I got my old e46 fitted with sub and amp in the boot and Alpine system in the cabin. Had BT and all connections, sounded great. Not having the steering wheel buttons was fine considering getting that to work was going to be very expensive.

Thanks for your reply mate. I only got the car 2 weeks ago and it's been doing since pick-up. If the sound doesn't improve in a month or so I guess I'll take it into get checked?

On my e87 the rear passenger side brake has a horrid squeal whenever I slowly brake (like in traffic or at lights), the worst in the mornings. Does this noise usually go away over time or do the brakes usually need attention to resolve this? i.e. new pads etc.

It's misunderstood because many outside of the BMW fan-base believe it to be a "performance car" that didn't achieve great notoriety or success in the market.

I ran an ecommerce business here and agree with introducing GST to online purchases. I had to pay GST on everything I sold and was competing against people who were only getting it cheaper because they didn't have to pay the 15%. If I hadn't run an online business I guess I would feel like most other people do, they're losing another access to cheaper goods.

Agree. My mate has a 320i SW and I can already smell the oil leaks (I know from 318CIs), rough idle and electric problems...

Interesting. I think it will come down to a mix of driving style, traffic and fuel type. Going to be interesting to see how it goes this weekend on a drive to Welly.

98, but some of the fuel from the dealer was probably 91. Let's see how it goes on the next fill.

325 is pretty quick and the fuel economy around town is well balanced. The 330s are still a bit higher in cost on TradeMe when I was looking recently, they've held their value.

Welcome mate, (I am new too!). My first BMW was an e39 528i. Pretty epic, cushy cruiser. Most of the ones out there are still in good nick and the engines are reliable - electronics, cooling were my only areas of grief. Recently I had been looking at getting another one, ended up test driving a motorsport 530i that was $8k. Great to drive, lowish kms. Non-motorsport e39s IMO aren't looking quite as "cool" anymore, and the cost of motorsport ones vs. non demonstrates this. I'd suggest looking at getting an e46, you should be able to find some under $10k these days. They're great looking, amazing to drive, more modern looking - I've had two of them (318ci and 325ci) and found them pretty reliable.

Managed to drive like a nana on the way home (Greenlane to Takapuna) and got 7.7 l/100. Pretty happy with that. I pushed it into 6th gear on the motorway earlier than it wanted so that seems to help a bit too. Overall the fuel economy is around 10-12 with a bit of quick driving and traffic, it just seems to be going down faster than I thought, but it's only a small tank anyway. Hey all, does anyone on here own a 130i? I've been driving mine for a few days now and I am just wondering what others might be getting around town for fuel economy? I read online that the urban stats are around 13.7 l/100km which is pretty horrendous meaning I'm probably only going to get 400kms before filling up. Also, if you don't get the radio changed (just use aux), nav doesn't work, does everyone keep iDrive screen closed? It's pretty useless otherwise!
