In late 2005, a member offered a time-machine for sale through auction (or swap for "anti gravity machine"), with the highest bid reaching $300,000,000,001,999. The seller withdrew the auction shortly before its close-time. News of the auction reached some New Zealand newspapers, which ran a story on it. Currently this auction holds the record for the highest number of questions asked and answered.

Was a hardcase auction alright. Anyone know what it went for in the end? and how come you trawled trademe for auctions back in 2005? :lol:

Haha There's a site somewhere that is full of epic auctions. I got this particular one emailed to me.

Its cool how Trademe have cached it so it never disappears!

My fav was when those Ice Bergs were floating up from Antarctic - went for a good sum, came with free penguins if i remember right.

Yeah, The IceBerg went for quite a large sum as well and Yes you did get free penguins.

It was also buyer had to pick up.

I also liked the (hoax) one about the dolphins that someone had caught and were keeping in their swimming pool. That got some national attention as I remember.
