Apex 693 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 i didn't think they made 4 door m3's?? Shh, quickly delete that and we will pretend we didn’t see it Nice car, shame about the SMG. Wonder if the SMG unit could be removed and the gearbox converted back to how it should be.

CamB 48 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Ha - he had to replace the ABS pump. Mine failed about 2 months ago... but I was able to find a second hand one for very cheap... (and feel very fortunate). It has even more wood trim than mine (eww), although ironically not the gear knob - I just had to change mine to leather. Not a fan of wood. I love the colour. I wanted Estoril. Yuen 16 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 I love the colour. I wanted Estoril. Gotta love Estoril. But your colour's pretty nice too Cam, saw your car in the city awhile back.
CamB 48 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 The colour of mine has grown on me I hope I'd cleaned it. Its filthy, thanks to new baby and no time. I also hope I wasn't driving like a d1ck.
Yuen 16 Report post Posted May 19, 2009 (edited) No worries there - you were at a stop sign or give way, so you weren't moving at all! I didn't get a close look as I was driving down the road, but it looked pretty good to me. Edited May 19, 2009 by Mpulsive
Guest Ari Gold Report post Posted May 19, 2009 Well maintained - ignoring the frontal damage of course? I hate SMG 1. Lots of car for the money - but be careful and do your homework.

crazyarab 6 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Hes dropped the price to 17k! Man, if that does not at that price I think it says ALOT about SMG...
Apex 693 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 Rip it out and attach a gear leaver and clutch pedal. That’s a bargain!

Jamez 2147483647 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 does SMG have any merits? all I hear about it is bad news...
crazyarab 6 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 (edited) does SMG have any merits? all I hear about it is bad news... From what I gathered when I initially did the reading was it eliminates human error basically. So perfect shifts every time, and is great for track use and best possible acceleration. Downsides seem to be that daily driving them are a bitch and I guess the huge bills associated with them if they go wrong. Apex 693 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 They're harsh when driven normally, think of SMG-1 as a 15 year old Boy racer changing gears for you.. you know, the big fast shift even in the food town car park. I think this harshness is why there clutches perish quickly, the gearbox themselves are great! Surly someone knows weather SMG can be removed? Under all that automated crap is a nice Getrag 6-Speed! Grant 4 Report post Posted May 25, 2009 The only SMG I have been in was an E46 M3 CSL. I thought it was brilliant. Loved the blipping for the downshifts.
