I looked at the website too, and couldn't see how it worked. But what you say makes sense, about preloading the side gears. And I am inclined to agree, it is a sh*t idea.Spend the $$$ and buy a proper LSD.

I have to agree with Andrews earlier comment, 280 hp out of a 2.8 must be really low boost, probably only 6 or 7 pounds. Throw the Steward computer in the bin, fit a proper computer and crank it up to 15lbs!

Those Scandinavians are mad bastards- always the ones with the mega horsepower whatevers- gotta love them! I like that turbo conversion of the S50, thats a good one. Stood the engine up a bit to make room for the exhaust, and hp figures look pretty honest too. Always an option with mine if I can't run with the Porsches! :thumb:

I took this car for a spin yesterday, and can confirm it goes a LOT harder than it used to! It feels like all of the 250hp that the dyno says, and the torque delivery is superb, a big improvement over stock. It is being raced tomorrow in the first round of the endurance series at Manfield, and if I am lucky I will get some laps in tomorrow morning. Will post some more pics on Monday. :thumb:

a bit hard to see, but pretty sure those are Speedlines, same as the ones used on many Gp.A M3 rally cars. NLA too.Stripes look v.cool! a nice twist on the Motorsport theme.

It certainly does, it also sounds VERY dodgy! Especially given that it is cheap! Is the vendor trying to hurry you into paying for it ( "I have two other people who are very keen to buy"..... etc etc.) Does the vendor check out? Plenty of stolen WRX's/Evo's looking for a new home. Listen to the alarm bells, they are there to warn you!
-
give the vendor a personal cheque as a holding deposit, made out to the vendor (not cash!) tell them you will bring the balance in cash, when you pick the car up. This will buy you three or so days to check it out, which is plenty.VIN and rego obviously need to match, colour of car is on rego details, check to see it is not a respray,or VIN tag hasn't been "cut and shut", check engine numbers against VIN, ask to see ownership papers, check address of owner etc. If they don't accept this, walk!

$19K bid and reserve not met?!!!!!!!!!! I think that is very good money for it.How much would any of you guys and girls pay for it if money wasn't a big issue?

Aaahh Wayne, where have I seen that name recently?!!!To answer your question, a spare would be nice in case of a blowup, or maybe to build as a full spec race engine, I don't know. At these sort of numbers I would be silly not to grab it!

I found it at Turners DVA, I had been looking for ages and had pretty much given up, and up it popped! I haven't seen one since, so I guess there was a bit of luck involved. I was considering importing a wreck from Japan when I spotted this car. Spargo, still waiting for you to answer my question!

I would like to hear of a more economical way of getting 320hp in an E30, reliably! It is only worth what someone is prepared to pay for it on the day, you know that, and so does James! I paid $10K for the complete car that I wrecked, so my engine/box owes me about $5 or $6K. I am still interested in hearing why it won't go anywhere for under $10K?

thats a bit boring! a bit like saying "no more sex/drinking, I have had my fair share!" Lets see how "keen" wayne is!

what is the new commandment?!!!

I agree, and have always preferred the "RS" style as they are a proper 3 piece wheel with spun rims, where the type 5 is 2 piece with cast rims, and I am not a big fan of "imitation" 3 piece wheels- but that is probably me just being anal! Problem is finding the RS wheels, not exactly common.

Don't think you got special treatment just because of your description you gave us, I am sure all of their "customers" are made to feel that special too!

Hack saw! I would have no hesitation! Leave the clamp where you got clamped, so at least they couldn't say you knicked it. Offer to get it welded back up if they moan about it. I'd do it. :rambo:

looks like one of those "Auscars"- 1/2 scale racecar thing.

track car only, buy an E30 M3 ex Japan, you will land one for $10-$12K from what I have seen. Sell interior and any other bits you don't need. Couple of cheap race seats and a cage, what more do you need? Or a 944 Turbo, they are getting cheap now, handle really well and go like stink.

Just to throw my 0.02c in. I have used a couple of different products on leather. Connolly "hide food" as sold by some BMW dealers is good stuff, as is the beeswax type product, which I am using at the moment. One important step before you use a conditioner, is to CLEAN the leather first. I bought a bottle of mild citric based leather cleaner from my upholsterer, he has it made up to his spec. but any good quality leather cleaner should do. Important to do this step first, (you will see the dirt come off on the cleaning cloth!) Otherwise you end up driving the dirt into the leather when you apply the conditioner. I spent $200 on a leather cleaning kit for my lounge suite, but the main components of this kit are the cleaner and conditioner. If your leather is worn through in places and the colour is gone, an upholsterer can recolour it, but MAKE SURE they are using the proper leather recolouring product, as many just use cheap and nasty vinyl spray, which eventually stuffs the leather! Spend a bit of time and money and do it right, you will be amazed at the results!

Have a look at the car I bought in "E30 race car" post that I started in the performance section. Very minor damage to front radiator support panel, and broken sump/engine mounts. MINT shell, very good paint, no sunroof,no rust, mint interior, alloys wheels,(4 new tyres, unused spare, jack, tools etc!) picked up from Turners Damaged Vehicle Auctions for $600! You will find a few dogs while you are looking, but be patient, one will turn up that suits. I found several others after buying mine that fit your criteria, and were cheap. All the usual places, trademe, Turners etc. Loads of them for sale, just be fussy, and you will find what you want!
