mark247 39 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 Three choices - No car until feb - Spend money on another auto which you are going to take out in feb anyway, and you basically cant sell because nobody wants them. Personally, i put mine on the fire. - Or beg like hell for loan from your parents for manualizationz Sucks to be you auh
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 Yeah, don't want to buy another auto. The local wrecker/mechanic said he'd hook me up with a used pump it's just removing the slutty transmission which is annoying.
hotwire 352 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 Try beeping your horn and see what happens. When we put my M50 in we forgot a few earths and when I pushed the horn the indicators would go etc etc because everything was earthing through something else lol. Basically if you have forgotten all the earths, it wont just be the starter that does not work! WTF Not disagreeing with your statement but:- He didn't say that anything else wouldn't go & he had only changed the engine - not pulled all electrics apart. Symptom discribed suggested to me one of the possible faults I outined in first post. And yes - sometimes I do know what I am on about - have been in the game for a long time to have learnt. I'm just saying, when we swapped my m50 over, we forgot to do up a few earths.. and it did a whole heap of funny things... not just not starting
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 May have missed something somewhere but was the transmission working before engine change? Yes, it's the transmission that came with the car. before the gasket blew.
DRTDVL 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 talk to someone with a manual box spare/for sale and talk about a payment plan/depoist...
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 I allready owe 800 bucks to grandad for the engine and shipping. I don't know anyone locally with a manual.... Besides, I'd need the rest of the parts too... It all adds up, I can't afford to convert to manual right now. and I need a car that can be driven out of town, unlike this PEICE OF sh*t falcon I've been using which if you accelerate too hard, it stalls. Very fun on hills.
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Got the box out, it's the oil pump for it. Hopefully can score one tomorrow cheaply enough.

antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 Picked up an oil pump today... and my shiny new intake boot has arrived However the p/n's on the pump are slightly different... I couldn't find one at the wrecker with exactly the same. only the last two digits are different... but the parts look identical and are the same size ect. the wrecker said to pull it apart and check to make sure the pump itself isn't shagged, and it's possible to swap the pump impellar?(sp) from my original pump. Since the only issue with my pump is the fact the engine is unable to turn it.
turboprop 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 I would probally just stick that one in, I wouldnt bother swapping bits and pieces over.
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 I would probally just stick that one in, I wouldnt bother swapping bits and pieces over. It was easy swapping the drive bit over, like really simple... Reason for it... the wrecker couldn't garantee it would work. also it was broken anyways... but yeah... Now getting the box in... bloody thing won't line up!!
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 Righto, she's all back in, start the car up and the trans light is still on, but this time it will drive - but in limp home mode... Any suggestions? also, how the hell do I read the dipstick? what's the trick? Well all the e30 auto dipsticks read the same. Conveniently you can't see it. But it says "Convert me to Manual you F**ker". Your e30 is screaming for it
antil33t 90 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) yes, yes I know. but srsly I just want a bloody car!!!! If Only I had a spare grand. I've allready spent 1k+ fixing this thing. I don't think theres enough fluid in the system... it appears even though the manual says 3L, 4.5L isn't even really registering on the dipstick. mark247 39 Report post Posted December 16, 2009 (edited) Congrats. Limp mode is a pig, I'm glad you fixed that without too much of a headache. I remember when my car, when m20, was in limp mode I had a race against a m20b20 and still won anyway =P Good stuff.
