Andrew 30 Report post Posted July 30, 2008 For those of you who doubted how badass the iPhone was, now is the appropriate time to eat some tasty humble pie. Dynolicious can measure horsepower, 1/4 mile and other performance related crap using the iPhone's in built accelerometer. One word - BADASS. Also lurking in the app store is G-Tac which can do lap timing and graph it. Both are in the AppStore right now - Dynolicious will set you back $16.99 - sweet bugger all compared with a GTech meter. I am downloading it now.
Grant 4 Report post Posted July 30, 2008 I saw this yesterday, and nearly went and bought it (I thought I'll do this later...but then got sidetracked). I must admit it looks pretty damned cool. Let me know what it is like. I have got some pretty damn cool and useful apps in the last few days from the application store. Cheers Grant
Andrew 30 Report post Posted July 30, 2008 Righto - naturally we have been a tested this on a closed and controlled circuit. An RS6 (V6 turbo one) has done a 14.1 1/4 which sounds about right considering the conditions - some controlled vehicles may have got in the way.... Andrew 30 Report post Posted July 31, 2008 We so have to do some more "in depth" testing of this Andrew! I concur - it also has a skidpad feature. This needs thorough testing.
OLLIE 26 Report post Posted July 31, 2008 badass can it measure g force? I loved the nissan GTR on top gear, "due to japanese law the car is governed to 150 (or something) mph but the GPS knows when you are at a race track and automatically switches the governor off"
Andrew 30 Report post Posted July 31, 2008 badass can it measure g force? Sure can.
Apex 693 Report post Posted July 31, 2008 If it’s like the G-tec quarter mile times will be far from accurate.. Mate had one in his Altezza and it told him he was doing 14.9’s,went to Meremere wand could only ‘pull off’ high 15’s. Worth a laugh for 17 bucks though. I've had a GTech meter measure very accurate quarters. People often go slower at Meremere.

mrad01 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2008 How did it go on the private test track Grant? I went out on my "private test track" today with the iPhone app...was only a little damp, but recorded a 13.7 quarter and a 0-100 of 5.3sec I'm sure I could do a lot better in the bone-dry... Very very kick-ass app.
cainchapman 0 Report post Posted August 1, 2008 OK, I might have to upgrade to the new version on the iPod software now. That looks worth the money.

mrad01 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2008 That sounds about right for a 335. What did it give you for guesstimated horsepower? Naa, I should be able to come under 13 in a dry run. Guesstimate HP of 230hp - which is very wrong. Once it stops raining in Auckland, I'll try some dry weather runs.
Tomo 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2008 Garage419 have done their own head-to-head g-tech vs. dynolicious testing on a dyno and at a 1/4mile track and concluded its more accurate than the g-tech meter. Pretty impressive! video after the .
