^thanks!
Looks like i will need to dig deeper. I will keep doing it the old school way for now - use the key in the door to lock/unlock haha 😁

Yup i get the flashing red light post changing batteries. I’ve tried both ways but no luck. Read on other forums that it could be a safety connection in bonnet or boot that may not be engaging when closed, thereby creating an open circuit? But have no idea how to check this

Glad you got it to work @qube!
I gave it a go and no joy - anyone got any other suggestions?
Oh, BTW mine is an E31 with the 3 button remote. I have fresh batteries in the remote but it just wont 'pair' to the car ☹️. Cheers!

Having the same issue with initializing a remote too, so will give this a go!

Is the other kit still available? if so postage to Wellington? Cheers

That's a beauty! What a way to comeback to the brand 😀

Nice manual 540i you have there. I reckon it will be well worth bringing it back to its formal glory. Good luck!

I'll stick to my gas guzzling, high emissions 25 year-old 'dungers' me thinks 😉

I'm not sure that you will find a BMW/Mini garage/specialist in Whakatane. But...
I travel regularly to Whakatane and last year I took my e31 fuel pump housing with me to try a local auto electrician. Long story but it had a dead pump and damaged housing wiring. After calling several businesses I decided to take it to Super Auto Electrical. They sourced and fitted an OE Bosch fuel pump, then repaired the wiring all for what I consider a reasonable cost (hundreds v thousands for a genuine complete unit). No-one in Wellington was even remotely interested in helping me out.
Run by a husband and wife with a team of mechanics they gave great service. Len, the owner, says they do a lot of work on the local euro's, BMW, Porsche, VW etc. When I was there they had an X5 and a VW Toureg showed up. They are my first port of call if I need a garage when I'm there.
Hope this helps.

Which one would be worth a gamble on? 😁
Timing chain guides and Valve seals an issue with the 4.8?

What about this one: https://www.trademe.co.nz/a/motors/cars/bmw/listing/2950894624?bof=YZ79LrrT
Pretty rare?

Listed longer than the infamous P. North E39 540i ‘Schnitzer’ with low kms? The one that is slowly decaying on the dealers yard? It must be close 😁😁

The one that was listed on Trade Me over Xmas in the Hawkes Bay? If so was tempted myself as it seemed to be well looked after. And a good price too iirc.
Congrats on the purchase!

Great stuff.
Reminds me, i need to get my seats done 😁 -
It sure is @balancerider! It has a third more filling capacity than my HSV wagon, which has 1.7l more cc’s. Thats why this one hovers around the halfway full mark 😎.
but the bigger tank is in line with its GT nature 😁
