Matt Black M3 at Team Mcmillan

Recommended Posts

Was in at Team Mcmillan yesterday and saw they had a matt black M3 in the show room and im not one to like many matt black cars but it was certainly something pretty different and they pulled it off pretty well.

Not too keen on newer models in matt black. I see mattblack as an oldskool car colour, mainly if they arent the flashest eg mine  That one would look far nicer in Gloss Black.

But of course, each to their own.

looks like it's missing the lower skirting from the front and rear bumpers...

just doesn't look finished...

I'd much rather see an e92 m3 matt black than an e30.

e30's are old enough, making one matt black just makes it look like a sack of sh*t.

In this case, this m3 looks staunch!!

Im going to guess its a full body vinyl cover and not paint. Not my style either, looks better on other cars.

Not a fan. As Heath said looks like it is missing some body kit + has hideous wheels on it for that color.

It's vinyl wrap .. the original colour of that car is Jerez black.

I think it's the angle of the photos, I've actually grown to really like the way the E92 look.

Looks sh*t.

Gotta be white or red for me.

Heath, its function over form in the case of the M3, it would look as good or not better than a Peugeot 205 with a front splitter added.

depending on how the splitter is design it can be functional.

And i know the 205 is a brick... never brought that up... Just the above M3 is ugly as hell - to me it looks unfinished, it's little things like the height of the start of the side skirt is lower than the rear of the front bumper which creates a bad optical image.... If it was truely fuctional then they would have used something to differ air from the front of the tyre to decrease the drag created.

Production cars are not a case of function or form... it's a comprise of everything, cost, target market opinion, company image considerations, performance, safety, pedestrian safety, reliability, fuel economy, etc...

Well, I like marketing and will believe anything BMW tells me. They say it’s actually function, the front bumper is designed to enhance the way the car drives giving it sharper turn in bla bla bla…it’s also to show a hint of F1 involvement.

I agree with you whole heartedly and thought the same thing when I saw one for the first time, reminds me of those Toyota Previa imports with a massive body kit only Satuf**kia knocked the front off at the TAB.

A company called Vorsteiner do a awesome front lip for them that looks like it should have bee there the whole time.

I want this one.

Could be worse it could be an M6

You'd be surprised how much aero is under the E92 M3 ...

Personally I think the best looking aftermarket kit out there at the moment is the Vorsteiner GTS3 kit ...

f**k me! The matt black one is what Mad Max would be driving in 2020 (just add guns, flame thrower, and studded leather). And that is cool.
