Flew to Colorado to pick up a sight unseen car...
Hi-Tek replied to Ghost's topic in General Discussion
Hi Ash, Great write up mate, good read to start the day for sure. I've got some LMs for sale if you're interested Although I love your old E30 M3, I think you've made a good choice with the E39 M5 given the circumstances of parking etc. I much prefer the look of the E39 M5 over the E34. -
The 'Engine Swap' forum on s14.net is a treasure trove of inspiration for sure http://www.s14.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=81

Motul for me also.

^ Yea that's what I thought and I was extremely happy with Classic cover insurance before I got these quotes. http://www.swanninsurance.co.nz/ IAG are their underwriters so that's all good I guess. To be honest I'd say they'd offer the same discount if you told them you were a member of the BMW Club of New Zealand too.
-
The club is the Ford RS owners club (I'm still a member of the club even though I sold my Sierra Cosworth) The quote I got from Swann for the E30 M3 agreed value of $50,000 unlimited mileage,Roadside assistance,Full glass cover,Track day cover is $439 per year with 20% off for being a member of the RS owners club, total $351 per year. Even without the 20% discount it's bloody good and the trackday cover is almost too good to be true.
-
How old are you Riley and is this agreed value insurance mate, if so for how much? I'm currently with classic cover but am about to switch to Swann who use IAG. The car club I'm in were approached by Swann and here's some quotes ( note the big one, trackday cover )

You got a good panel beaters sorted mate?
-
LHD E30 M3s can be registered........ 20 years old from date of first registration, not manufacture date, this his has been discussed a few times on here.
-
Don't you need a car first Laurence? My vote is for Black, I'm not a fan of the blue.
-
^ Quite a lot mate, generally upwards of $5,000 for engine alone. http://www.trademe.co.nz/browse/searchresu...rder=price_desc
-
^ I'm assuming you've owned one of these then?. If not you need to do your homework...... Yes 500HP requires internal work....
-
There's a chap in the U.K with the same engine in a Sapphire Cosworth that is making 950HP 500HP is not all that hard with these engines, light mods, no internal engine work will get you just a touch under 400HP And Greg, you'd be surprised there's a tonne of these in the U.K making that power and more.... Edit* Grammar

He uses Precision Auto Werk in Glenfield on the North Shore. http://www.precisionautowerk.co.nz I've yet to find a better panel/paint shop, seeing what cars they have in their shop is porn material enough

+ 1 for AES Miles and Sam are good cnuts Definitely my first port of call on a Saturday morning when I've got my car in bits and realise I'm missing something.
-
I take it you've seen the few on trademe at the moment mate?
-
Looks like a good piece of kit mate, don't think it'll fit on my M3 somehow.. I've linked this thread to hybrid (Josh) so hopefully he'll chime in and be able to help.
-
*Bit of a revival but I only just spotted this thread Chris My vote is for a set of these puppies mate, as close to the classic BBS RS look as you're going to get. Compomotive CXN 3 Piece http://www.comp.co.uk/wheels/wheels.asp?range=CXN_0025

This is my Film CV so to speak, 10+ years and countless overtime........ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1287298/

What part of the country are you in? I might be able to point you in the right direction

That set was too cheap, I got greedy. Plus I'm about to have my set refurbished, the refurbishment is going to cost me more than what that guy was asking on Trademe. I thought I'd just buy his mint set and have keep my ones as spares.
-
Hmm, to bid or not to bid. I had a crack at them, went just over $1000 but all is good as I have a set already. Who ever the person is to have scored these for under $2500 is a lucky ****

Not my thing, but each to their own mate
