Yeah I saw the remains of that GTX... That car has a colourful history in Hawkes bay - its been thru about 5 boy racers, all of whom I knew in someway, and it was very prone to shitting gearboxes. Well, I guess it wont be doing any more gearboxes... On a more serious note, 6 people in a 5 seat (max) car with no seatbelts on at all (not even front seat passengers) so I am amazed that even 2 poeple survived

- 1985 Holden Rodeo first ever vehicle. Had a Nissan LD20 in it 5spd - painfully slow but a lot of fun, I learnt to control a sliding vehicle in this beast, I wish I still had it! - 1995 Nissan Pulsar GTi hatch back. Hell quick compared to the rodeo, took it everywhere I shouldnt have (like places only a 4wd should go!) and in the end it was very maggot! -1988 Toyota Carina diesel wagon - I still have this - IT JUST WONT DIE! We take it out for a hiding on the gravel everytime I go home - ironically, it was the cheapest car I have ever brought and it has cost f**k all to keep running, the most expensive thing was the diff and rear axel after bouncing into a concrete slab while playing on diesel! - $120 and it was mint again) - 1995 BMW 325i My baby. Still got it, its just locked up in the shed at the moment... I havent seen it for about a month... - 1986 Toyota Hilux Diesel - I took a shine to utes and brought another one, this thing was mint for an 86 - it had only done 170K when I got it (try and find a hilux that old with less Ks for the $1500 I paid for it! It was mint and had no rust and had a full service history. I miss it! - 1989 Toyota Camry Diesel Turbo - I only have this because it was given to me as a work vehicle so I didnt continue the trend of 20000km in my bmw in the 1st 3 months of this year. I have had a bit of a colourful history with vehicles - I have always had a diesel floating around somewhere (do a lot of Ks for work) and only 2 petrol powered "toys". Of the vehicles I have had, I want my 2 diesel utes back - they were so much fun!

Thanks guys - Im glad that got clarified! I have got the exhaust freedup - that made a massive difference. I had a K&N pod filter on it but it actually seemed to be a hinderence. Will be doing a K&N panel filter in it before its out of the shed again...

What a sleeper!! Who would ever expect an edirty to be hiding such a power plant - especially when it has the old school black number plate!! I agree with keeping the badge - it would trip so many people out! 33oi??? WTF?? I look forward to the hot box that you know is coming its way... :mosh:

Oh man, what a sorry sorry sight - when you text me this afternoon I had visions of it being confined to the engine bay - Words cannot describe what it feels like to look at those pictures bro, and I cant even begin to imagine what it was like to standby as your pride and joy went up in smoke! If there is anything I can do to help ya bro, just say the word and I will do what I can - if you can get over towards the Pukekohe way I have plenty of green stuff to help ease the pain. Im assuming you will be re-bodying it since you dont want to be selling parts - again, if you need a hand with it, let us know! Im sure the majority of Bimmersport would be keen to help in any way they can too - after all, having your car go up in flames would be like having a loved one die - hang on, it is having a loved one die - that car was the closest thing to a child you got aint it? - Rememeber when we got you too tozed to drive???? Haha that will be a night I shall always remember

haha get out there and practice! - just sort of play with the gas once you've dumped it to hold the rev about even with the rev you dropped the clutch at, until it gets traction then floor it.Have a bit of a play and work out a system you can manage - you have an LSD so its not going to take too much effort to get it goin hard!
-
Sure there are worse things, but why leave out the welcome mat to anyone on the net to see that your promoting piracy...That sale sounded pretty good Glenn - wish Id had the time and $ to go to it~
-
"Das Boat" that about sums it up - but that is seriously bad!
-
um sorry to say this dude, but VR4s, Primeras, GSRs and galants are 4/114.3 - in other words, 4/100 wont fit... You may want to change your Trademe auction to reflect this - just so you dont get some dickhead coming back at you cryin cos they dont fit his mums Galant...
-
f**k I dont know! That would be why I asked... I have time to kill and would like to do something other than just cosmetics to my car with that time.... What exactly is a MAF? I probably know, but I cant place it right now...
-
but you now have LSD - why not standing start? you probably have the advantage there (if the M535 is auto)
-
Basically as the title suggests - I am sure I read on here somewhere (but cant for the life of me find it) that if I swap my 325s AFM with one out of a 535 it increases airflow and therefore performance? I would like to know a little more about this, and any other little tricks like that. If anyone has further ideas (that actually work) please post them up in here! Cheers

this has gone a wee way off topic, but I hope your not promoting the illegal duplication of copyrighted material... This is a public forum after all...*I dont do that sh*t*

I have a stock standard E36 right hand wing mirror just sitting around, but if you want M3 mirrors, follow this link and order a set - they are non electric and because they are for a LHD you have to lean over to the left a little to see out of it properly, but they look the part, and they are designed to hold your spotting utensils while they cool down! N1 Kits - M3 replicas

Maybe he was just enjoying frying someone elses tyres? How often does someone hand you the keys to a new M5 and tell you to go have fun, but come back with a decent story!Hell, I know Id be hanging it out like that if I got the chance! Awesome video, and I get the feeling that the sound that comes thru doesnt do it justice! (still sounded pretty massive!)

But GTX's are renouned for being expensive to keep/maintain!How many gear boxes did you go thru in the end?
-
That all depends on what goes wrong with them! I have been pleasantly surprised several times when I have bought parts for my car - like my ball joint - I rang around various places in Hamilton (when I was at work) and the stealer was cheaper than everywhere else (including all the "specialist" wreckers in the area)Heres an interesting little comparison I have found since I have had my 325... Before I got my bimmer, I had a 95 Pulsar GTi. I had to replace my front discs and pads just before I decided to trade up. 2 front discs and a set of brake pads were $700 (part only) I did the front discs and pads in my 325 approx 6 months after I got it, and I was amazed when the total bill was only just under $500 - thats 2 discs, and new pads - fitted. Also, if you call the stealer and get a price on something like a tail light or something (brand new, genuine parts) for a bmw and then do the same for another make (like a nissan or a toyota), the bmw stealer is usually cheaper. Im not sure why, but for some reason Toyota/Nissan/other major Japanese car makers always seem to charge the earth for genuine parts. Having said all that, I suppose that only makes a difference if you only use brand new, genuine parts. But routine servicing/maintenance shouldt be costing any more than any other make of car - and keeping the maintenance up to scratch (preventative maintenance) often eliminates the need for costly repairs...

yeah not a problem - until its time for a WOF!OR you could call it a rangi external wastegate (on a N/A!)
-
My sentiments exactly! Although this topic has been thrashed before, and the government/police swear that there is no quota, it still seems rather odd that you cant get a cop to come and investigate if your house gets broken into, but you can be sure that you will see untold amounts of police cars on the road patrolling traffic. Blatant revenue gathering.
-
just like you can get off a ticket if the officer isnt wearing his hat when he gets out of the car!
-
He must have been misinformed - I have a letter from the police infringment department that says quite clearly that they are not legally obliged to show you squat (however, not quite in those words). I asked my lawyer if it was worth fighting, (as I was not doing the speed the officer alleged I was doing, plus he outright refused to show me the reading) and he (lawyer) said that all that was needed was for the police officer to identify me in court and the deal was over - the ticket would stick.I know we have at least 1 cop on these forums - how about a little clarification one way or the other? Or maybe its just different regions have different rules? But that wouldnt be right....
-
hang on! How bout an E36 316 on Chromies? Thats gotta be a bit slower! I think your spot on otherwise Andrew. Also, it doesnt really matter what year it is, if its had a hard life up until now, then it is going to have problems in the near future. But that goes with any car really...
-
There aint nothin' wrong with that - as long as you dont mind paying out the $$$ for clutches, gearboxes, and every other thing that can go wrong!
