Nothing wrong with a CA18 if it's set up correctly. Not exactly a massive power house, but, a good value for money engine and would be very well suited to an E30. I'd own it!
-
The 186 and 202 are both terribly depressing, I got the 202 I'm throwing in the E12 [temporary measure] for $180 with a box.I had a 186 Torana once. That was depressing.
Ya cant beat 5.7 litres of cast iron grunt, and I be surprised if the weight was that different.
Needs a 5 speed manual though. That would be fun.
I must agree, the Chev isn't as heavy as people expect, it may have alot of iron, but, the cylinder heads are very compact because it hasn't got over head cams and the wiring is actually less than a m10 that came in the e12! Brilliant if you ask me. Manual is nice =D

Cheers! This is gonna be so badass, keep up the updates mate
Not much grunt as I say sorry . I can get a 350 revving higher than 6500 if I wanted, I want some real torque. A 350 is going to cost less to build unless I decide to go with 75cc heads. The weight isn't too much of an issue to me. Nothing wrong with pushrods210kw 286hp 400Nm
and they rev to 6500rpm .
and weigh a lot less than a cast iron push rod v8 .
good bang for buck i reckon
There is no doubting the m60 is a brilliant motor, but not my choice in this case, if I had an e21 it would be a different story

Robbie Williams......

I do love the m60 v8, but, they are more work to set up and to be rude not very grunty. I like my basic old chev motors
-
Yes, they are terrible.Cheers Cam, I've read the brakes on the R32 GTR are sh*t even with stock Horsepower.
-
I agree, should be a barrel of laughs too with 14 inch wheels. I'll throw the 202 in within the next few weeks [and get depressed with it's lack of power/torque] and finally have a mobile, rust free and straight bodied E12. Then the V8 parts buying starts.
I have a friend with a 350 chev block I could use, it has a small scar in one bore, so, a 383ci kit may be something to consider. It's either that or buy a "grease pack" 350 and throw new pistons, rings etc into it. Will only cost me $400-500 depending if I go with new pistons or not. Good cheap power!

I thought so, as it had big/little lights like an E28....
I was thinking about gunmetal grey.
But I have to think of something that will look nice on the car with standard wheels and bumpers
The burgandy is really sexy though.

The orange one is an E28 isn't it?+1. Yeah a nice orange could look good. Else maybe a light bluey-grey colour? Just my suggestion anyway.
EDIT: Just saw a really nice maroon coloured e12 which suited it also.
I'm in love with the maroon one and that is one of the top colours on my list, it's bloody yummy

What ever is recommended by BMW?

Quick update, new springs are in the rear. Engine and box are out, I'm sick of the smoking. Diff has new seals in her
I have a sh*tty 202 and trimatic floating around, that will be going in until I have the real motor sorted.
All of the body work is done, now to prep for paint! I do love a long term project, it lets everything be perfect.
Will post up pics when I manage to get the new camera to work.
Any suggestions on color choice?

Exactly why it's a fail.....^^^ wouldn't be too bad if it didn't have that paint job and the wheels and the blower.
Otherwise its heidious

They are a very nice car, fun to drive too.Get one of these mate
http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/categoryat...order=price_asc
Although its a honda they are very good cars, my mate has one, very economical but great power at the same time and its not a huge car but heaps of space in it.

CM5A Lancer gsr is an ok car, easy to live with, easy to service, nice to drive. Enough power to pass people etc. Or an rsk-b4 legacy, or WRX. R33 GTS25T move along comfortably too. There are many options, even a VR4 galant would do the job, not an early 2.0 v6 though...
-
Should I make the E12 front wheel drive then?Yeah, but RWD makes it more "unique" and "one of a kind"...not many Primera drivers can say they have RWD. A few can say they got 4WD though.
I can see the attraction of having a RWD primera, but, it wouldn't be any good. Unless you want something retardedly loose

Yuck, what's wrong with a plain E36 and E36 m3 kit, not poo and duct tape wrapped in fail juice with a gay sticker

So jealous of the s50!

Could have been a hot 186 or maybe a transplanted 202? They tend to sound very very nice, the Torana GT-R sounded absolutely amazingAbout 15 years ago I used to catch the bus into Wellington from Karori. Every morning a guy would drive down Karori Road in a Holden Sunbird. It was a very nice Sunbird (relatively speaking, I guess it could have been a Torana) but I can still remember the sound of the engine. Definitely a Six but dear god it sounded nice. Super smooth, powerful and with a nice but subdued raspy exhaust tone. It was a well loved machine ($$$). Didn't sound like an old Holden six but who knows, all I remember is that it was the sweetest engine I had ever heard.

Style 5's?If the IC was more stealth. And had awesome wheels it would be fricken awesome.
Why not a 1jz or 2jz? Rb20det's are overweight puss, 350 chev is the ultimate overweight puss! My E12 is straighter than that one. No rust FTW! I better write up a project report one of these days
-
Throw a V8 in it, I am. What a retard! RB20DET FAIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
I knew I was right!I just brought a 328i and love it! Worth every $ so far and suprisingly, uses about the same amount of petrol as my old 1989 320i.
The 328i are absolutely brilliant!
-
I reckon!So a 316 with a 1800cc m42 and some rims and they want 5.5k?
Tell him hes dreaming.

Very nice looking e30!

Wouldn't touch it. Matt black, dodgy wiring....bonnet and door are out of alignment [bonnet is also white underneath] even has a dirty pod filter on it. Looks like an accident damaged raped E30.
