I saw your topic, I seriously liked the car but its a 535i, not V8. I want a v8 if I am gonna pay anything around 7K. Do you or somebody you know has a good 540i or a 328is (coupe) for sale, I know I am on a budget but my prices are not set in stone, its just to avoid spending more then I should. auto dont matter, lsd would be great but no big deal if it dont have that. Thanks for the heads up, this is why I like coming here. I didn't expect UK cars to have rust issues, will steer clear of those. So only Jap and German NZ New imports(?) saw it, its e39. I wanted e34 for 5 series or e36 for 3 series. I just dont like the newer shapes not to mention the price will also be noticeably higher. same here, I want to own a v8 5 series, but if I cant get a good one other then fixer uppers then I will just have to settle for something less. And if its gonna be less then a 540i as in a straight six then I wont spend more then 3 - 4K on it. I have been duped buying cars without looking at them before, Bought one from ChCh few years back, the interior looks like it was sitting in a farm with homeless people, parts of the car had SPRAY PAINT fron rattle cans on it! somebody else bought a BMW from Chch at the same time, the car turned out to be rubbish. Not the first time I have been duped with buying without inspecting so I try to avoid turners altogather and am very hesitant buying from trademe. Apart from the higher KM's, That looks like a nicely optioned and maintained car, but its a 535i so not v8 power like 540i. I like the colour and Its manual too, But if the condtion is good for the right price I think it could be a good deal. Let me look into it. Allan, hadn't had much opturnity to head out around your end recently. But you do drive a 525i? I mean isn't that more or less the same engine used on the your car and the 325i? probably doesn't help having it on your car, I know what you mean, thats why I have been stearing clear off it, a forum member helped me before when I wanted to check a 328i. Turns out he had drove it earlier and car was a piece of sh!t. Thats why I thought I'd post anyway, you never know. seems most the cars in Auckland have been checked by someone from this forum at one stage or another. like the Green Car I was intrested on. PS: you still set on 8k for yours? Oh my! I keep an extra pair of keys under the garden nome. I thought I should post this here. Car has been listed on trademe since 2012. But no takers. Has anybody seen this car? I am sure somebody must have had a look at it? There is no AC, but said every thing else is good and had been serviced, including a new engine this and that, carjam shows its rego has been on hold for many years now. Also Some information about 5 series cars would be appreciated, between a 325i and 525i, is there any major differences other then the handling and weight? fuel consumption, accelaration and overall drive? I also looked at a few 540i's but I am not looking for a fixer upper (dont have the time and paitience to do too much work) . That said ther was this 540i on trademe but its a bit too over priced at 9.5K. I am trying not to spend more then 6K on a e36 328i or e34 540i, and no more then 7.5K on a 330ci(e46) PS: I only prefer the shape of the late 80's 90's bmws as e34 and e36 coupes, so please no e39 and newer ones the e46 coupes may be an small exception for the right price. - Mongo Mojo..

True man, I was happy with my tiny little reving motor. Look at it this way, the e30 m3's had 4 banger motors too, which produced around 190hp. So I think if I get a 328i I can own a poor mans m3 afterall! Oh Man, I am winning so much.... Very true, I am still looking at that e34 540i on trademe, just between the blue 328i and green 540i.

Sure would appreciate that, dont know why but some member said there was something fishy about that car, they did test it 6 months ago but it was suddently sold for around 3.5 -4k to the guy whos trying to sell it only after 6 months, I initially had my eye on that green car but then steered clear. now I am set if I am able to get the blue one, otherwise I might have to consider the green car as an option. Would find it very helpful if you did have a look for all of our sake. the car has been on trademe for 2 months now but no takers, See how the drive, take her for a spin on the motorwat, if theres any overheating, or maybe the interior is falling apart. Maybe he stuffed up the gearbox. I still kept that car at the bottom of my list, dont know why. Nobody took it I guess that also put me back. But see if you like it and it checks out. I did have a friend in auckland, but hes out till later this year, or would just ask him.

I agree with pretty much what you said blue. sadly its true. people see the badge not the car. / I am thinking to call the guy and throw my 6K offer at him, but seems even his exhaust is standard. damn it I want my perfect e36 328i.

forget the exhaust, get a m50 mani, get a m3 us s52 cams, get a software to flash the car system, to maximize the hp gain and minimize the low end torque from the m50 manifold mod. Thats what I heard. anyway nno need for a thousand dollar custom tune, there is a preloaded software like shark injector I think from some US shops. look up their forums.. You plug it in your car, it installs the software in like half an hour. = 220WHP, Thats like 250 - 260HP at the crank, No kidding.. most people dont do the cam swap because well its a PIA for most people, also to get a hold of them without the whole motor, but you can get them uf you look around the right places. Then if you stroke the motor you can get even more power but I dont think I can be bothered going that far. Theer are other mods like BBTB, CAI, Headers and Exhaust but they wont gain you more then 5 - 10 HP max. Do the Manifold, and cams and chip. Maybe ad an LSD. Thats it. You wont need anything more. since you are getting a stick you will benifit more. I was thinking to convert to stick before I parked my car near allans house, in a ditch. got some rear quarter pannel damage thats all. otherwise cars fine. So now looking for a 328i. You aren't selling by chance are you? Maybe buy a stick to begin with and let me have yours? I wont mind an auto and was planning to leave NZ in a few years time so would give it back to the community for a good price. Sell it to me??

i know what you mean, they keep fixing the roads all over where I live, so much gravel, they hit the car and the windshield. I have seen usually crashes happen on the roads close to home, the ones you have been a million times, the ons you just "know", and all of a sudden you feel your head hurts(?) maybe from the enourmous driving pleasure, or that your confidence of driving a car that drives like its on rails and the fact of knowing the road so well that you feel just cant go wrong, this feeling takes over, then you make one little mistake and failure to react properly or in time and boom, it comes outta nowhere. I have see some crashes before, funny story i went to see a car and the woman said her daughter recently had a crash in her 5 series(or was it 7?) Anyway truck got her from the side through the drivers door, she suffered some leg damage but was unscratched otherwise. I think parents bought her another one now. dont listen to blue, he just pretends not to be a cheapscape, kinda like me ..see he hasn't crashed enough cars yet, he gets put off because I parked my car in a ditch so now I am ditch boy. Take care man, and happy and safe driving, go fast, just a lttle bit, but not too fast, just enough, just enough but then slow down a bit more around the corners...and then go faster again all the best driving, be safe and take care

I think its around $1500 drive in auto, drive out manual. Regardless of whomever you choose to get it done from. MAKE SURE THEY INSTALL NEW BUSHINGS AND EVERY THING.

and what if I bought anything? Okay I admit I am being very picky and radicalizing it, but I am just not finding what I want, lol. I think even if I paid 6.5K I wont find one with LSD, or if I do it wont hav the msports stuff or might have a bad interior. Okay I admit so far the Blue car gets very close to what I want minus an LSD box. So now I will offer him more.

PS; if things go south when she gets back home, well dont use the backyard, go hiking up the woods, find a quiet place where nobody visits. on second thought its probably better to fool her into your hiking trip and then take care of the matter there, will save you the back pain with walking with all that weight. why make it complecated.

I want it! put a m42 in it, it will be better then an m3 track car. lol. Saw one on trademe too. plenty of room for 2 people and a dog too, and if move the door a bit higher, you can make enough room for 3 different sexual positions!

I know what you mean, have you ever taken your 5 up mt. tiger? thats where I go when I want some real twisty driving, fast, slow, fast, break, turn, turn again, speed off... Kamo is good too, but its too open and straight. But the 318i was hella fun around corners, the m50 just felt bloated and handeling wasn't as confident. what do you say Allan... should I take the plunge and take it for 6K ish? Have the e36/328i's in good condtion hit rock bottom? As in could I sell it off in a few years without taking a big hit? (if I didn't park it again infront of your house.? that good ol chubby blue is probably drunk by now like boris yatsin @ the fall of the USSR nope, its only 4pm, cant be time for him to wake up yet.

I had a look at it today. cant say it was too bad but cant say was good either. Paint was okay. the door cards are usual a bit sag here and there. shocks seemd avarage ~ stiff. the throttle was a bit less responsibve which bothered me the most and the car felt a bit underpowered untill I had to floor it. I must say my 318is motor was more responsive! exhaust was replaced, no rust under it, but probably exhaust was repalced due to rust issues in canada. just did basic services as oil change. I think I will keep looking. Too bad colins one has a dirty headliner and the door cards are sagging and its silver too, Otherwise it looks pretty decent then most crap I have seen listed for sale on trademe

Blue is right I think its been enough guys, we have exhausted out options, i get the point, Nothing is on trademe worth looking atm, meanwhile let me see if I can pop in and view the local white car this weekend. You know like Jared said, maybe if the suspension is still good and everything else is in order then it wont be such a bad car once the pannels have been color matched and I do a bit tlc and call it a day. Jonesey I agree with what you say brother, seems the car market has changed a lot in the last decade. asking price $6500 price offered $5500. I'm offering like 80 - 90% of what they ask. and if they still wont budge then I'll look else where. asked the guy for a viewing time, he takes too long to get back, he was supposed to send mw some pics this afternoon but never got back o me. Will call up and see where it takes me. hes like 20 mins away. anything I should look out for? from the pic it seems it only has 1 exhaust tip! very unusual 325i should have 2. I hope the guy isn't trying to dupe me.

Personally I prefer to call it an orange coloured lemon. Patients does it, rushing for 2 weeks got me nowhere.

PS: What do you guys reckon? the guy said the interior is very good and the head cloth was replaced recently. maybe if it checks out and everything else is good. Then the white car with some msports side skirts, a acs or msports front bumper and a msports rear....would look.. any thoughts on this? what do you think of the wheels on it, its genuine bmw spokes, should I swap them out with my wheels(got lots of curbing)?

about 1.5 sec slow to 0 - 60 compared to the 328i and 2 seconds faster then a 318i. imo, all cars other then the M cars are slow. But still German horses seem to pull harder then most other horses. Also we need to keep in mond the 328i was artificially made slower and under ratted due to some German insurance issues, with some basic mods (headers,m50 intake,injectors,3.5maf,m3 cams and a good software can do 115-220whp. (around 250 at the crank). That looks nice, the factory wheels are spot on! the km's are low too. I saw a car just like that earlier last year, it was a 328i and the guy only wanted 2500, but i declined since there was some rust on the rear quarter panel, the car drove a bit funny and too much of the interior falling apart and I was in a phase of shifting. But lets see, I am sure something will turn up. I thought at this state of their lives the suspension wouldn't matter that much and would require some work. I was thinking to do some basic suspension work, maybe an semi overhaul anyway? skrew da spellingz dood. The Glove box is good blue, I also have like one in my 318is I like to imagine a e34 540i. but I just cant get to imagine a e46 328i, 330 or anything. I know I am being a bit anal about it but ahh.. Dont know why people list cars these days, they never seem to want to respond to basic queries, sent that guy a text to send me some more pictures and asked a few questions about the service details. he txts me back saying he will soonish...then I never heard back from the guy..
