  1. Just check mostly everything you've said and everything seems to be fine. Just wondering if my wiring harness is correct. On my passenger side taillight there is 6 wires going into the harness but on the taillight there is only 5 pins + 1 blank hole. On the drivers side there is 5 wires going in and 5 pins in the correct place.

So would this be causing a problem. Heres a few pictures of what i mean. Sorry for the bad pics, an e63 camera sucks.

Edit: Also checked the high stop light wiring and it appears to be correct, goes on when i press the brake pedal along with the other brake lights.

  2. Hey everyone just tidying up the car before I take some decent photos, just wondering where what should i do with the inverter? some diy's i've seen show people putting it inside the headunit under the covers but mine doesn't fit so i was thinking of drillin holes in the cover and feeding the wires thru that and just sitting the inverters on things in the engine bay?

  3. Hey, just a question, I've seen lots of different diy's on installing angel eyes. But i want to install mine on the outter lense so i've cut the silicon and removed the lense. now I im not sure how im supposed to fit them. Are they supposed to just sit in the headlight and then place the lense back over it without it sittin gflush and siliconing it back on or am i meant to stick it onto the actual lense? i have some pictures of what i mean.

    Resizing Photos.

  4. Done a bit of searching online, but still can't find a solution for my problem. I replaced my Aftermarket Depo Lights recently with genuine BMW Clear rears, even with genuine lights, im still getting a tail light failure warning on my obc.

I've checked the bulb connections and theres no corrosion, all the lights are working when i check them but haven't checked the wires in the boot hinge yet. Could that be the problem?

EDIT - Checked to make sure all the bulbs I am using are correct also

    Cheers

  5. wow and i thought my 320i was bad getting 420km town driving. I noticed that when i filled up 1 week with 91 then from half way, topped it up with 95 the mixture combined seemed better got 450km from my tank but probably just the way i was driving. Def try v power and see if it improves. Also what did they do during ur tune up.

  6. If you are looking for cheap option, wht don't you take your factory ones out and run a bead of silicon along the top to stop the leaks, or perhaps BMW sell just the foam seal separately ?

Oh forgot to mention the other problem, is that i broke one of the connections the other week trying to remove some of the water, basically when i removed the bulb the wire connecter broke although im not getting any taillight failure warnings on the obc. think i may fail my wof cause of this.

  7. Okay im taking the plunge to improving the interior of my E36 thanks to the help of other members on the forum in another post.

Looking for a decent seat of half leather + matching door cards. If you don't want to post prices on here you could PM me. Most likely only from people in the auckland area.

Looking also for a diffuser for a stock coupe bumper, mines missing. Is it possible to get a mtec look one or doesn't it fit?

and looking for a gray underdash steering panel

    Thanks

    Brenton

  8. Okay well after living with my interior as it is now for a while, I've decided that I want to change it and get it looking good again.

Currently my door cards are black with white cloth inserts which is getting a little dirty and a gray dashboard and the standard grayish seats.

Kinda want to change my dashboard to a black one and with black half leather seats and with matching door cards... I've seen a thread on another forum about removing the dashboard but it seems a bit complicated (i've never removed a dashboard before).

Do you think its worth doing this.. or would it be easier just to sell my car and get one that I want?

My car currently runs alright, jatco jerk when cold but has a few scratches on the body. Just want a tidy looking interior.

Ideally to make it easier I would prefer to find gray door cards to match my dashboard and return it to its original state but no one seems to have any.

Note: Still a student, so like most.. im on a budget.

  9. Don't forget about the power to weight ratio... 1.6L engine with a heavyish chassis i think.. thats why my 320i gets bout the same or even less than 323i 325i 328i's.... im doing aprox... 14L/100km in stop start driving roughly 5km at a time... but im sure u should be closer to 10-12 per 100km depending on how ur driving

  10. Recently my abs light has been coming on and off. sometimes its off for a few days and every so often it comes on but dissappears once the cars turned off. Recently took my front drivers wheel off to give it a good clean, is there a chance i may have damaged a wheel sensor or something while taking/putting the wheel back on?

I know there may be several other causes but seems to have started after I took the wheel off.

  11. I think it had the 12 pin plug if it was prewired? Apparently if it was then there should be a sticker in the boot somewhere indicating that it was prewired for an alarm. Someone will probably correct me but thats what i found out after a bit of research.

I thinking that the only alternate way is to do it manually

  12. Okay I was giving my left tail light a clean as there was water getting into my boot from the loose gasket seal in it. I took all the bulbs out and tipped it upside down to get most of the water out. Put the bulbs back in and the obc gave a warning about the a tail light failure. Checked it and noticed that when i have my headlights on left part of the taillight (bulb when headlights are on) is not working. The inner 5w bulb is going but the 12w bulb isn't. Checked the connection and noticed that 1 of the 4 metal conductor tabs is missing. Must have lost it when i tipped out the water. I tried to solder a wire to 1 of the 4 prongs on the bulb holder and to the metal circuit part which i think the connection should have been made but it ended up shorting it and blowing a fuse.

My question is that if it is a simple fix by an electrician or basically do i have to buy a new tail light?.
