So, is grey the main new colour for BMWs in the Netherlands also?
-
Five years ago, I lived in Seoul (Sth Korea) for a year - every BMW I saw there was silver - no variation at all.

The 'illegality' of it all sucks of job protectionism! Martyn - I think they look good! To me it finishes off your car nicely.

DNZ: yes, colour choice on the yard is a whole subject for car salespeople, I believe. I am not, not have I ever been in the business, but as a car lover, I do notice car sales yards when I'm driving. Bright colours in the front of the yard always draw my attention. When I bought my 528 there were two in the yard, one with fewer Km and only a couple of thou extra, but it was white (it was only a 520 as well) - the white one is still there. Apparently white BMWs are quite harder to shift. BMWPower - your point is valid also - newer BMW buyers tend to be older and more conservative - brighter colours are not normally associated with that. Personally I like the brighter colours, but they're correspondingly harder to find.

Thanks shadowninja - that colour is a very polarising one. Love it or hate it - but it sure stands out from the crowd of grey...

You just quoted several of my definitions of hell...

The main problem I have with the new range is that are no longer distinctively BMWs. To me they could easily be Nissan Maximas, Mazda 6's or a whole slew of Japanese cars...

A few years back, Shelley had a Fiji Green 318 Motorsport parked out front. That colour certainly turned heads - I had to stop to check it out. Great way to attract foot traffic to the showroom.

I don't know what the BMW showroom is like in your town, but here, it's almost as though they don't want to attract customers. ALL the new cars in the window are various shades of grey or similar colours. Even the blue one is almost grey. This doesn't turn heads, which I thought would be an ideal for a car sales firm. Is this a trend with the new models all over NZ? Is grey the new BMW colour of choice? I'm sure some people like grey, but surely not everyone? My choice would have grey slightly below white at the bottom of my preferred colour table. My first BMW was a Diamond Swartz E36 and that was grey as far as I'm concerned.

Looking at that pic of the Toyota in your sig reminded me in '84 I had a Mitsi Cordia Turbo and lusted after a Starion. Can you imagine even looking at a Starion these days...

The idiot car sales where I bought my 325 had put CSA mags on it. I couldn't stand having CSA logos on my wheels, I went to the local agents and bought 4 real BMW wheel roundels for something like $7 each. Made a huge difference. As I may have mentioned, I prefer my cars to look completely stock. I know most of you guys don't, but that's all good - we're all entitled to our own opinions.

Black - the new white.

Honestly this is the funniest shit you'll ever see

Thanks, mate - I enjoyed that. The phrase 'serves him fecking right' doesn't begin to express it - not the least for putting a chainsaw motor in his car ~ and the roughest running chainsaw motor I've ever heard. -
If you haven't seen the catchphrase email going round - do yourself a favour and downloadlookat this - funny as hell! catchphrase

LOL - you talking 'bout my bitches???
-
I see - many thanks! Does the clip-in variety make them easier to steal?
-
Sorry for my ignorance - what are the plate holders for? I have an E39 and there doesn't seem to be any need????
-
Where did you source them from, mate?
-
That link is cool - unfortunately they didn't have an E39 for me to play with, but I found some great colours for the E46.
-
I really like them - with BMW centre caps - excellent. That may of course be the kiss of death for you, because I'm old, so my tastes are conservative.

in White? OMG it'll match my metrosexual iPOD - its a 'must have'!!
-
LOL - I have to shamefully admit that I once owned a Holden.... it was an experience I shall not repeat. Mind you, I've had about a dozen Fords as well - oh the shame...
-
