  1. About 3 weeks ago my dads 93 misti parjero was stolen from Birkenhead Wharf while out on the boat. Police were unable to locate it so insurance has paid out. Now hes looking for another tow car for the boat. Looking to spend between 2-8k post 93.

Hes looked a few Range Rovers, Jeep Cherokees, Izuzu Big Horns, Terranos and other Pajeros.

What would you guys recommend? I heard a few bad things about jeep and range rovers but just want another persons opinion.

    Cheers

  2. Def dont get a e36 320i for fuel economy, I made this grave mistake on my first bmw purchase, short stop and start driving in that got me 6-7km/l. I currently have a e46 318i (2.0l) and im averaging 10-11km/l with no motorway driving at all, just short drives to my work and bus stops.

  3. So since selling my e36 320i coupe, i've been looking for a new car. Picked this up the other week. Its not the most highly spec'd car but I think its suitable for a basic daily driver.

Just need tidy it up by getting some more clips that hold the silver cover trim onto the door, the front bumper is missing some trim on the drivers side in the air duct and tends to have a bit of a rough idle sometimes.

The N42B20 seems to be quicker than my old M50B20.

  4. I don't know why but Im not really a fan on hondas. I know they are good cars but i just don't see myself purchasing one.

I guess now at the moment i have my heart set on either a subaru 2.0 non turbo or a 318i. Its just a toss up whether i want the awd subaru or the bmw. downside to subaru's is that the automatics are 4speed autos. so i just gotta go look at a few more and see what i like. having said that i actually haven't driven a legacy much so can't really compare the driving experience to a bmw which i enjoyed.

  5. would like a 3.0l car for the extra bit of grunt but I don't really need the extra power right now.

    considering this

and apparently its been worked on at botany motor worx so maybe glenn may know something about this.

also if i was to get a bmw its either a 320i or 318i e46. (only ones in my price range). is the extra 30 hp from the 2.2l l6 engine worth it over the 2.0l 318i?

  6. Yea i've considered getting a corolla but still have my heart set on a bmw but i guess i have to be realistic at this time of my life. Also if i was to get a bmw i kinda dont' want to get a 4 cylinder rather get the straight 6 so either a 325i or 325i which means i will probably just get a good simple jap daily driver and wait till i have a steady job after uni.

What do you guys reckon out of these type of cars as a daily driver.

Subaru Legacy 03 non turbo B4

    Toyota Corolla GL 2001+

    also a newer legacy

any one recommend any of the non turbo subarus as a dd?

  7. Not really a fan of the TI's. More looking at sedans right now. Gone to a few yards and had a look at some more E46 318i, E46 320i and sum third Gen Legacy N/A. Still preferring the the BMW feel on the road but in terms of performance and efficiency which would be better of the 318 and 320i's? i like the straight 6 but is it the same with the e36's where the 320i's are basically evenly matched to the 318i's? Only looking mainly at these 3 cars as im not after major performance but just a nice car that has a bit of kick when needed.

  8. thanks for the info everyone. My parents said they may loan me some money so i may be able to get another bmw. although i do lik e30's i think i would be either going for a e46 318i or a e46 320i. Also with the new budget also had a look at a few 2003-2004 subaru legacys non turbo ones. they look alright and drive alright but still prefer bmw's. Hopefully i can make up my mind soon.

  9. I have a small decision to make at this time. I recently sold my E36 320i as I was looking to upgrade to a e46 but now I have spent some time thinking and come to the conclusion that I should be more realistic with my choice.

I am 20 years old now and still have 2 years to go of a 4 year course at uni and with a part time job. so instead of a bmw for a next car I was maybe thinking of a cheaper run around car until i get through uni and then get a job after that.

I am looking for something around a 1.8-2.5L car which is economical to drive. I can spend up to roughly 10k at this time but looking to only spend around 8k for a car. Been looking at some ford mondeos, primeras and legacys but want some advice from others on this forum for decent daily drivers. also i dont' want a turbo car due to insurance costs and other reasons.

    Cheers

  10. Hey everyone, I recently sold my E36 320i and now looking at getting a e46. Looked at a e46 318i (just gna get b a daily driver) which was quite tidy except the coolant light was on. I've read on the internet that it could be mainly 2 things.

    1. either coolant level is low.

    2. sensor in the expansion tank could be faulty.

it didn't appear to be leaking any coolant but is there any other main things it could be? also is it a expensive fix?

    Cheers
