After the car was up on the hoist we noticed 3-4 nuts missing from the exhaust manifold ( I think its called that ), looks like a bitch to reach but Im pretty sure its whats causing that horrid sound from the engine. Anyone got some =)

Rained in =( Can't do crap in my cramped garage =( so instead I did this =) Little bit of motivation etc Few questions, Everyone elses E30 Projects I've seen has had them at some stage rip out all the suspension etc and pretty much make it look shiny. Just one question about this. How do I do this and what do I need for it. I know I need bushes but I don't really want to buy a lot of them as I have f all money but is this hard and anyone wanna help =) Just an example of what im talking about here with Ashkans photos from his thread.

X5 4.6is 2002 171,xxx km's Sadly, Dad is putting this up for sale as, his prioties are changing and he no longer needs a performance SUV but his loss is your gain. This is a epic car, that contains BMW"s 2nd most powerful engine from its time, 2nd to the E39 M5. NZ New so all the TV, etc works. Full service history from new. Previously owned by Gerry Hodges ( BMW car club president ), all the km's are motorway K's of commuting. H&R Air Suspension sports pack ( which makes the handling even better than it was before ). Interior is in excellent condition, has been very very looked after, we have even had the silver interior door handles repainted, leather reconditioned professionally by Retro Leathers, wheels have no curbs what so ever, Gavin Bellars has adjusted the timing to get it down to a proven 5.9sec from 0-100, which is awesome from a car this practical. If you don't believe us, I am more than happy to pick you up and prove it. Also has new radiator, thermostat, alternator, coolant hoses and painted brake calipers. Those are the components that usually go first on these cars excluding the calipers =). The 4.6is features lots of components featured on the E39 M5 including the steering, instrument cluster, brakes, and throttle body I think however im not sure on that last one. I've been told by many people that this X5 ( 4.6is ) looks so much better than any other X5 with its rear aero pack and 315 wide rear wheels ( 4 month old tyres with plenty of treed on all wheels =) ), an awesome exhuast note and best of all comfortable ride. This car points and handles like nothing else, its size except maybe the ML63, or the SRT8 Jeep oh and maybe Turbo S Cayenne. Whats best is when your in a rush and you want to blat it, the V8 sounds "like a bear gaggling nails" ( quote from Matt45 ) =D but on the motorway or on the way home and your just cruising its so quiet. A X5 4.6is with 80,000ks is on Trade me for around $55,000 so we are looking for around $32,000 ONO concidering the work that has gone into this car and its condition. If you wish to come view the car or come for a run in it or drive it yourself please flick me a buzz on 021 997 661 or PM me. You are also most welcome to call Gavin Bellars @ Hi Velocity or Ross Lamb @ BM Workshop Botany if you want their view on the car and how good it really is =) Selling on Dads behalf here =) not actually my car! EDIT: It'll also be at the 2nd of Jan Track day at Hampton and the Xmas Cruise this Saturday for test drives, views etc

No no. The ones, that someone is organizing for me are slotted and vented but for 130 for a front set. So Im happy with that. They are mechanics who say it works so Im keen to try it since its that cheap.
-
are they 15x7 =)
-
You can trust me with them nathan don't worry =D

WOF guy said that just removing the belt is not WOFable... Because if you had a crash or something and they discovered your power steering was disconnected then they go after the WOF guy for giving a WOF to a power steering car when it didn't work. Not sure if i said that right but im sure glenn will elaborate that. Im thinking just put the power steering back on for everyday stuff and disconnect for racing? Ash - how much =) Andy - Yea, what im doing is Im buying stock rotors for $99 then I have someone is going to help me machine vents into them. Hes running them on his E30 series car with 320i calipers that he's kitted out or something. It'll cost a packa but its cheaper than paying 290 or something for slotted ones. While I know Im not going to up with the good guys for the first maybe 2 seasons but Im almost sure that most of the passing is done under braking so Ive decided I want to put heaps into my brakes in the long run. Lots of good reports of Bendix pads, very expensive but very good.. do you agree?

haha. Come on Nathan, every man has a price =) $400? =)

So, had it up on a hoist today. =( Wasn't too good, lots of small things to get done. Heres the list. Under Car: Front Rubber Drive Couplings Manual Steering Rack 20mil Front Sway Bar Rust Repair ( I have no clue how the hell to do this although he told me the base instructions ) Left hand Inner Sill Prep all cage Rust under floor ( the guy who did the cage, hasn't preped the under side of the car where he welding the cage in and its starting to rust ) No nuts in the exhuast manifold 3-4 nuts missing and has possibly F**ked the gasket Under Boot Clean spot welds Under Bonnet Rust Repair/ Under battery. New Vaccum hose Also need bushes. Heard they're round 200 for the lot. Replaced a fuse and tacho now WORKS!!!!!! =) Was fun driving it over to east tamaki with no indicators and drivers window. The exhuast gasket sounds so sh*t and makes the being in the car a shitty experience haha. Didn't manage to get any pics though, when it was on the hoist =(
