  1. I have an E36 coupe with staggered M Contours, fitted with correct size (225/45/17, 245/40/17) tyres.

Today the WOF man advised me that the fronts are rubbing on full lock (just, which I new). He advised me that spacers may be needed, which sounds like a solution to a problem which shouldn't exist.

Any ideas on why I am getting rubbing (is there an M3 suspension component I'm missing) or what to do?

    Cheers.

  2. most problems can be over come from what i can see,but its not optimal.

have toyed with the idea of a stock looking e34 540i with this sort of

setup.with the right housing, and not boosting the crap out of it, most lag issues should be minimal.

most folk think anything under 15psi isnt worth it, but with high compression,

a well tuned 10psi on the b40 would be plenty hand fulls.

but then what would i know,i only grow vegies

My favourite car has 11lb, it's more than enough. S55 AMG.

  3. Quite common.... either key, control unit or the barrel in the door starting to fail causing the switch not to be in it's central position

Every time I think about getting a later model BM, I read something like this and think, why?

If it's not cooling systems, it's electrics.

Come to think of it, I could have said a later model Euro.

  4. Just for interest sack checked some of the details of this M5 on RealOEM.com they don't line up. Chassis No WBSNB92000CV17160 as stated in Trade me photo, unless I have it wrong. It comes up as E63LCI,left hand drive, prod month of 05/2008, 635D. Or just a simple wrong chassis number provide maybe?.

You read it wrong (so did I), it's CU, not CV. Comes up as an E60 M5 sedan with s85 engine.

  5. I guess the point is that from memory a VN V6 was 121kw/300nm torque. A 328i is 141kw/280nm torque. I dont know what it costs to transplant a Commy motor and cert it, but I'm guessing more than the changeover between a 318 and a 328. I suppose it would sound better than the 4.

  6. check out the times for last year wallacville hillclimb. There was a tidy 318is coupe competing which shows performance and pace has a lot to do with a drivers ability. 0-100 km is nothing if you can't make it around the next corner. 318is performance is fine.

btw , check out a collegues mini 1275 time. 110 hp max.

You have a point in racing terms Neal, but an E30 325 is not a 328 and and a 318is will be slower for everyday driving. Horses for courses though, I'm sure they'd be fine as an everyday car, just don't take on any 1.8 Corollas.....
