hey thanks for the PM topless, but i think its a bit beyond me. i've taken it to 3 mechanics today and they couldnt do anything, so i've conformed at taken it to Team Mc Millan, and they gna fix it on tuesday...which is gonna cost me an arm/leg and possibly my nose !!! .... their labour rate is 120 an hour...holy f**k hahaha. thanks for everything guys. anyone else wanna put any input into my problem?

my 318 took exactly 4L (and its just a tad above the dipstick) which is alright. those prices seem pretty fair...my oil filter alone was like 30 bux from parts master...owned haha. and yeah i used castrol 15w40, thats what they had at my workshop!

well i asked our family friend who is an ex bmw technican and he told me that the dead lock has been out of sync, hence why it is popping back...he told me just to lock it fully to the left and hold down the drivers lock at the same time (while the window is down, and door is closed) ... eventually ull get all the locks, locking in sync and it will work for a while, and then play up...so u'll just haf to have another play with it. it does it because when, say ur car battery dies, and when u unlock your car only ur drivers door is unlocking, causing the pattern to get out of synch.

arghhh.... today i went to resit my wof after getting everything fixed for it. and as soon as i arrived at the garage and tried popping my bonnet, nothing happened... its f**ked, it will not pop !!!!.... i took off the covering bit to haf a play with, and it seems like the wire is okay, apparntly its one of the latches on the left hand side that is siezed (if u were looking from inside the car) im going 2 take it to a family friend and he is an ex bmw/merc technician but even he didnt sound to confident about it over the phone. ....so please ANY help will be appreciated! what turned out to be just a wof, has costed me a f**k load of money arghhhh haha...thanks in advance 1991. e36 318 four door.
-
sorry to hijack, but does anyone know the reasoning when it happens to an e36?. when i lock it, the locks come flying back up, but sometimes it works and closes properly when i lock the car from the boot...i will be getting an alarm soon but id just like an explanation, and possibly a quick fix/or where the CLCU is located in an e36. thanks

hey bro, any chance you could replace my muffler now with a standard one (i hate the droning sound) - but i have a a/m tip that i would like to keep, to be welded back on or something. i know thats not exactly "exhaust" but its part of the exhaust "system" and yeah. cheers 4 any info.
-
haha cheers 4 the replys. i can take the back seats off ...but i wuldnt have a clue how to remove the tray... as from inside the boots all you can see is the metal supports and when the back seats are removed all i see is metal lol. sorry im a bit of a n00b when it comes with bmws and everything regarding them.

im a little confused...the cat has already been replaced with a resonator. and the cat check light only came off after the sensor had been ripped apart from the wire. and i got rid of the light on the dash already by grounding that wire back to the chassis of the car.
-
yeah 1.8cc engine, 91. strait through exhaust, no cat...replaced with a resonator i think. yeah so new muffler?...any chance i culd just put a standard one on, im more after no sound...dont kare about any performance etc (i mean its a 318...performance is the last thing it can do) and how much am i looking at cheers guys

you must be sick of me now haha. okay so the previous owner installed a big bore exhaust (cardinal sin) and it sounds like sh*t, low revs, but sounds reallllly nice hi revs but the car is still slow, just makes noise. so i was wondering on recomendations on what i can do, i love the tip thats there, its subtle and compliments the car nicely so i want to keep that but get rid of the droney noise. apparntly my muffler has been opened up for the noise. so could i get a (cheap replacement) muffler, weld up the muffler that is there now or what? thanks 91 e36 318i
-
cheers for that. yeah i just grounded the remaining wire to get rid of the light. anyone have ideas on my fuel consumption seems a bit hefty for a 1.8L
-
hey. i have an e36 318i 1991 and on the first day i got it, i went over a speed bump and ripped off a sensor now ive shown differnt people in the know and i have come down to 2 differnt possible things it could be. description: came from the middle of the car, (possibly from where the cat should be/is...i believe my cat has been removed) has a braided silver line, and has a very large point at the end. after it came off the "overheat/cat" dash light has come on. now i thought it defiently was a cat sensor, but after reading on the net the o2 sensor can be found by the cat in BMW's as apposed to on the exhaust manifold like most jappas. so what is it guys? haha and yeah i heard o2 sensors has holes at the tip of it so yeah. cheers. and what is avg fuel consumption you'd expect from a car like mine, i seem to only get 30-50kms out of 10 bucks which is about 6.8L works out to nearly as low as 5km per litre

hey guys, ive got a e36 318. i have 12inch sub, l/b amp, and shitty sony 6x9s (i know 6x9s are poo) but it came with car. any hows, as you can tell by the title, im having cronik rattling...and ive heard drilling into the tray and cable tieing it against the supports in the boot, but i might not be compatent to do a good job of that anyone have any ideas? you can see the whole parcel tray vibrate its quite depressing
-
hey guys im just wondering if you, or anyone/place you know that has the following for an e36 318 - dont really want to play full wrecker prices etc. rear back seats - mine are compeltly gone haha. front/rear right door handle surround. front drivers door trim with clips thanks for your time. and does anyone know how to fix a sagging glove box, ive heard screwing 2 screws on the edge of the box to hold the lid up but...dont really want to do that.
