  1. You could take the seats out, and sill trim that retains the carpet and try lift it up bit to get some airflow under it. Chuck a dehumidifier in the car and see how it goes. Unfortunately the carpet has some pretty thick foam under neath it that holds water really well.

17kg off the top of my head. Or about a 1/4 tank of gas.

I doubt you would be finding much if a significant improvement with thatvkind of weight difference, unless you're driving my MG Midget

I dunno  i found the difference to be quite noticeable. Given all the weights in the front. Even sticking a passenger in the back seat was noticeable. This isn't just toodling around town, but on the track.

The 3.0 has a nice little harmonic issue, I would say rod/stroke ratio is a big factor in it, the 3.0 is a bit pants in that respect. Even a non tensioner 2.5 or 2.8 will do it for a long time. But not a b30

Yeah have seen a couple 3 liters sh*t the bed from it. You can kinda feel it when you rev them high it doesn't feel right, they don't like it.

Wow, loving the welding on that cage.  Is that your handiwork, @polley?

    Lachssilber FTW!

Seriously cool build man, keen to see more.

A friend and me did the cage, actually he did most the work and I assisted. He has done a few cages before, and has a lot more patience than me with such fiddly things.

  5. Plastic flares are temporary until I decide to either build or buy some m3 style flares.. Dont really like the tablet style dash anymore, so will revert back to standard E30 style, and try find some interior parts to put back in.. Kind of regret stripping it out so much and cutting it up so much.

  6. Long time, no update. A lot has changed on the car how ever. I see tinypic has conveniently disposed of most the photos.

Pulled the M50 out as it dropped compression in cyl 6, down to about 90 psi due to corrosion of the bore, must of been sitting with coolant in it after been parked up for a long time. I suspect it might of got a bit hot during a drunken hamilton style burnout then parked up and the cylinder filled up with coolant potentially, that was the last time it was driven for maybe a year so would of been sitting like that for awhile.

Replaced it with an M52B28, tidied it up with new gaskets and ARP head studs. 6 point roll cage, tig welded, and rear strut towers reinforced. Left it NA for a bit and drifted it like that...

Reinstalled the old turbo setup the from the M50 on to the M52. New intake manifold. Made a new wiring loom, quick disconnect firewall connector, DR25 etc etc. New fuel setup, removed the stock fuel tank to make room for side exit exhaust. Fuel cell and surge tank in the boot, had terrible fuel starvation problems when approaching half tank with the standard setup. Still running the DTA S80 ECU.

Have been running it on E85. But have also installed a water meth kit for when E85 is unavailable so can run regular pump gas or ethanol, mix it with castor oil for extra smell factor.

Extended control arms in the front and SLR lock kit. In the rear have converted to true coil over setup, trailing arm bushings removed and changed to monoball bearings along with camber and toe adjusters. Trailing arms reinforced. Front and rear converted to 5 stud.

Exhaust is 3", basically straight through with the longest resonator I could fit.

    17x8 and 17x9 BBS wheels.

Still a lot to do. Photos in no particular order, including some older ones that have gone missing from tiny pic. Will get some proper updated pics once I get back out to the car.

Given Hydes previous statements about NZ women and characterisation of Bimmersport members as "cuckloaders", would he care to talk about the links between the HMW logo and cuckold symbology?

I guess he is just fortunate his meltdown didn't coincide with Tarants actions in Christchurch. He did well to leave NZ when he did but can be sure the folk at Pine Gap etc will always be watching.

Interesting. I wasn't sure of the link between the the HMW logo and cuckold symbology so Googled cuckold symbol, but only found images of black bulls and micro penises.

Can you please elaborate, sounds like it could be good for a laugh. We are overdue for a good bimmersport drama.

Here is a Dyno done in of Matt / Penguin Pools in Tauranga, NZ.
And you can see the output a whopping near 290whp. And he was not even running 8PSI, but 6.

And here is the other with a whopping 330whp on another dyno.

    image2(2).thumb.jpeg.73630de35de1fd16fd7a76de89bf910b.jpeg

Now the calculations are just a formula, but they are far from poor or made for duping people, numbers are right in front of you.

    Hi Troy,

There are a few things we need to add to this.

    1. Penguin Pools must have used multiple engines If I recall the M52 was used later on? Dynos are above/below attached of their cars.

    2. The Brackets were MADE BY Penguin Pools using our instructions and whatever material / method they chose to use. And they regretted it and mentioned they would had preferred to gotten the brackets from HMW.
So the brackets were not supplied by or and official HMW Product, which is huge chunk of metal 10mm thick.

So in Matts (Penguin Pools) Case, they wanted a cheap setup, built the brackets following our V2 designs, had a relatively good power output as you can see for a stock engine. It went well, Then they wanted more power, now for their budget, the next upgrade kit is the M1 ratted for upto 500-700HP. Last year they wanted to upgrade to the M1 Kit, but due to work and personal life problems on his side, he could not afford to go that route. And perhaps he was not needing that kind of power, Anybody who has doubts can go check with him directly. So in such a case, what is someone to do? They have to make compromise, and get what works best for them within their budget. That would be a turbo.

They are NOT Teflon coated. Something we found out as well. ;)

Hardly worth comparing those two dyno sheets. Look at the torque correction factors, they are both wildly different.

Look at the torque on the dynapack, its got more humps in it than a cardi b music video. If I remember correctly this was because of belt slip, its hard to get enough belt wrap with the smaller pulleys. We got it sorted in the end. Probably still a can of belt grip lying around in the boot of the car.

The brackets were made as per your design so should be exactly the same. As I said, he didn't have any problems with them. I just didn't like the pick up points it used and how wobbly it seemed.

Pretty sure its always had the same motor in it. Also note that the car is running e85 to get those numbers.

Hey the car went well, and was pretty reliable.. other than the sc14 failing often. As you said, they are an old unit and unless you buy a brand new one they are expected to fail, especially when spinning them above rated speed. But they aren't worth spending anymore than $300 on whether its new or second hand because at the 300whp mark or so they are tapped out and running well out of their rated design.

Interesting to know what they are coated in if you happen to know? I haven't had one apart to inspect.

By the looks of it your kits have come along way from some of the first iterations.

We had one that died a good death. Didnt throw a rod but the oil got so hot it started to come out of the sump on fire. Ended up igniting the car and gutting it. That was awkward, when the fire department came to a rural dead end gravel road to put out a car fire with a bunch of guys there. Uh yes sir, we were just driving and it caught fire 😂

Garage54 is awesome. Dont be so serious. Every "dangerous" thing they do is probably safer than daily life in Russia.

Oil coming out of the sump on fire is a good one !

Had a few interesting ones, all paddock bashers.

Honda civic hatch back, carby model. Revved its tits off while we threw stones and dirt down the carb. Flywheel exploded and took the bellhousing and starter with it.

Another honda, rev limiter until engine caught fire. Ran it over and crushed it with a digger the next day.

Old VK commodore with Bluetop 202 motor, drained all the oil out and put a couple liters or petrol in the sump hoping for it to spin a bearing, never did. Had the valve cover off and standing on top of the rockers holding valves open while its at full rev hoping for a valve to kiss a piston but never did.

3SFE Toyota corona, back yard hack job we put a turbo on. Went really well till it melted a piston and shot the dipstick out and coated the windscreen in oil. Down to pick a part, brought a replacement piston, swapped it in, re used the old head gasket. Started first pop and lived to see a few more thrashings.

F**king idiots doing dangerous dumbass sh*t for internet points. I was disappointed that a big chunk didn't fly out of that rotor and punch a hole in their car.  Rates right up there with the clowns that drain the oil out of an engine and put a brick on the gas pedal to see how long it takes to blow up. Gratuitous crap that proves nothing except that youtube is the vehicle of choice for the true bottom feeders of society.

Nothing like a good rant to end the day :)

    Cheers...

I tryed really hard to blow up a few engines in my time, hoping for them to throw a leg out of bed but they never did.
