  1. Waiting for my daughter outside her primary school and an absolute idiot in his 30's on a Yamaha dirt bike, no helmet, gumboots, jeans and a hoody put it on the back wheel and nearly mowed down a bunch of kids while riding down the road, then over the grass - rinse and repeat. Then out of the blue he stopped in the middle of the road and had a long enough conversation with someone he clearly knew for me to get my phone out and capture in glorious 4k him doing the same thing back up the road. If it weren't for the fact that I have a car/plate/driver clear as day in the video and wonderful facials of this muppet coming by I wouldn't bother with trying to give this to the local cops in person. Only problem with that is that thanks to budget cuts they are closed until Monday.

The wild west is getting wilder.

  2. Waiting for some end buyer reviews, but if this is an good as the rest of the Infinity design gear then it will be something worth saving towards.

A Euroconnex product overview here - it's still very new and Infinity have never been that great at marketing so hopefully as these get into the marketplace some actual reviews come to the surface.

  3. Sitting on hold to the bank, the choice of hold music is NZ music or easy listening - where is the NO music option. Who thinks that a hugely compressed distorted rendition of some sponsored band being played out of a phone speaker is some how going to lower my blood pressure while I wait ? Banks are so out of touch with reality. I'm posting this after 10 minutes of waiting because they are "experiencing higher than normal volumes of being useless".

  4. Heart is still racing after nearly getting gently touched by some old bird in a Skyline. I was waiting outside the local supermarket and noticed a really long queue of traffic behind a old r33 four door that was limping up the road with granny peering out from behind the wheel. Next minute she aims for the park in front of me and just starts the world's slowest turn into the spot which was directly through the front quarter of the M5, while the parking sensors started to go I rapidly grabbed reverse and left some black lines to get out of her way as she continued on and mounted the kerb. FFS! Had I been a minute longer in the shop this would be a different headline about ancient hag seen flying through air into path of oncoming traffic, local man praised as hero for removing menace from the road.

  5. Agree with @gjm, I've only ever run on hub dynos and they will give different figures than a rolling road. Depends on your motivation, do you want tuning or Dyno queen numbers? You could just get the correction factor changed, SAE vs DIN also weights Dyno numbers massively. If you want it for tuning or peace of mind then that another story, shop around as you are, find one that is recommended and don't worry about the final number, worry about the afr's and driveability. Just my 2c worth. And those prices are cheap, it takes time to set up any Dyno for a run, and hub or rolling road they are very expensive to buy and run, they occupy a fair amount of dedicated space and unless booked up all the time they are loss leaders. You will almost always find something that needs work when you hit the Dyno. Good luck with your search, unfortunately I've only used Auckland based setups so can't comment on Wellington.

Was selling something that cost $50 brand new for $10 on marketplace. Got offered $5. f**k people.

I see they are using my power buying techniques book, "I like your your sh*te more than you do, so would you take $5 for it?"

  7. When you are having a sh*t few days and wonder if working crazy hours with killer deadlines is all worth it, then do the school run and see another dad stop by the M5 with his son and say "wow that's a dream car".

Then I got swamped by a hoard of primary school kids and the serenity was gone, but for a moment I felt good about the world.

  8. Really wanting to buy a re-re Hotshot or Boomerang. A friend of mine had the original Hotshot when we were kids, it was a spaceship in comparison to the overpriced underpowered toys I had. Closest I got was a mini Boomerang which I assembled and promptly raced down the driveway across the road and under the neighbours reversing Lexus. 😁

  9. Thanks @jon dee, that's the info I'm after. I've only ever seen the Tapley in a frame. I didn't go to BMW for a WOF specifically, I was after the rest of the cars service history and so it made sense to combo them together. Horrible place to be stuck for multiple hours, I had lined up a set of floating wheel centres, an "entertainment" tray for junior and some clothing - but had to pay for the investigation into my handbrake instead. Sitting in the client waiting area and listening to the service agents on the phone to customers I had to try hard not to laugh out loud, pretty sure that every second phone conversation included the phrase "yes that may be expensive, but that is standard BMW pricing". The best one was along the lines of "we have reached four thousand dollars investigating the issue and need to know if you want to go further", that's not fixing thats just working out why it's borked.

The workshop may have a "deceleration box" that they put on the floor of the car in front of the passenger seat and road test the car to check the brakes. When applied in a moving vehicle, the handbrake has to generate a certain degree of retardation to pass the test.

    Cheers...

Well after querying why my car was leaving BMW with two techs in it I was told they had to do the brake testing and one of the techs needed to hold the the Tapley meter. Which is fine except I didn't see any Tapley meter when they returned....... you can fill in the blanks. And I still fail to see why the M5 needed to go anywhere off the property for a handbrake test that they failed the car on and were trying to correct. Hence my original question. I'm not saying that anyone is being unprofessional, because you would have to think that there are far nicer cars that move through that workshop than my old wagon to go and hot lap.

  11. Having not b*tched for a while I'm having withdrawals..... MK5 Golf GTi that has appeared in our street over the past few months, popping and farting at all times of the day and night and travelling at well over the speed limit. I guess karma is coming home, given my history of excessively loud turbo fours - I was way worse than anything this kid is doing noise wise, but at least I didn't drive like a complete ass in a tiny cul de sac.

  12. My daughter came home today with a raging temperature and being a vaguely responsible human being I'm going to look after her rather than going to the rally tomorrow.

So, if some wants one adult general entry and a child entry to Jacks Ridge for tomorrow (Sunday) please message me.

These will be FREE , they are electronic tickets and as far as I can tell I can email them to the new owner who can update the contact details.

The tickets are sold out so rather than bin these I thought someone else may like to use them. FYi who ever goes you will need a 4x4 for parking as the paddocks are a tad wet.
