DavidR 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 I'm looking for any advice or past experiences anyone might have about fixed back bucket seats so any information you can provide would be much appreciated. I have an e36 325i and am looking into putting in a fixed back bucket seat in. However, my dad uses the car a lot as well, so we would like to keep the original electronic seat controls. I'm unsure whether or not this is possible and if I will need to get a special adaptor bracket or if the one that comes with the seat will do the job?? The final thing I'm not sure about is if the seat will need to be cerified or not after I put it in? Thanks For Any Advice David
thorburn 121 Report post Posted December 11, 2009 if it is a 2 door and you have 2 fixed back bucket seats in the front you will need to have your car registered as a 2 seater

_ethrty-Andy_ 2132 Report post Posted December 12, 2009 umm electronic seat controls + fixed back bucket seat = ???? i would think he means the sliding back and fourth only, not the relining or other features
DavidR 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2009 i would think he means the sliding back and fourth only, not the relining or other featuresYup exactly I knew I'd lose reclining, but I was hoping I would be able to keep the forward/back movement, as well as up and down. Although I just thought I'd keep those two movements since I assumed they must both act on the bottom rail but not sure.
|ncary 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 Here's a idea I have made visual for you all. Probably been done before. I'd get this done, however, it would be pointless once a cage comes!
westy 614 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 Umm...maybe not, if the seatbelts attached to it.
|ncary 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 The seatbelt wouldn't be attached to a bucket seat anyway would it? You'd have to make a new mounting point on the trans tunnel. Unless you used stock rails, which I personally wouldn't, they are sh*t.

I guess it depends on how much work ya want to make for yourself Henrrrrry. Although I remember the old Mk1/2 Escort seats folded forward on a hinge at the front. They didn't have catches at the back, they just sat on the floor ha. Edited December 14, 2009 by westy
|ncary 0 Report post Posted December 14, 2009 Haha my little idea sketch didn't apply to this guys problem, just reminded me of it. And of course an escort would have something as cool as that feature

And of course an escort would have something as cool as that feature Definitely an interesting idea, but yup not quite what I'm after. The escort hinged seats is the same design as in the original minis, roughly, isnt it??
DRTDVL 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 the peugeot 205 factory seat pivots like that... i think the mini's do also
MLM 57 Report post Posted December 15, 2009 The only way to get arround this problem is to remove the seat and have a look at whats available to you in terms of attachment points and seat belt location/routing. If you do pull the seat take some pics and post em up so we can chuck some ideas arround otherwise we are all guessing.
