Buyer beware

Looks like the strat is back again, not being nasty, just a friendly warning that's all.

Can anyone tell me where it's come in from,

Righthand drive, speedo in kms, no kit, tourist delivery.

English ones are in miles, so not there I wouldn't have thought.

Wouldn't expect tourist del to come thru Japan,

Is it most likely to be Germany, ex factory?

Unusually for him the plate checks out as belonging to that car, but I don't want to know badly enough to fork out for the Vin number.

I don't know how reliable carjam is, but:

Make: BMW

Model: M535I

Year: 1985

Main colour: Red

Vehicle type: Passenger Car/Van

Body style: Saloon

No of seats: 5

CC rating: 3,406

Fuel type: Petrol

Country of origin: Germany

Compare that with mine:

Make: BMW

Model: 325I

Year: 1990

Main colour: Grey

Vehicle type: Passenger Car/Van

Body style: Saloon

No of seats: 5

CC rating: 2,490

Fuel type: Petrol

Assembly type: Imported Built-Up

Country of origin: South Africa

which is correct.

If that's right, then it's probably ex factory?

Looks tidy, but needs the kit. ;)

don't like the wheels either.

What value would you put on a tidy E28 M535i silver fox?

Gee the engine bay in an E28 is a mess compared to the E34.

Definately needs the kit and new wheels but I wouldnt have thought it would sell at that price. His start is probably closer to the truth but given his history Im not sure Id even want to pay that.

I think the kit was an option. Not all M535's have them.

Also, I feel sorry for the poor guy that bought the "1995" 318i that's actually a '91... yikes.

Engine bay in that is the same as mine right down to the air filter and ali screen.

I paid $3000 for mine, auto, similar k's, 12 months ago.

Premium for manual, maybe $2000 to $3000, so with the market as it is, I'd have it at about $5500 to sell, unless someone who badly wanted one came along?

Lovely to drive, I have the manual conversion to do mine already, just haven't got around to it yet.

Must be alot more lively with more hp & less weight compared to E34's. Wouldn't mind an Alpina E28.

The M30 engine has alot of untidy stuff in an E28, even those bracket supports on the intake, the final swansong in the E32/E34 was the tidiest.

Guest SamSpargo

Mine says build in germany on my carjam, but we all know that's not the case.

And since WHEN have BBS Bugatti rims been "lightweight" ???

I wonder if the box is a genuine close ratio or not? Would add to the value if it was. I doubt it tho.

If infact a "tourist delivery" car -it could have been specced as per what was ordered. Our E12 was a tourist delivery car straight from the factory & specced to the previous (first) owners requirements.

So why do we give this guy sh*t?? He seems to be a BMW fanatic, look at all his cars!! I see he has a rapidly appreciating Suzuki Cappuccino also. His house looks bloody nice

Live and let live, I don't understand all the fuss either. Having questionable taste in paint trim for your car and making smart answers to people with genuine questions just makes you someone to ignore in my book. There are plenty more truly dodgy traders out there in the world.

I assume he drives the E39 540 with Strat I plate also?

In addition to being rude, he's "sold" a few cars in low reserve auctions that have ended up for sale by him again - ie shill bidding.
