E30-323ti 66 Report post Posted February 28, 2010 Can you move the subframe further forward if you only need "a little more space"?? This will give you a bit more castor but may move the wheels too far forward in the arches!?!? Just a thought...

Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 I have decided that I will modify the sump. So there's no turning back all the front mounting points have been welded in place now.
Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 The factory E36 steering coupling is to long for the 2002 engine bay. I so made a shorter one out of two.

c.robertson00 11 Report post Posted March 3, 2010 With your inlet manifold are you just going to cut the two flanges and then weld a piece of alloy pipe between the two then smooth the inside out??

Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 5, 2010 (edited) I have finished modifying the sump, so it was time to move onto the engine mounts. I needed to make to new mounts on the cross member as the standard mount holes were to close to the chassis rails. Also new mounts for the block were needed as well. The rubber engine mounts are for a skyline . In the second picture you can see the cut out in the sump so the engine could moved forward. tibbs.james 1 Report post Posted March 6, 2010 (edited) http://www.vg30.com/images/oilpantop.jpg Did you consider Adding Wings on the sump to Bring a little extra oil capacity ? I have seen this done on a few cars where portions of the sump have been chopped out, some to add extra capacity some to simply return capacity back to stock Edited March 6, 2010 by Jimmy

Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 Mounted the E36 Radiator after work today. Also put the rocker cover back on. I painted it with some VHT wrinkle plus and gave it a round oil cap to try and give it an old school look
Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) I dummy fitted the steering column off the E36. It looks like I need to use the standard E36 coupling and not the shortened one I made a few days ago. I'm not happy with the angles that the universal's are running at. I can't do much to the steering until my pedal box turns up. Edited March 8, 2010 by rot62
Eddie 66 Report post Posted March 9, 2010 Got on the piss after work so not much progress tonight. Did make a start on the inlet manifold- cut up a toyota beams inlet manifold to rob the runners out of it and drilled the holes for the side draft flange
