E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) IE Flares & get some useable suspension travel to boot!! You'll also need some decent rubber out back (ie. 255/40's) to get some grip if you have similar power to my E30!! Which will still look stretched on those 10's... Spose those IE flares dont look half bad, I have BC Gold coilovers which should keep travel to a minimum, what suspension are you running in yours? Got any pics of the 255/40s? What size rim are you running them on? Your car is badass

Guest FrantiC Report post Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) Stick way too far out IMO. I suggested go smaller spacers, get them close in as possible. Even with guard work and smaller streatched tires on there, they still look far apart compared to the body, especially in those behind pictures. I would rather keep stock / rolled guards than custom guards (not that I am against it, depends how it comes out). Interested to see how you fix it though. Maybe 9" front and rear would have been the way to go huh. /edit - lol my '666' th post. Edited June 15, 2009 by FrantiC

Got any pics of the 255/40s? What size rim are you running them on? Your car is badass They look nice colour coded, and they are ABS Plastic, so have a fit of flex and don't break very easily I've heard. You don't want to "keep travel to a minimum" you need as much as you can get and keep it supple enough to get traction. I have E36 Koni SA coilovers up front with 5" 550# springs & AVO 1710's on the rear with 3" 120# tenders under 6" 350# springs on a E28 rear-end. I've got a few pic's of it on 245/40's but only 8" rims (front & rear) & one with a 240/625 slick on a 9" rim, they were on the forum here somewhere. At the moment it is sitting in the garage on 17 x 8.5" fronts & 9" rears with 225/45 RE-070R (which run the same width as the 245's) and another 2.5 sets 8" rims clogging up the garage.... Mattzy 0 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 (edited) Looks good dude. Front fits sweet. Have you had a go with a hammer in the rear? May have to tubb the rear if you want to go low (which you should ) PS - How low does the m50 sump sit? /Edit, I guess you could lathe down the rear spacers 5mm but thats not really the problem eh. Top the the tyre banging the crap out of inside of the wheel well is the main drama. Edited June 15, 2009 by Mattzy

OLLIE 26 Report post Posted June 15, 2009 why so big ? would it not negatively affect the handling? especially in the front? I think it's pretty cool but ... why? I reckon you just like a challenge luke ... you're going to have to do quite a bit of work to make them work. but i'm looking forward to the result as i'm sure it'll be good. The obvious is a massive flaring of the guards but the rest of the car will need to fit in with the new look as well - somehow I see the sideskirts being an even bigger challenge. That blue mtech 2 that Simon posted is awesome, you should aim for that. badass

You don't want to "keep travel to a minimum" you need as much as you can get and keep it supple enough to get traction. Yea I had a look at the IE ones on their site they would work but would end up being pretty expensive once shipped here imo. Yea woops haha no travel means no tyre on the road and that would be a problem but yea what is suitable amount of travel? I guess that totally depends on the type of motorsport you are doing. So what set of tyres have you found best for grip so far and at what power at the wheels? Cheers Matt, yea I have had a go at it with the hammer annnnnnd a bolt on guard flaring tool... What is this tubbing of the rear that you guys mention? The M50 sump sits roughly at the same height if not slightly higher than the original motor in my E30 Matt Those rims on the first pic you posted Simon do look very close to what I have, its really hard to tell in that picture tho haha! Some nice examples there though. As Matt said its getting the top of the flare where it meets back up with the rear quater to clear the top of the tyre when it sits up in there. I think im with James and all for the metal flares much more permanent and flush look however, some of those bolt on flares look pretty rad also in some of the above pics! I may even dare to attack the flares myself depending on how much my mate quotes me. He was over 10mins ago and is going to get back to me with a price. And yea that pretty much sums it up Ollie lol! This is new to me, I never used to like a challange but this car has changed that all. I also want to step outside the safety zone and dare to be a little different and try the un-tried I guess? Not that alot of this is really new elsewhere in the world. But yea I think with the right touch like you say Ollie and the time and effort this black beauty or shall I call it a beast? It will come out very satisfactory indeed! Thanks for the very constructive and positive comments guys, your thought are much appreciated as it gauges interests in my head that I may not have thought of! Your a good bunch! So what set of tyres have you found best for grip so far and at what power at the wheels? They may not seem too expensive once you get custom metal ones done & the risk factor/replacement issue if you bang one up (ie. drop your strong arm bar maybe... oops). On my back end it has 5" free travel (plus 1" of bumpstop) 2" compression(plus the bumpstop) & 3" droop. The droop is important to keep the tyres planted on the road (ps. I'm running no rear sway-bar also). Mine is setup for the track predominantly, but is still OK-ish on the back roads, if you don't mind your fillings getting shaken out!!! Dunlop DZ02G's have been the best for grip so far LOL with 292rwhp. But for a road tyre the RE-070R is pretty good, nice feedback but noisy. If it's wet, just leave it at home, 4th gear roll-on + facing the median barrier = code brown surprise!!!!

Boost Junky 1 Report post Posted June 28, 2009 Not much as far as the wheels go atm Ashkan haha, gonna cost me $650 too do all four guards and tidy up the body thats not including paint. Still a damn descent price though, im going to get the alignment and tune done before i address the guards issue.
