Definatly an arse about face way of doing it and yeah it wont remove the fan from the hub but at a push it works.

From memory when I replaced the water pump on our 320 I didn't have a 32?mm spanner so I removed the belt and undid the pulley from the pump (4 bolts). The pump did have a shagged bearing which had caused the fan to hit the radiater and broke a blade off it. Maybe that made it easier?

You can undo the pulley with 10mm spanner too. ????

We had a similar sounding problem with our 328. From memory it was a Vanos problem. Not something you can diagnose or fix yourself.

Perhaps, but how does any of these new rules solve any current problems.They're braking current laws, they aint going to give a sh*t about new ones. Should also add that this is the same reason we shouldn't tolerate illegal modifications. -
