  1. I was looking at this one Paul: http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=207683474 Yeah not my first option for sure, but I thought if I found a mint auto then I would consider it. The price of manual E36 328s don't seem to be falling very much. Cheers mate, that sounds more reasonable (like the prices quoted for Japanese cars). I got told by Coolcar it was $3k to convert everything in the E36, which is just ridiculous. Any recommendations on who I should go to in the future?
  2. Ah, now we know the importance of keywords Look what you've done to the poor guy, M3 as first BMW, upgrading's not going to be easy
  3. Are you a detailer Mike?? Great attention to detail, a fantastic job.
  4. Auto or manual E39? Would love a manual one but so hard to find in NZ.
  5. My old E36's AC used the old R12 gas and it ran out. Was told by Coolcar that I had to retrofit an entire new air-con system to convert to R134a because R12 is now illegal. What do you guys with older cars do?
  6. I'm currently looking for a manual BMW. What are your opinions on the best manual to get? Not too particular with 3 or 5 series, prefer a newer car but probably the newest manual I can afford is an E36 328. The only thing it absolutely must have is air conditioning (which I guess is also a problem with older cars such as the E30 because they would use the R12 gas and I wouldn't be able to refill it if it runs out?). Other than that I'm open to anything, the ones I've seen on TM are the E34 535is (but unfortunately that doesn't have air-con), E30 325, E30 318is, and the few E36 328s listed. Also: - Anyone know the cost for a E36 328 manual conversion nowadays? I'm considering going that route if I come across a good auto. - Will a Tech II kit fit a pre-FL E30? I would really consider going with an E30 if I can find a car like Bravo's or Gus's old car. Wondering if I have the option to go Tech II down the road if I get a pre-FL. Edit: Also has to have decent power-to-weight, wouldn't go with an E34 525 for example.
  7. One of my favourites... I thought it already went to the new owner about a month ago? The 'How it Sold' link doesn't work, btw.
  8. Exactly my thoughts. Paint looks good though.
  9. M52 has the oil cap at the front, M50 has it at the rear by the firewall. And the VANOS is the bit that sticks out at the front of the valve cover.
  10. From the ones you listed, Ruff Racing is my pick.

    Personalised plates

It used to be $900+ to get them at the BMW dealer, that was when the PP plates were cheaper than they are now. So I would guess more than $1k now? Which is pretty ridiculous considering it's just the stickers that are different.

  15. That seems to depends on who you ask Nick. They get their fair share of complaints too. You should be able to adjust them manually from the engine bay - there will be controls on each headlight to adjust the projector vertically and horizontally. But first look for screws that mount the headlight to the car and use them for the bigger adjustments if the projection is way off, as the ones on the headlight are for finer adjustments. Some resources for you: http://forum.e46fanatics.com/showthread.php?t=254595 http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/aim/aim.html
  16. How much are they new??? With the price of refills it sounds like you'll be better off buying new ones.
  17. I know, Nick. Makes you want to buy them just because they're so purdy
  18. Great plate you got on there!

    Nice save.

All the replies so far tells us that if we go out as a convoy, we'd better not drive past reflective surfaces or there might be a massive pile up

  21. +2 If you really want a badge Glenn, it needs to be ///M by itself, or 316ti Don't see anything wrong with an M badge on an M-tech car, but having an M then 320i etc after it just makes the rear end look too cluttered.

    Nice save.

I used to look at the rear end when reversing towards mirrored glass... to check if my tail lights were still working.
