Looking at these 2. Not 328i's, I know; But I am considering them if the 3 series falls http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/540i/auction-684192294.htm ^ I like this but its got a tow bar and its green http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/540i/auction-683146522.htm ^ The Wheels are Black, Otherwise I like it a lot, however this seems a bit overpriced.

yea small case if I recall, it might be 3.45 or something?

just drive it, like after 9AM. its only 5KM. Put some plates on and drive as usual. If I were near you, I would take it down for you. If the poo poo stop you 99% they wont. You tell them its being taken to a garage, trust me, most cops don't know the law. they just make it up as they go along. I have been driving in NZ for like 10 years now. And I have done some stupid mistakes, never had a ticket. But noticed my friends got pulled over for nothing but looking at a cop the wrong way since the cop didn't signal. Cops either really like me and go buddy buddy or they just dont. lol. I have driven cars with no rwof, no ego, or rego on hold for years and have had cop cars pass me by, once I was in this car with a friend from auckland, we just finished the work on the transmission and we went for a drive at sunset around the local uni. Cop car passes us by and I pretend to talk to my friend like we dont even care if its a cop in front of us. We get out of the place a while later and push the car in a lone street, everything goes smooth so we get back on the 50 road on way back its the same cop he sees us cursing by him, he pulls his poooo pooo siren he trys to make a U turn but cant since cars are just coming off the motor war into the 50 zone, by the time he makes a U turn, we had already disappeared from the main road into a nearby ally and from there back home through some little twisty roads. Went the next day and got a wof & rego 6 KM away. It helps to f&*k a cops daughter, sister or his wife. I wouldn't mind helping you with that either if I was closer by. Just drive it man.
-
I think if you put them in neutral and the hand break down you should be able to tow them, 5 Km is not that much dude. Just be careful towing behind another car. (the steering wheel locks without the keys in)

Another day bro, another day...no worries. Its like 10 now. Gotta suck doing all that work yourself inside some office. Hopefully your workmates will come over next week and you will get off early. I dont want to make her my offer just yet you know. I think she might think I am trying to low ball her out of whats the car worth, and If I paid her 5K I will be letting myself pay more then what the car is worth with all the minor problems. Besides what if it turns up you were right and the car drives like crap. you never know until you test it out. But I will get in touch with her anyway. hope you have a good weekend

Unbelievable, how much these cars have depreciated. Still $3900 for an E39 in good condition is a steal. Why did they sell it so cheap? I saw a few riced out ones but even those were asking 7K+. Do you have a link to your ride? I am curious to see just what you got. You are right on brother, i am going to go for it, lets see how Graham finds it, the red one seems to be the only one I found that I like on tm apart from the other one in Christchurch (your neck of the woods lol), although the interior is falling apart in places as usual, but it has some options and a good service record, its just that I think the owner of the red one might react in a negative manner if I made the offer just yet. So Waiting till I get some feedback from Graham, who knows it could be that it looks good from the outside but drive and motor is crap. I think I will take it if she lets it got for 3.5K or grab a nice 540i.
-
Yea, I am still quite keen on it, the owner was quite straight forward and showed me the issues, it seems to have a nice service record aswell, So if everything checks out and Graham finds it any good, I might take it for the right price. Curerntly she lowered the price to 5.5. but even 4.5K would be a bit too much for it. Ah.. Its almost 9. Sucks. thanks for helping me out Graham, I appreciate it. another day maybe

You sure its Woodstock and not the cheap potato beer you guys make at home up south with fancy lables? You know back in my day I would drink only fancy wines from Italy. But I have been sober for many years now, half a decade. Dont drink the grape juice, fanta and what have you either. Just a ice cold glass of water will do. I dont know man, I am still relying on the "sport wagon". options on the e36 328i that I wanted dont look too bright. They all seem to be in the same/similar condtion with the only variable factor being the price and choice of colours. So if I pick one it will be the one with least issues, and best service record. Seems the red one fits that. I AM also looking at a few 540i's but as you know I wanted a 3 series coupe. I will just wait it out for now and see what comes up. WE? Whos We? Speak for yourself..you are living a lie... you are living a lieeee... Lay off the booz, would ya?

Very true, on that point, I want to know more about the e34 5 series. How fast are they really? Getting mixed numbers. Some are saying thy are as fast as 6.5 to 0 -60 on an auto, some say they can hold their own infront of an e36 m3. If I got one would I have to spend thousands to redo the whole suspension back to stock/factory standards if I was to occationally track one? Also hows the fuel economy on them compared to a 328i?? Have you been hitting the cheap bottle with black african immigrants again?? Or is it the Shex? my house is full of fruit fliys
-
No. I said for what it is, Its a fun little car, I appreciate it for what it is. I'm just saying I dont need the newest or fastest bmw to be happy. Yes! I get my stuff from mr. j. key. the cops sell it here too. hell yes
-
if you care about driving exprience then the e30 & e36 318is can be fun cars with the sports package. better then most newer cars in its level/price point. not everybody cares about a fast car that can do amazing 0-60 times. theres always a faster car out there. in real life on the motorway, how far are you going to go in a car that can do 0 -60 in 5 seconds, opposed to one that can do it in 8? a few car ahead? You dont need the fastest car and biggest house to be happy, as per the capitalist mentality
-
Get the car, sell the kit, go back stock? thats what I'd do.
-
Why are you selling it? Anything wrong with it? Have you done any work apart from the regular upkeep? Show me some pictures, after the e36 and e30, e24. the e34 is my favorite car. I have never driven one though.
-
I know what you guys are trying to do, they are a lot more car for the money, I have nothing against the cars. Its just that I dont want anymore 4 doors. I wanted a coupe with some grunt, doesn't have to be the fastest car out there. Something nice and fun to drive and track thats all. I want a more driver oriented car, not one that makes me look too old and boring. Fine I will look at some e39's too on tardme. happy?but it cant have those gay lowring springs and rims that make it look ricey/ghetto/gay.

I thought thats what blue said he had? 1995 BMW 540i 0-60 mph 6.1 Quarter mile 14.6 1998 BMW 540i Sport 0-60 mph 5.4 Quarter mile 14.0 ^ e39 wins. But I still dont think I want one, yet. Just a personal preference I dont think I like the shape that much. If we are going the speed route, probably faster cars too.
-
Lol..We are 1996 BMW 328i 0-60 6.3. 1/4 mile 14.8 1993 BMW 540i 0-60 6.8 1/4 mile 15.1 Okay Both 328i and 540i autos are going to be about the same in a straight line, Race will be driver and cars condtion dependent. But you gotta keep the weight as a factor too, specially on a track where weight, menuvurablity, breaks and stuff matter, the 328i would win. i would say high ends are where we would see the sweet spot of the 540i V8 Power. I am not stroking it, I am just giving an example. the M50/M52 engines have some potential to make some extra grunt even with minor modifications. I wanna spend more, I Can Strech it to 7- 8K if I have to. But regardless what I spend, more or less, I am getting the same deal give or take. The e36 is an old car, most have over 150K on the odo, have this and that falling apart, interior will need work on almost all of them, from the looks of it all will need the cooling system overhauled aswell. So I am looking for something with a good maintenence history and better condtion, and if that can be had for a wee bit less then I dont mind. To be honest I would say the 540i would be the better deal due to better interior, more room, more features, better engine torque/ power. Not essientially that its faster then a 328i or the otherway around, its just that I dont think a 4 door luxury sedan is what I am looking for. But it wont hurt to keep as an option if all else fails I will jump the 540i bandwagon. It all went south...... getting back on topic....
-
I would. m3 cams, m50 manifold, shark injectors, a tune (+ some optional 3.5" 540i maf, headers, a ca) will get the m52 around 210 - 220whp. Close to the us spec m3 s52 motors power curve minus the 200cc. Or invest in a m54b30 to m52b28 stroker kit to make it a 3.0L. and the weight diffrence should also be considered so I would think a 328i wouldn't have any problem keeping up with a 528i and wouldn't be that FAR behind a 540i. but then almost any car can be made faster if you are willing to throw enough money at it. remember the E30 M3's produced about the same power as the e36 328i's. So at the end of the day it comes down to personal preference, I dont think I need an M5 or a M3 or the fastest car out there to be happy and content. ahh shaddap.. Dont be so senile, Blue. We are comparing a boat with a fat coupe. They are both slow cars, Both (likely) automatics that can do 0 -60 in mid- high 6 seconds. On highway the poor mans m5(540i) will probably be neck to neck with an e36 M3. 328i is no fast car with around 192hp. but they aren't snails to be underestimated either. Driving is not just about going in a straight line or around a circle all the time(ouch), Take it to the track and the luxury sedan (boat) will get out run by the 328i, thats the drivers car. I like both and wouldn't mind keeping the 5 series as a option, but I just like the E36, E30 2 doors better, as well as e34's but. I cant get myself to like a sedan specially the E38 or E39 enough, over a coupe. Just like I prefer the shape of an e36 over an e46. but if the price is close enough I might just pick a e46. Thats not what I am trying to do but does it hurt to have it as an option? If you wanted fast straight line car I am sure you could get a 300zx tt or a wrx that would keep up with the M3. But I appreciate the 328i / e36 BMWs for what they are.

buy my crap. please guys in trademe are eating my ears off with small parts. special deal of the weekend. $600 for the engine and gear box. tempt me more with a couple hundread bucks and the diff is yours too.
-
I think I am gonna run for it,.
-
I thought of making him a 8K offer but then the guy with the 330CI said he wanted around 9K. Between this 328i (e36) and 330ci(e46) if both could be had for around the same price give or take, which would you pick personally and why? I know the 330ci has some 30 more hp over the 328i but its also more heavy, and doesn't look as good as a e36(to me). Is the accelaration, drive expected to be better then the e36(I doubt it)
-
Damn it Blue. NO!! No M3's. Full stop. Just a Car under 7K. Preferably a 328i. If its got problems that needs looking after then fine, be it, I can put a little work on it but the price has got to come down. Why Spend 15K, just to say I have a M3. I am sure a 328i motorsports would make a very good car and handel just fine as the M3. PS: If you are serious then there is a black e36 euro M3 on trademe for 15K., a friend was supposed to go look at it this month. Another yellow m3 is going or around 20K. Like it or not we are driving 15 - 20 year old cars now and I am sure both guys would take down the price if you are serious. But For 12K I bet the interior would be pretty hard. But I would think a M3 is good condtion can be had for 15K ~ 16K if you look hard enough.

"The sheer number of @$$holes in BMWs is astounding"

I know if coming from a big city like Auckland or Christchurch you would think that, but to be honest theres nothing where I live really, I think there might be a few working in the city but I never used their service. Just a personal principle, never paid for shex and never will. I think its got something to do with my ego, I just cant justify paying for it. Like I cant justify spending too much on another car. But I realized that some time ago, a few chicks actually started to ask me to lend them money! LOL! Now I dont usually buy them anything, I just play along and run my game untill they do something for me and untill I am done with them. Its funny where a little cash can get you in such matters when you adapt the mentality of "spend no money unless absolutely needed". PS: Wana know my secret? its Brylcreem! a little dab'll do ya, Use more, only if you dare, But watch out, The gals will all pursue ya -
this..... really worth 12K Offered 7K. but he wont budge http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/used-cars/bmw/328i/auction-669318011.htm says 12K or nothing. but for 15k I can get an m3. reason why I want to stick to my budget.

look at the ones in australia. 20" Chrome rims, Fart can, Lots of stickers, Lambo doors, m3 badge. ricers are moving into out cars. I have seen some in auckland too, they exist but hard to come across. reason why I wanted to move to benz. the author of the article is an @sshole too. he buys an 5 series and all of a sudden expects the who world to be his friends. Some stupid little kid makes fun of him so he gets so affected he writes an article about bmw drivers are bad, most bmw drivers are very good, maintain their cars, drive cautiously and wouldn't ever risk doing stupid menuvers on open public roads. They'll just go tracks or rural in the middle of noware like I do problem is these cars have become so cheap that most yanks and poms can get the m3's for less then 5K. so the ricer honda hollywood f&f guys are moving in. for me. bmw is the ultimate drivers machine. it also stands for brings me women -
haha man, you played right into it, who ever thought someone named Mr2low would say a car is actually too low. na, to be honest I hate how low that car is and the rims and everything make it look like something some stupid 16 year old kid would drive. Screems out ghetto wannabe higher class. Now the car you got on that picture, there is a classic I wouldn't mind to be seen driving. thats your one isn't it? that looks fantastic!
