M325is 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2009 Well, I want to run a self sufficient farm and for some spending money I would love to work a heard of horses and teach people how to ride and take treks etc. I actually plan on doing this once I have some money reserves to purchase some land. I love the Matakana area and I think it would be a great place to set up (great growing conditions and plenty of tourists)

I love the Matakana area and I think it would be a great place to set up (great growing conditions and plenty of tourists) I would get in quick land in matakana is getting pricey quick as it's becoming a holiday spot. There is a horse riding place in parkari that you could put an offer on... Been there for years...

elmarco 56 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 - Test driver / head of product development for Cigarette Powerboats - Pilot (damn my eyesight) - Rock god - Indiana Jones If you aren't totally sure what to go for, it might be a good move to do a Morrisby assessment. It is a kind of combination of a psychometric test along with your natural preferences and abilities. This is then compared to a database of profiles of people in industry to give you an idea of what others similar to your mindset and preferences actually do. bravo 35 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 Hah - nice list there guys. Unfortunately not much I either havn't thought of or that I want to do. I'm thinking of some of these: Joining the US coastguard Working for a Marine Search and Rescue organisation Driving chase boats for an Americas Cup team Working as an instructor for marine qualifications (Australia boat licences, NZ boatmaster, etc) Working on super/charter yachts or doing blue water delivery voyages. Working in mental health Teaching Setting up my own business doing VIP car storage, transport, valet and service. Driving a tour bus or working in adventure tourism Buying a bar (I will do this, this has been a dream of mine for around 8 years, but I want to do something else first) Become a mechanical engineer with a view to working on either large marine engines or in motorsport. And I'm still thinking/looking. Hoping for some fresh ideas. I want to have decided and made the change by the end of the year.

Bold ones I can help you with. Actually pretty suprised at some of these mof! Perhaps we need a mentoring thread so that members already working in other members "dream" jobs can help other bimmersport members achieve their dreams - we can all stop hating going to work Its a great idea, seen one online, Garage 66 seems to be owned by the man selling the Mercedes Pullman on TM for 245K Max Fletcher's setup. Grant 4 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) Bravo I like your list. One thought (and I don't know the answer) is that if the US Coast Guard is a Federal Position, then you will most likely need to be a US Citizen. I ran into that issue a lot when looking for work here, basically any Federal position requires you to be a Citizen (however if they are employed by a State or City/County, then you just need to be a Green Card holder (like me for the next 2.5 years before I am eligible to become a US Citizen). Grant 4 Report post Posted May 2, 2009 (edited) I would like to own (and operate with employees) a Cafe/Bar. The emphasis would be on the cafe, and the highest quality coffee (not Starbucks or the like rubbish), however I would like the cafe to also be able to serve alcohol. It would more be a very casual place to meet, have a coffee, beer or wine and hang out rather than a booze barn or club. I think I'm in the minority when I have no desire to work with cars for a living. Cheers Grant Edited May 2, 2009 by Grant
