I know of 2, both black, both have current WOF's and Reg's in NZ, one is RHD and i believe its the car that has the modded induction system.

Oh, and Ive seen one rep in Auckland on dealer plates, I spotted that at parked on the side of a road outside of a dealer near some ice skating ring then again in a private garage on a main road on the North Shore.

Is anyone an expert on the LTSA importation laws - there seem to be so many variables !! Could you import an 1990 E30 M3 and register it here ? Is it classed as 'special' enough to be exempt from rules regarding LHD, emmissions and frontal impact requirements ?

As soon as it gets to 20 years old it is exempt from all the LHD, emissions and frontal impact rules. So as long as the vehicle was first REGISTERED more than 20 years ago when it ARRIVES in NZ you will be Ok. Need to start looking for an early '90 reg'd model, or wait a while.

There were only 600 made, how many remain is unknown, finding one and buying one in NZD will work out quite expensive so keep in mind that you will need circa $80,000NZD to find and purchase one that’s in good condition.

The old boy has been toying with the idea of selling his E30 M3 2.3 and buying a Sport Evo. I found him a red one off shore done 66,000kms. I enqired about a price. Came back at $86,000NZ. Then ad the costs of importing it, GST, getting the car on the road. I dont think he would get any change from $100,000. For this reason hes going to stick with his 2.3.

Wholly god damn. Just read that whole topic on e30Zone. Everyone was doubting him. Then he went and bought 2x Evo Sports 1x Merc 190e Evo 2 1xFord RS200. With pics. Apparently the Billionaire bought them for his kids(evo sports) and forgot about them!!! All Brand new with delivery km's!!!!!
