Forgot this beauty taken in the Lindis Pass. We could not stop for any photos yesterday sadly. Going to try and get creative in Welly today.

The roads are in excellent nic. From Auckland to Wellington was a breeze and rather unremarkable. Picton to Nelson...yoh...we took the mountain road. Man those turns. My sister in law was in the tiguan and they had to pull over because she was getting car sick. My other sister in law and I were in the 6-er and we were a-ok. Nelson to Franz Josef was picturesque and also uneventful. The thing with the 6-er is that she is a typical grand tourer. Everything about the driving is effortless. Smooth, linear acceleration accompanied by nible steering and a very firm but comfortable ride. Franz Josef to Wanaka was beautiful if a bit wet. Again, the windy roads through the Cardrona Valley were a treat in the 6. Wanaka to Christchurch was boring as. Flat country most the way and rather uneventful. Christchurch to Picton today was a challenge. Lost of roadworks on the coastal highway and at one point I was worried that we were going to be late to the ferry. But, it all worked out in the end.

Stunning drive from Queenstown to Christchurch today with a stop over at Lake Pukaki

Visiting Queenstown and Cardrona today. I think she deserves a valet when we get back to Auckland.

Having a blast down south. I did het something that took a wee bit of paint off the lower bumper around the air intake, and picked up a bit of curb rash on the one rim...will just do one big claim and recon when we get back to Auckland. We have both the 6-er and the Tiguan on the road trip, and the 6-er is by far the more comfortable of the two ? Fuel economy aint too bad either at 10l/100km.

Welcome! I can help out with the coding ? Away on a roadtrip for two weeks but happy to have a look when I'm back in Auckland.

Hi folks. I'll post some pics of my epic road trip in this thread. Haven't had much time to stop for photos, but here's one to get started ? Taken last night at Cullen Point.

Yup, that same one. 868mhz is the correct frequency. On f-series remotes the frequency is printed under the blade key.
-
Yep, if you were doing this yourself then it would be the case however this one is sold as already modified so you just program it to your car and you're done...

So I hate having cables everywhere and i equally hate a messy centre console storage bin. Having successfully code Apps 6NR and purchased an iPod touch to drive it all my next mession was to find a way to clean up the console. I made some slight modifications to the snap-in adaptor base plate with my dremel, mounted the iPod cable, routed it along all the existing wiring abd out ubder the piece of plastic that houses the snap-in. The result is a much cleaner, less cluttered centre console bin.

I've ordered one and will report back once I receive the key. Pretty awesome. I've been following a thread on another forum about this swap but it involves desoldering chips etc which I know nothing about. Clearly this guy saw a gap and took it and if it works its a pretty cheap way to get a spare key too! https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=...2508091127

I don't actually know... Haven't noticed anything

It's possible with coding. One of the things I've done. I also have 6NR apps working after patching the headunit and creating all my own FSC codes (voice, navi, apps, etc).
-
This morning I coded BMW Connected Drive with Apps to my car. Virginized the head-unit and custom signed FSC codes, saving me $499 for the code + 1.5hr of coding at BMW.

Couldn't make the meet today due to last minute commitments. I did manage to code my car this evening: Media, phone and turn signals in HUD Lower screen in the cluster now has a grey theme Backlight on cluster now always white Voice language changed from UK to US Acoustic lock/unlock Folding mirrors with lock/unlock Still a couple of things I want to try out. On my E64 I coded the roof to open and close with key fob...hopefully I can get the done on my F12 too ?

Drove with the top down to work this morning which was fun. Wasn't planning on going in but hey... Also finally got eSys, Ista-D and Ista-P to connect with my car (Macbook Pro, VMware and USB-C to everything dongles are no fun. Total PITA to set up and ISTA is hugo). Hope to get some coding done this weekend. Also found an F12 640i at a salvage yard online which I am going to check out for some bits (kafas camera retrofit planned).

You would have to get an idrive version. Check out AvinUSA. Their android units are pretty sweet looking. https://avinusa.com/8-8-bmw-3-series-e90-e91-e92-e93-android-multimedia-navigation-system.html They unit is basically a screen replacement but allows you to switch between the android based guy which looks like ID5/6 and your original idrive gui. I am considering one of these for my 6-er too since it's considerably cheaper and less involved than an NBT EVO retrofit.

That's a fine kooking 5-er! Welcome. I have always maintained that the E39 is one of BMW's most iconic designs. Compared to MB and Audi models of the same generation the E39 has aged so beautifully.

Current 6-er asside i would say the 645ci followed by the Jeep. The 645ci because it tugged at my boy racer heartstrings and the Jeep because it was a low maintenance, capable car ?

My 5c worth... The 212 Merc E is boring as...if considering at least get a facelift model Maserati Quattroporte is typically Italian...goregous to look at but functionally flawed F10 BMW...solid choice with loads of potential for customisation Why not look at a Merc CLS or BMW 6 Gran Coupe? There's always a late model F01 7er to consider too ;-)

Hey mate. I had a similar problem on my 654ci a couple of years back. Fairly common problem in my case. A rubber boot on the hydraulic actuator in the front sway bar would leak, casing the error (and wasting expensive fluid). I found a diy online that calls for the boot to removed, cleaned, reaffixed with gasket sealer and secured with a plumbing clamp. Was a 30 minute job on my 6-er and the problem went away. BWM would want to replace the entire sway bar $$$ ultimately the error codes would be helpful too. Here's a link to the fix...I did mine without remkving the unit tough: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1432870

I found the touchscreen response to be improved if the menu animations are turned off. Hope to see you at the next Auckland meet.

Very nice indeed, congratz! When I was shopping around I was torn between getting either a BMW F12 6-er, Jag X315 XJ or Mercedes-Benz C216 Cl550. I couldn't find a decent non-Japanese version of the Merc so scrapped that idea. Spent a morning with both the Jag and 6-er, and ultimately the 6-er won because I know BMW so well, and I love to tinker so any mods on the XJ would have been challenging and parking in town would likely prove a challenge too. Your's looks like a fine example, and bonus that it has active cruise control. The big cats have aged so well, and the interiors are still a wonderful place to be in...slow touch screen and low-quality steering wheel controls aside ?
