  1. Hah, nice. I just have a small 12" slim sub in mine, I got sick of having no boot room. Trouble is, it doesn't stand up right by itself. So needs to screw into somewhere. Also, my amp is screwed directly onto my sub, which I have heard completely buggers them, but again same issue, don't know where to mount it all. I think in this case the $60 may be worth it so I don't have the hassle.
  2. Unsure, was a quick chat on the phone, just told him I had everything, but couldn't be bothered doing the work myself really. Prefer to keep my spare wheel in the well with my luck How has every one mounted theirs? What brackets etc are used?
  3. Hey all, Any advice on the best way of mounting a sub and amp in the trusty e30? My sub is a slimline one, and it keeps falling over. Sound around in Henderson said they can install it professionally for $60, but would see if I can do a ok enough job myself first before spending the money. All help appreciated

  5. Thanks!! I guess I should have scrolled further down the page and I would have seen a post about it already. Apologies!
  6. Hey guys, Having an issue when trying to upload attachments.... Warning: date_default_timezone_get(): It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'Pacific/Auckland' for 'NZST/12.0/no DST' instead in /srv/bimmersport.co.nz/bimmersport.co.nz/www/htdocs/forums/init.php on line 269 The above is what is said below "attachments" when replying to posts in a thread... Please help :-) Thanks
  7. Thanks every one for the help, ended up getting some clips of HellBM and self tappers to screw in... But what came out were two sided rubber/plastic clips. Got them in now, best thing I have done to it in months :-)

  9. Definitely facelift, have posted a photo for reference. Andy, sounds like you need to get back into the E30 club
  10. Thanks Andy, but the clips I have off my car are plastic and they don't fit the brackets I have purchased. No screws either. Thinking of just buying some nuts and bolts that fit nicely. Can't wait to get it all set up though!
  11. Hey guys, Any particular types of clips or screws to be used when mounting the fog lights for the e30 on the factory mounting points? Car had blanks on it held on by rubber clips. All suggestions appreciated Thanks
  12. Sorry for the late reply, finally got my car back after about a month from when it happened. The invoice for the repairs was charged out at $1700, with the oil pick up, lower and upper sump being replaced. Majority of the price was a huge mark up on parts, and about $700 worth of labour. At least I will be more careful from now on even though it was mainly sh*t road works.
  13. Bit of a story over the last two weeks with my little e30. I was driving down Great South Road on the 26th of May when I hit a protruding man hole cover. As per the photos, this in turn smashed my sump, resulting with oil spilling all over the road. It took me about 150m before I could pull over and turn the engine off. Fingers crossed that there is no damage to the engine though we think the engine will be ok. As you can see, my car is not excessively low. Because the roadworks were incomplete this meant there was a dip in the road causing suspension compression. Long story short, we complained to the Auckland Council/Auckland Transport, who then forwarded our complaint to Downer. Almost immediately they accepted liability and told me to claim through my insurer. Finally after two weeks of going back and forth between Downer and my insurer, the car is getting picked up on Monday to take to get quoted/fixed. Hopefully she's back by the weekend. Just means that it pays off to complain once in a while....
  14. Hey guys, Set of four bottlecaps with tires - Two decent tread and two not so great tread - may get away with a warrant. Only two centrecaps come with. Pick up on the North Shore, $100 ONO. Also have them running on trade me with more pictures... http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=586495610

    RIP Cosmos

RIP Brian, only spoke to him a handful of times, once at the Show n Shine at the Festival of Speed a year or two back, and of course at a Bimmersport BBQ... He was a great guy to chat to and my wishes go out to his family. Best wishes for his funeral, and all the best Brian.
  16. Saw _Ethrty-Andy_ today at Greville Road on the North Shore, bit far from home? Did you see the chaos at the roundabout before the motorway, first bit of rain for the months, and then some one spins out!
  17. 6 monthly warrants are an inconvenience, and I can see where every one is coming from about older vehicles. But like others have said, it's up to the owner to keep it maintained, and not all owners are that car savvy, or frankly can be bothered. I for one like to know I am driving a safe vehicle, hence why I check over it frequently etc. Does New Zealand have a system to check the first registration overseas on imports? Would be interesting to know.
  18. So my take on this wof change is that if your car is over three years old and first registered after 1 January 2000 that you will only need annual checks. Does this mean because my 89 E30 was imported and first registered in January 2000 that this applies to me?
  19. Hi guys, So looking at selling my beloved e30. 1.8L Manual (converted from auto by HellBM). Lowered on H&R springs - by HellBM. Estimated that it has done 200,000kms, however odometer stopped working about a year ago at 189,000kms. Comes on standard bottle caps, all tires warrantable. (spare tyre basically brand new). Seats are a little ripped in the front. Smiley headlights Dash has a few cracks in it - as usual. Mint body. Comes with standard Pioneer head deck and sony speakers - wiring for a sub included. Plates do not come with car (but who would want them) Forgot to mention, comes with warrant and registration. Rego expires inJanuary, warrant in December. Waterpump, thermostat have been recently replaced. Inspections and drives welcome in the North Shore area. Please contact Rae on 0275050804. For Bimmersport members, $3500 ono. Otherwise, May be going on Trademe.
  20. Could do with a bigger engine... then she would be complete.
  21. Sorry about the late reply.. car is lowered on standard shocks but in regards to mm, you will need to speak with Ray at HellBM as he was the one who fitted them.. I don't get into the technical stuff...
  22. Yeah that would be me Car needs a wash though....
  23. Appreciate it Andy! I forgot to get holders Can't wait to get them on though!
  24. Thanks for all the recommendations, really appreciated the help. In the end I've gone with National Bank Insurance.. I think their underwriters are Vero? They have been the cheapest so far with premiums and excesses (which are a b*tch because I'm under 25). They have insured me for market value.. so hopefully IF something happens to the E30, they will be in high demand and expensive They also will insure my car with any other driver - however a higher excess applies, so that's all good. Took an arm and a leg to get my Demerit History from LTSA though. The insurance company wanted that first since I have had.. um.. just a few speeding tickets in my past. Not so much of a ninja.
  25. Hey ya, yeah as far as I know it usually is (sister's car). Thanks
