Mike 1 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 Was playing around with the car, forgot a washer and got a trail of small oil spots up the asphalt driveway. Any one know of any easy way to get rid of them? cheers
bravo 35 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 Engine degreaser and a hose.
CamB 48 Report post Posted October 21, 2008 FWIW, the passage of time will do a pretty good job too if it's exposed to the elements.
tire 10 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 I have the same prob, oil on asphalt. What bravo said with the degreaser didn't do a lot (tried 2 different types), I mean when you hose it off you get rainbows but no matter how much you do it theres always some left :| Keen to see how you get on. I might try some baking soda
greenday-rulz21 6 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 Why don't you try that 30 second stuff? Spray and walk away!! Actually thats probably not for oil.

320guy 0 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 I got some acid from Mitre 10, nasty sh*t. She said to water it down, though I didnt and it ate holes into the concrete :/
Nobimmer 694 Report post Posted October 22, 2008 Dont use spirits of salt (which is that acid). Brake cleaner should get it off if its fresh? 30 seconds is for Moss mildew etc. CLR oil remover will work also.

It tuned the nice smooth concrete into rough crappy sandy stuff.

Mike 1 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) I've tried degreaser before without much luck, 'spose it wont hurt to give the oven cleaner a go. Otherwise time and the elements it is. cheers guys edit: just been told the landlord is down tomorrow, great. Edited October 23, 2008 by Mike
Young Thrash Driver 1020 Report post Posted October 23, 2008 I thought degreaser, brake cleaner etc ate ashphalt? Seeing as its an oil product I've seen a couple handfulls of Drive washing powder clean up a big-ish spill when mixed with water
