*Glenn* 855 Report post Posted September 3, 2008 (edited) This is the result of not listening. We checked the VW passat out a few months ago. And advised a proper check as we suspected a leaking head gasket. Came in yesterday and this is the result...TERMINAL The head is away getting checked.. probably a waste of time. Cracks in block on No2 cylinder No second hand motor available in NZ Edited September 3, 2008 by botanymotorworx

elmarco 56 Report post Posted September 4, 2008 Wouldn't that tear your nightie.... Just curious - was the head gasket leaking and the cracked block a result (6 months later), or was the block cracked and giving you symptoms of a leaking head gasket at the first inspection??? There is a lesson in there somewhere - just hope (for the owners sake) that you can get a replacement block.
