What years were you in? What did we have before the E? a bit before my time! Sorry, dont mean to hijack the thread...
  10. Yeah, I was deployed on that camp at the time. I had no idea it was going to show up! Sounds 'real' compared to the little CT4's haha. Such an amazing aircraft, its a pity about the one in China =/
  11. Awesome, thanks for the advice guys. Ill give it a go and let you know if it works.
  12. Do you know where the dimmer control is located and how much a replacement would cost?
  13. Hey guys Well I've tried googlng but no one else is having the same symptoms as I am. Basically when I start the car, the bulbs behind the dash gauges, bulbs behind the obc buttons, bulbs behind the temp control/fan speed and under my hazard light button surges from normal down to very dim and sometimes cuts out all together. However, the bulbs behind my lcd display in the dash and behind my obc lcd and stereo are totally unaffected, as to are all exterior lights. I've checked all fuses and battery terminal connections, I believe it could be an earthing issue.. But that is a guess. I forgot to mention that after a few k's everything returns to normal.. Bizarre. Could anyone shed any ideas on the problem? Google suggested it my be the lkm, ignition switch or faulty battery terminals but as its only for those mentioned bulbs, not the whole car It makes me think it may be something relatively simple.. Or so I hope. Sorry for any typos, Wrote this in my phone. Any advice would be great, Nick
  14. Hey guys, So as of today, when I was coming home from work I found the 540i was running a bit rough, parked it idles a little low, rises to normal then drops back down at random intervals quiet quickly. When I accelerated slowly, it felt like it was surging forward. At highway speed, everything was fine, though it seemed a little down on power. After about 10km's it came right, as if nothing had happened but still felt a little down on power, and am getting about 14.0L/100km where as I normally get 11-12. Can anyone suggest what the problem may be? Airflow meter perhaps? Thanks, Nick

    A Detail in detail

I know this is ages ago, but is this offer still up for grabs? or can anyone else get mothers for cheap?
  16. Hey guys, We'll Ive fitted some 265's on the rear of the 540i and they're giving a bit of guard rub when I have a full tank, and weight in the boot. Ive been talking to people about solutions and I think the best would be to put negative camber onto the rears, as well as the benefit of handling improvements. I just dont know how much camber adjustment the E34 gives, searching around it seems that the camber and toe is fixed but I dont really know. Will I need to buy a camber plate for adjusting it? Can anyone recommend some places to take it to (I was thinking centreline suspension as Ive had good results from there before)? Kinda keen just to take it somewhere and get them to take care of the whole process! Any advice you guys can give me would be great. Nick
  17. Wow, last few pages have completely changed my opinion of what an E36 can look like. They're stunning! Deeeeeep dish goodness.

    My E34 540iA

They're all pretty good. Slight leak from the bottom of the power steering reservoir and a bit of oil seepage from the bottom of the gearbox and diff. Ive been monitoring it closely and will get them sorted this coming service. Does anyone have any ideas on prices for getting these sus'ed?

    My E34 540iA

Thanks for the positive feedback guys. Mike, currently its on Nankangs NS2's. Front 235's, rear 265's.. so plenty of grip! haha. Will look at replacing with the same rubber, though dont know much about tyres, are they decent? Exhaust wise, I honestly dont know the techincal specs. I know the guys (recommend through HellBM, as he had his E39 540i's done there) put in a couple of decent sized resonators up the front and a straight through stainless muffler going into twin tips. I remembered what you said about the magnaflow when you put it on and was worried it would sound over the top but it actually sounds really good, coming onto the motorway with power sounds amazing! haha. Ill try get a good audio clip at some stage...

    My E34 540iA

Hey Guys, Well since buying my first 540i off MikeE34, Ive been wanting to do some small changes to it. It took me a while to think of what I wanted the end result to look like, as I love the old E34 shape and didnt wanna put any filthy aftermarket kits or anything trashy. So heres what it looked like when I first got it: Since then Ive added: - Tints, 35% all around - Sports exhaust from Al's Mufflers, awesome results! - New rotors/pads - Beyern Style 5's, Simon*'s old ones So heres what it looks like now: Things that I still want to do: - Replace current sound system - Lower the front a little bit, any recommendations how? - New rubber is going on next week - Somehow fix the "Lic Plate Light" OBC error! - Respray the front bumper, as its quite heavily stone chipped - New gas struts for the hood What do you guys think?
  22. Hey guys, After seeing a boot lip spoiler on a friends E39, Ive been throwing around the idea of getting one for my E34. Ive tried googling to pull up some pics, but nothing really decent. I also remember a bunch of you guys did a big group buy of them a while back. Anyway, does anyone have any images on them fitted to an E34? What are your opinions of them? Prices etc Thanks

Woah, awesome work! Im having the exact same problem, but on my E34. No way I can do it by myself though! Did you call around and get any quotes to get it done professionally?
