You're right! Pleasantly surprised. Lot's of good people around here. Thanks mate, a kind offer. I'm in no great rush, but I'll certainly bare it in mind. Cheers guys. I expected the two to be quite comparable. But looking ahead - the only way I can see to replace an M3, is with an M3 - indoctrination I say. Although an S50 in an E30 would be bloody awesome. It would be a tricky pick... Overall appearance: E46 Ease of maintenance: E36 Performance: E46 Cost value factor: E36 Fun factor: E46 = E36?

Absolutely. I own an E36 M3 and was interested to compare the two.

Ohhh don't say that! It was released only yesterday, right? Timeless, but yes getting old. Cheers guys, I'll go harass some car yards...

Hi guys, Does anybody know of an E46 M3 available for hire in the Wellington area? Devine rentals have one, but it is located in Auckland.
-
Awesome car. Look forward to more.

Nice easy one I hope. My OCD has kicked in after a mate noticed the Japanese and Euro versions have slightly different lenses and tints. Does anyone have one in good nick lying around? Part number 63128363083. Cheers

Hadn't checked BNT yet due Christmas hours. Cheers

I was having a hard time coming across them, and I have heard the stealership charges a fair old dime! Maybe I'm not looking in the right place?

Does anyone with an S50B30 run a healthy alternative to the OEM Bosch Y5DDC?

Good luck with the sale mate, it's looking good

Either way, good luck with the sale mate.

This looks fantastic.

Hi guys, I've been lurking around the forums for a wee while now. A little over 6 months ago I bought this E36 M3... A 1995 built 3.0 in 'Daytona Violett' with 130k on the clock, it drives tight and sound. Maintenance records show why. It's condition is really a testament to the previous owner - an avid M fan himself - who took excellent care and kept it almost pristine. It's great to see so much passion and experience for BMW's in one place, and look forward to the possibility of meeting other enthusiasts in the future - I don't think there is any thing I couldn't find support for here. Cheers, Liam.

I think the fact I'm trying to use a W7 64bit doesn't help, might be time for an old machine running XP. In fact that would be awesome, thanks. Only if it doesn't put you out of your way. Can I send you a flash drive or something?

There is so much disinformation about this stuff on the internet it simply isn't fun anymore. I'll work through it eventually, I will definitely try running it on a laptop with a real serial port. Good to hear someone had SOME success, cheers for the links - I'll have a good look

Excellent work with the resto. Looking good. I noticed you had DIS running on an old laptop back there? I was wondering if you'd part with your secret recipe? I've been trying for months now to get INPA or DIS working with my 95 M3, using both a tinyADS and a BMcables interface/cable - to no avail. I've been trying to use the dock serial port on my laptop as it doesn't have a true serial itself - I'm thinking this could be a problem. The most I've got out of the USB interface is to get the windows to go up and down! I imagine there is a reason why you used an old laptop with a dedicated port? Which cable have you used? Any form of answer would provide more ground than I can gain at this stage Cheers

Agreed. Lovely looking car, and sounds like you've cared for it very well. All the best with the sale.

Jeez, that's stunning!

Hey guys, Does anybody have available some 'bump-strip' side-trim for an 1995 M3 Coupe? Ideally excellent condition I'm after the central piece from the left door, the right door, and/or the small piece with the M3 badge on it from the right fender. Cheers.

Mine hesitates at about 2k also... Usually just below, ~1700. I always thought it was a VANOS issue as mine is getting a little bit noisy, but I'm sure I read that yours has had its VANOS replaced? Speaking of which, you've done wonderful things with love and polish - That colour really has come up a treat.

I was going to say. I once had a problem like this with my old car - thought it could be clutch alignment or something similar for a long time. In the end I discovered the rear oil seal had essentially fallen out after we rebuilt the motor... Not a huge amount of oil escaped in to the bell housing, but obviously enough to coat the clutch. Used to shudder like mad. There was a sweet spot higher in the revs where you could get it to bind smoothly, and would be worse when I just started driving after a period of parking up (as I probably hadn't burnt the oil off yet).
