Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Road car, not eligible for the open class with a modified firewall.
CamB 48 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Is the firewall actually modified? It doesn't look it (I know it potentially implied it on a previous post).
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 He said he recessed the motor 50mm into the firewall to clear the subframe.
CamB 48 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Hmmmm. He said: Take an E30 subframe, cut the mounting points (ends) off, weld the E46 centre between them forward 50mm to shift the control arm mounting to center the wheels and recess the engine 50mm into the firewall to clear the sump. Knock up some rear control arm mounts (cut from the E46) and the subframe and E46 front end bolts to the E30. I'm not sure that means he cut the firewall? OLLIE 26 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 recessed 50mm to clear the sump. Modify the sump Tony?
Silver Fox 43 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Maybe he's cut 50mm off the back of the motor. It is Tony after all.

westy 614 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Dave knows his regs. Firewall is hammered back to fit the back of the head. I'll have to talk to the race commitee about this. If I keep ol' Foxy on side they may look a little more favourably on it This is a crap pic but it shows the E46 door latch in the E30 door. Door harness is installed with electric windows etc.

martyyn 2 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Its got to be a road car surely, or at least a road car prep'd for track days. After doing all that work you want to drive it as much as possible scaring the hell out of all the hondaz on the street

westy 614 Report post Posted July 16, 2009 Why'd you do that??? It's all part of the remote central locking/alarm system and the latches have hall sensors in them to tell the body control module whether the doors are open or closed (no door jam switch). What I haven't sorted yet is the manual key release to unlock the door. There's also a contact switch around the window seal for jamming fingers in the elec windows. Did I mention it's gonna take a while!??

Just a FYI.That box that was under the dash/gloove box with 'GM5' on it is the eletric windows and central locking relays / other random sh*t.
