Not in Welly but if you run out of options (or have none), happy to ship mine for the cost of return shipping.

Edit: I didn't suggest this initially because it's just a target for criticism here on BS but you don't need a torque wrench for this, 30nm is "pretty tight", not loose and not RFT, just "pretty tight".

Thanks for the offer. Much appreciated!

Also, I didn't realise 30nm wasnt RFT so I'll just crack on with the tools I have. Cheers for the input too @NZ_InFerno

@KwSI'll have to go check the washers 👍

  2. What tyre setups have you guys tried on the 130i?

My 130i is in need of a set of rears and i know pretty much nothing about tyres!

Current setup is Potenza RE003s all round. 215/45R18 on the front & 225/40R18 at the rear. Fronts seem to have loads of life so I'm currently looking at just replacing the rears.

My assumption is that I should stick with the RE003s to match the fronts. Is this correct?

Throttle controller fitted to that one too, wonder how much of a difference that makes? Im guessing a reasonable amount if the throttle, like other BMWs of the time, isnt linear.

I'd be keen to hear someone's experience with one of these too. I'd never heard of a throttle controller until reading your comment!

  4. They're in!

    Cheers for your help @M3AN

The look is so much nicer than standard. I think that's enough to justify the change. I'll also be more inclined to actually use these over the weird original setup.

I definitely took more than the suggested '30-45min'. Part of that was a trip to bunnings to get smaller pliers 🙄. The rest of the time was me figuring things out and watching YouTube videos

  5. @M3AN

    Or anyone else!

I'm just getting into it with my new paddles from Nelson Racing Wheel. I've hit a wall with the 'optional' re-wiring part. I've managed to pop open the connector but can't get the cables out 😬

I've tried light to medium tugging but no luck and I'm afraid of damaging the wires. Any tips?

I've attached a screenshot from the installation instructions. I'm at the middle picture. No luck yet getting to the 3rd one!

  6. Cheers for the tips. I'll definitely get myself some of that sticky vinyl stuff.

I meant to say that I do miss the howl from the BMWP exhaust. The standard setup on this car is far more grown-up & sensible but I used to get a big kick out of flooring the throttle through tunnels!

  7. I'm a 130i owner again!

I sold my manual 130i last year to scratch a 4x4 itch. I regret nothing but I'm so happy to be back in a sports car. I second guessed myself a lot about buying an auto but I couldn't stretch to the asking price of the few manuals that are around.

I picked this 104,000km auto for $7500 today. Exterior is a 9/10 (i'm not very picky so that number might be a bit high in some of your eyes 🤣). Zero kerbing on the alloys and no dents or scratches.

    Interior is a different matter....

I have no idea what happened to the sunroof cover lining. it's gross. I'm thinking about just ignoring it as when it's slid back, it's hardly noticeable.

The idrive (?) screen is borked. Again, no idea what happened to it. It looks like a protective screen has melted onto it. The previous owner admits he started scraping off the lining but got carried away and has damaged the pixels. As the screen can be hidden (can you see a theme here?) it doesn't bother me too much but I need to do some research into a new system as I'd love to have a touchscreen up there for spotify and maybe google maps. Any ideas or recommendations in this area?

Anyway. Aside from the 'blemishes' noted above, I love the car. I think the colour is beautiful and the rims/alloys really suit it. The auto box is far better than I thought it would be. Using the paddles in sports mode really wakes up the car. I was considering getting some form of golf purely for the DSG box but i'm delighted with the bmw. Having seen @M3AN's Showroom thread, i've ordered a set of the Nelson Racing paddles to replace the weird bmw setup. I chose to be ignorant of the US $ conversion rate but they came in at just under $300 NZD 😶 More than i bargained for but I can't wait for them to arrive!

Yes, and 18 months in they're still so awesome. I drove a normal auto about two months ago and kept reaching for "my" paddles, it was a terrible experience.

    Thanks!

These are definitely top of my list 😍

Which version did you go for? There seems to be V1, V2 & 'Steptronic'🤔

And they work as expected, total WIN! ??

Are these shifters something that a ham-fisted idiot could fit? I love the look of them over the original setup
