Mattzy 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2008 Hey man looking good, btw, the bushes go in sweet with a bench vice! Just take the C-Arm right out, its only a 2 hour job hah. Thanks Chris - Ah im on pretty good terms with the local shop boys so I'll see what they'll quote me. Failing that i'll give that a crack. PS - Damn nice looking wheels bro! BBS? (im still learning BMW wheels) They look like JDM SSR Mesh's:
JiB 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2008 Nice, Sarah was telling me about the "very pretty gearknob". lol! Um, they're BBS RS's (I'm guessing you're referring to the wheels in his sig). 3 piece. Pretty badass. I can let you have a look at mine when you come round. They're very cool wheels, everything can be taken apart Also, local shops should press the bushes for free if you know them. Rob at Bavarian did mine (I was spending too much money there though).

Tomo 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2008 Watch what you say eh Graham! im sure its more a stab at the plasticcy build quality and "futuristic" styling of america's favourite flabby ford, and not the brand in general...

Mattzy 0 Report post Posted September 17, 2008 (edited) Ignorant Muppet. No appreciation for a car with curves. Tsk Well it is quite difficult to "appreciate" the "curves" of a car that looks like it has rolled down the ugly hill and hit all the bumps on the way down. Too rightI've always hated those things. What bumps? its all smooth edges. Anyway, after that, I'm going to buy another one out of spite. A V8 one, with the purple interior. Then I'll supercharge it and make it an e30 basher. But not until I've owned an alfa because I don't want to give tom $100. If you bimmersport blokes got stoned more often you'd learn to appreciate the awesomeness of the mighty taurus. And you're all like 'who the f**k is this'. Brahaha

Mattzy 0 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) People always have to take things one step too far. Back on topic: Quick question for you E30 geeks - Do E30's run horrizontally opposed ABS? Reason I ask is the front left wheel bearing kit has an ABS ring and sensor coming from the wheel well. The front right that ive been give also comes with an ABS ring, but no sensor from the wheel well. I suspect they've given me the wrong wheel bearing kit. ED1RTY 2 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 Wheel bearing kits for non-abs are not sold anymore to my knowledge, they all seem to come with the abs ring as there is no real difference. Are you running ABS? I had ABS hubs on a non ABS car, was fine.

You guys take things pretty seriously for a JDM E30 build on an internet forum ...
bravo 35 Report post Posted September 18, 2008 (edited) Chris is right - you can't get non-abs wheel bearings - just remove the ABS ring if it is not required. Haha Chris - not ford hate my friend, just taurus (and possibly mondeo and new-shape escort) hate. eudamonia - You the manus! Welcome to the forum Andrew. Mattzy 0 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 (edited) Thanks to melowpuf's help we got most of the cambelt and waterpump swap done today, only being stopped short with him having to leave to pick up another car. This suited me fine as the afternoon was too nice to not start drinking early! We also pulled out the remainder of my airconditioning and I cleaned and painted a few bits here and there, as well as having quick tidy of the engine bay loom. Cleaned and painted. As new! Cleaned up and flushed old radiator. Fresh! Even the stars need lubing.. Apparently. Clean cambelt cover! Goodbye heavy non-functioning aircon! Still waiting on the suspension to arrive. ETA is 2 weeks - which gives me enough time to sort out the shifter, tires, and the few bits of interior trim that im lacking. melowpuf 19 Report post Posted September 20, 2008 I dirtied your plastic bag, I's so sorry its was so clean until my dirty hands touched it.. DON"T LOSE THOSE SCREWS!!!!... hrmmm is now a good time to say I can't remember where they went... I think they held the cambelt on the pulley somehow.... Yeah um sorry about the whole running away thing i was planning on pickng up the other car tomorrow but my helpers had a change of plans, It was the scariest drive of my life. I had to drive all the way back from the Brynderwyn's with no 1st 2nd or 3rd gear, I've driven with some scary gearboxes but this was FREAKY.. poor little big 520i, I was waiting for the motor to blow up chugging up those hills in 4th. I think you should name it Joyful Kitty. Guys his knob kicks ass I might secretly steal it tomorow.

Mattzy 0 Report post Posted September 23, 2008 (edited) Monday update: We got the waterpump and cambelt installed. However it looks like the fan is fouling a tad on the radiator (damn Whangarei spec body mods) The tappets also need adjusting. So hopefully by the weekend we should have all the engine noises sorted and have her running nice and healthy. I also had my friend push the R/R wheel bearing in for me. At the same time I cleaned up the RLCA a tad. Picked up my rear tires for the new wheels from JiB - mmmm streach And Melowpuf pointed out that Sally had 3 humps - A long range fuel tank apparently! /Edit Oh and almost forgot to say thanks again to JiB for letting me steal a few pieces of trim from his race car. Cheers mate! Edited September 23, 2008 by Mattzy
