replacing the radiator is easy, you need to know why it explode in the first place. if you didnt drive it much after then the motors is probably okay. otherwise you are looking at a new head gasket as well. I think your thermostat went popo causing the engine to overheat and the radiator poped. New radiator(or second hand) new thermostat, new waterpump, metal/alu housing hoses and a complete drain and flush with new fluid (50 50 mix will do) and maybe a new headgasket (just in case) but if its good you could do without. PS: get a 80/88C radiator temp switch and a new bmw engine fan clutch (while you are at it) Go to paul @ milland. love that tan interior, I wonder if I should grab that, but then again the neighborhood cats and dogs might make the ragtop full of holes. but its also no msports and got like 230K's (I know its not high for these motors but still) could probably be had for like 5K. Red car has some problems in the cooling system, the viscus clutch fan will need replacement, aux fan doesn't come on with the heater(temp sensor, ac leak or low ac gas). and god knows hows the coolant inside if it wasn't replaced recently. there goes another $500 + diy time. "its a e36 thing" - yea blue you got that right. but see we guys would know whats wrong to begin with and have it done. we maintain better man, when we dont park in a ditch. the chick is nice and was straight forward. i'm back on the fence. what do you guys think? should I make her an offer or keep looking?

But seems the b28 has more potential as a faster/drivers car then the b30 on the e46 that weighs like 200 KG more. fine, fine, but as long as I dont have to offer my sexual services to the guy and his queer party friends for its v8 glory, I am down with it anything. on a real note, the 540 sounds tempting. since you own both, how does the 5 series handle? they are slower then a regular 328i in a straight line and around corners aren't they? Kinda gives me the old guy look and feel. I might take something like that too, sad when 5 series and 7 series cars are going for less then 3 series. PS: i fixed it, but read the first 2 paragraphs, you mean your 99 540i? I dont know. are there any big difrence between the e34 and e39 variations of the 5 series?? the e39 looks close to the e36. FIXD EDIT: I wrote to her and got some more information. what do you guys make of it? Looks like the car has been used as a second car in the last 3 years so not used much. but always garaged well. car jam showd no wof records since 2010 but she said it has wof so thats okay. It has some pealing on the quarter panne window triml(usual) . so the coolant is probably gone bad, thermostat and water pump waan't changed since she had it, AC is also not working properly(meaning nor is the AUX fan). (bummer) I dont think I can offer her too much. it will probably run me $500 - $1000 to bring it back to shape, cooling system, radiator flush, ac regas(if the compressor still works), repaint the quarter pannels window trim or replace them(anyone know if the dealer still sells them?)

Check. Yea, Thats what i wanted to hear. If you come down far north, its a bit toned down from the south but more or less the same here. Just stay outta big cities like hamilton, wellington, auckland and you'll be right at home. But I am still curious, if you were in my shoes why wouldnt you get the red car? yea I figured, dont know was looking at the neighbors benz and found myself on the fence, thought maybe I should ask what others though before I gave it any more thought. a friend was going to buy his wifes red GT wagon or whatever you call it that hes got on trademe, but hes looking at the black m3 now. the m3 evo is worth it but I cant justify spending more then 10K on a 10 - 20 year old used car. so just thinking to get a regular mspec car which would have some grunt and nice handling. I cant stand most newer bmws past the e36 and maybe the e38 and e39. Personally kinda hate wagons. I have one and hardly ever drive it unless hauling a months stock of food from town. Should have gotten a ute or truck instead, all my neighbours have them.

I think its a Indian telecommunications company, its when they cold call you, say they are calling from vindows service center, wellington and say they have information that want to remove saddam wmds and a virus from your computer, and when you refuse they say they are going to hack you into pieces, and then keep calling you giving death threats for not letting them con you out of a few hundred dollars. yep, thats telecon, I had to change my number to get them to stop calling me.

its okay blue. f it, sh*t happens. they gave me like 150gb with my home phone plan. I dont use more then 10gb a month. but who cares. some times I do download old movies so just incase. nothing much. why dont you just upgrade. i realized the telecom modem was crap so i bought another modem, some brand named TP link. pretty good so far. did i mention I once threw out a computer off 2 floors? just ripped it off and threw it out. went back down the next day threw it around a few times pos. then back again the next day after it sat in the rain I brought it in, and copied everything inside the HDD just consider everything is sh*t, everything sucks. and you gotta spend more money but it will still probably suck. just drive your bmw. forget it for now.

Yea probably, but the cop was still there when I left. I waited an hour for them and the tow to show up so I could leave. have some damage to my rear quarter too. I go down that way at latest once or twice a week. sometimes just for a drive up mt. tiger. All the bends and twists are nice with just me and no one else around. you really feel the car up that road. My car felt like on rails all the time I have been up there. So I drove as usual with rain as the contributing factor + my stupid radio with iggy pop. counter steering didnt help other then make the car go do a 180. Maybe I should have applied more throttle but I just felt since it was kinda down hill, so once it hydro planed and started to skid all bets were off and i decided to just give up and let it do its thing, dont worry, I will be back soon up your way in another bmw, any other car just wont cut it that way.
