  1. Try a Bushranger Exhaust- Jack. Basically a blow up tub that starts out flat but blows up when contected to the exhaust. Bought it when car wheel fell thru rotten boards on a car pit. Have since used it on trailers, 4x4 trips etc. Great investment that folds up into a special bag.

Cheers, maybe that's better than the wood, as I've had a think and with a flat tyre, a piece of 4x2 ain't gonna cut it. The trouble I had Sunday was with properly inflated tyres.

  2. Strangely, I don't drive around with a piece of 4x2 in the boot on the off chance I need to use the jack. Plus, I only discovered the existing one won't work on Sunday and there was no wood handy, (luckily there was a garage lip to drive on, but I can't count on those either), so a decent solution is needed.

Scissor jack or Garys trolley if I can find one that small.

    Cheers.

  3. After hitting a rock on Sunday (see Wanted to buy), I decided to jack the car up and check for damage. Then I discovered that I can't actually get the jack (standard) under the car as it's lowered.

So the question is, what are other owners of lowered E30's using for a jack? I normally use the car for longish trips, so don't fancy being stuck in the middle of nowhere.

    Cheers.

  4. I had a quote for this sort of thing yesterday, for an E36 coupe. Strip bonnet, fix both bumpers, numerous parking rashes and dents, repaint boot etc etc. $2500 +GST. Whole respray $4k.

Also had a quote from Evans European for the M325i, $5k + for a complete respray.

Quality of work wise, I'd probably go with the first guy, as he does a lot of resto work and a lot of euro stuff.

    My 2 cents.

  5. Whoa thats a great drive man - at least the weather was nice!

Your supposed to be selling yours to me - I want a delphin one

You wouldn't want it at the moment, has about an inch of dust and dirt over it. Yeah weather was nice, had the sunroof open and got sunburnt, going to see about the air con today.

If Doug has been offered $16k for his, then this may not be such crazy pricing, as Kerry said, they are only original once and maybe there's a premium there?

  6. There would have to be a very compelling reason to drive with the roof up!

Always the roof down (can't remember the last time I drove it in the rain). Wasn't me though.

15" weaves by the way, about the same ride height as Will's.

I agree Will, 'vert for the sun, Motorsport in the rain for the (sideways) win!

  7. Paying for our own roads?

1/3 the population paying 1/3 of car rego and petrol taxes plus prob more than 1/3 of all other taxes and we receive a mile under the equivalent amount of funding for roading projects.

You're f**king lucky we are so generous (and unorganised), because if it was done on a strict user pays regime, all of Northland would be single lane gravel roads.

Back OT, those lights will screw central Akld, just as they open the much vaunted CMJ, that's Spaghetti Junction to most people.

  8. A mate of mine is a repo guy (no, he didn't take your car) and he says go and ask for your stuff. If you have any receipts, great, otherwise, try it on anyway. Turn up with the original wheel (those standard ones are worth like what, $10?) and say I'll have mine back thanks, plus amp, sub and whatever else is yours. Incidentally, he would have let you take your stuff. Otherwise, small claims??Disputes tribunal?? You're basically stuffed thanks to the wanker you bought it off. If you want to PM the finance company behind this caper, I MAY be able to offer some more advice. Good luck.
