Looks great - polish was well overdue! But where has the beautiful exhaust extension gone?! Nice to see it has gone to a good home - I hope to find a car just as cool in Australia!

Did you buy yellow high beams, or did you tint them yourself?

Is it your mum's place? Sweet house, I like the garage

1992 e34 535i 5spd touring station wagon $3.5k

Sweet wagon! Swap him a 318i for it? Hey worth a try, E30s are little so he'd have slightly more space -
AAA+++ Would trade again

As above, lost one of mine whilst emigrating north to Auckland. Anyone got one spare? For 14" Basketweave BBS wheels. Cheers, Will

Roy McGuinness down in Seaview at McGuinness Classics is a nice guy, and pretty sure he does valuations. 101 Gracefield Road. A good bet because he knows the market for old cars, www.mcguinnessclassics.co.nz

I've tried non-OEM ones from Repco, they are rubbish and fail. Does Supercheap stock an OEM version?
-
Hi guys, as above, cheapest option looks like buying an OEM one off Ebay, as copies suck. Will the US ones on Ebay such as the one in the link provided work for my RHD 1990 E30 318i? * Link to Ebay Listing * Alternatively, can any of the parts suppliers on here offer me a better price than $136 NZ including shipping (or close to it, in exchange for not having to wait for shipping) for a genuine part? Thanks, Will

Would hate to drop my pen off the back of the desk...

Hey, someone cretinous teen nicked mine; has anyone got any lying about? The old black metal ones are preferable but any considered. PM me or reply on here. Must be Shelly, for the retro look! Cheers, Will

I use MBL8 additive when I do an oil change, keeps my M40's lifters quiet. Can get it from Mitsubishi dealerships parts departments, and have seen it on TradeMe too.

Thanks, I'm quite keen to go ahead with a non-PS conversion, so if someone can confirm that you've got (or someone else has) the piece that connects to the steering shaft, then I'm keen for the go ahead? I assume the rack is in good condition with no play in it, APT?
-
Hey guys, My E30 318i failed a WOF this morning because the rack is leaking PS fluid, and also the high pressure hose is leaking. The tester recommended having the rack reconditioned, which he said could cost $800+. Most second hand racks don't come with any warranty, but the cost is a fair bit less all up. The car has done over 200,000km and whilst I'm not planning to sell it any time soon, I'd like it to remain a reliable daily driver. My other thought was converting the car to manual steering (my old E30 had no PS, and I don't mind it at all). A manual rack costs about the same, but is there an extra cost removing all the PS paraphernalia? Your experiences would be appreciated Thanks, Will

The photos are terrible so I can't tell if this is Calypso Red; and it's also a four door saloon. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/C...n-280545309.htm Happy to check it out for you, though.

I thought both Japan and Singapore were supplied by BMW South Africa? I could be wrong. NZ new BMW cars are German made. I couldn't comment on the perceived build quality differences. They're all cars, and going to break at some point. I like NZ new, purely because it's better the devil you know! (Service history etc)

About once every two weeks, and probably the same for the interior, my vacuum cleaner is handily stored right next to where I park my car in the garage.

'Beamer' seems the common term in the UK, 'Bimmer' in the USA. I call this site Bimmersport for phonetic reasons, but I'd call my car a 'Beamer' if I was partial to colloquialism. Which I'm not, as 'Beamer' does sound a bit nouveau riche chavvy.

The brake light switch was $65, the labour (including removing a busted stereo and amp) was about $75. Hutt City Auto Electrical, always been impressed with their work. Will be taking it back to have the new stereo system fitted.
-
So it was a faulty brake light switch, and the amplifier was poorly earthed and the stereo plug had consequently eaten itself. Oh well, new stereo arriving soon!
-
It's off to the auto sparky tomorrow. Electrics are not my forte!
-
Nothing has been done to the car, bar the installation of an alarm and immobiliser (by installer services) last year. The stereo fault has developed over time; first, it would turn itself off if a volume higher than 18 was selected, then the problem when the indicators/ brake lights etc developed over the last month. I only noticed the high stop problem last night, but as far as I know, it always worked correctly.
-
My 1990 318i has developed a couple of weird electrical glitches. Firstly, the Hi-Stop light stays on all the time when the ignition is on. Secondly, whenever I put my foot on the brake, indicate, or engage reverse, my stereo dies. Both are very annoying. Does anyone have any idea why? I'm stumped. Ta, Will

I'm tempted to swap... I love fast Clios!
